Here Are Exactly What 7 Beauty Editors and Influencers Actually Repurchase

Elise Wilson and Ruchi Page Elise Wilson and Ruchi Page

If you’re anything like us, you’re probably curious about the products beauty experts have hidden away in their cupboards.

The products they regularly reach for and make sure they’re never left without. Or - the pinnacle for those working in beauty - the products they even spend their own money on, despite having access to the latest and greatest.

We think about it all the time, and consider it not only our responsibility but our goddamn civic duty to let you in on the secrets too.

So throwing all subtlety out the window, we asked some familiar faces - aka some of our favourite Beauty Editors and influencers - to pick just one of the best Adore Beauty products from their recurring Adore Beauty orders.

Keep scrolling for the skincare, makeup and hair care products we'd find if we rummaged through their drawers or peeked into their online shopping carts.

*Not sponsored, just the products they bloody love. Here they are.

1. Elise Wilson (@elisebeautyeditor)

Who: Elise is the Category Beauty Editor for New Idea, Woman’s Day, WHO, TV Week and Take 5 Australia, and curator of The Beauty Gloss.

Her pick: Biologi Br Organic Rosehip Oil

How she found it:

"I discovered this because I was lucky enough to meet the lovely brand founders several times and they sent it my way as soon as it launched."

"I’m a fan of oils and use them a few nights a week on my skin as a more intense treatment, I also sometimes mix a few drops into my foundation for a really dewy look."

Why she loves it:

“I have combination skin so a lot of oils can be too heavy for me but rosehip works for all my concerns. This one harnesses the pure power of Rose canina (an extract of the seeds of the wild rose), and is rich in Vitamin C, linolenic acid and lots more to brighten, soothe and really hydrate.”

How she uses it:

“I always pop on a moisturiser after my oils at night to lock in all the goodness. I’d also highly recommend trying Biologi’s other products, especially if your skin has become sensitised over winter. They’re all 100 per cent pure plant-based products that are gentle but so effective.”

2. Nkisu Machona (@nkisu_truffles)

Who: Nkisu is a Perth-based skincare, beauty and lifestyle content creator. You'll also find her work on the Adore Beauty YouTube channel!

Her pick: The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

How she found it:

“This was one of the first items from The Ordinary that I ever tried! I'd been on the hunt for an affordable product that would hopefully help with my dark spots."

"I mean, you don't really get any more affordable than a serum for less than $10.”

Why she loves it:

“This has become one of my go-to serums. I use it morning and night because it's just such a great all-rounder serum. Now, I stock up on the supersize version."

"It's soothing, helps to curb any breakouts, and has helped lighten some of my dark spots, too.”

3. Sarah Tarca (@tarca)

Who: Sarah is a Beauty Editor, co-founder of The Wayward Co, former Beauty Director, Marie Claire and former Editor, Girlfriend.

Her pick: SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum

How she found it:

“I once described being introduced to CE ferulic as ‘like being invited to one of those super fancy members only clubs... except everyone has amazing skin instead of a Rolex’. This is exactly how you feel when you discover it, along with abject fear each time you use it near a potentially smashable surface."

"Like many of my great beauty loves, I was introduced to it by my fellow Beauty Ed and friend Sherine Youssef when we both worked on the Marie Claire beauty team – and it hasn’t left my side since. Our WhatsApp group (along with another beauty ed pal) was dominated by our talk of it, our current stash (read: hoarding status), and alerts if there were ever any sales on."

Why she loves it:

“When I started using it, people would grab my arm earnestly and demand to know what I was doing to my skin to get that glow. Yes, it smells like someone left the Christmas ham out well past New Years, but it’s testament to how good it is that no one cares."

"For me, one of the greatest barometers of a beauty product’s greatness is if a Beauty Editor would part with their own money for it (because loads of products are gifted from PR companies). And I have, to my bank account’s dismay, done so many, many times.”

How she uses it:

“Just a couple of drops in the morning patted over the face and followed with a light moisturiser and sunscreen, and you’ll be on your way to serious glow – and an even more serious addiction.”

4. Ruchi Page (@ruchipage)

Who: Ruchi is a beauty content creator and influencer. You'll also find her sharing her beauty wisdom on the Adore Beauty YouTube channel.

Her pick: SALT BY HENDRIX Crystal Waters Hyaluronic Face Mask 40ml

How she found it:

“I discovered it during my usual hourly scroll on the Adore Beauty website and noticed the brand and its unique concept. I was looking at hydrating treatments and stumbled across this one.”

Why she loves it:

“This mask immediately softens the skin and adds such a radiant glow to the complexion, thanks to the hyaluronic acid and vitamin C content. The price is pretty decent considering its high quality formula and glass packaging. I love how it is almost immediately absorbed into the skin."

How she uses it:

“I use it as a night mask two times a week for an intensive hydration treatment. It’s brilliant as the final step of my routine or before a facial oil for extra nourishment.”

5. April Watson (@thebodzilla)

Who: April is a Body Love Activist and founder of The BODcast.

Her pick: Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick

How she found it:

"I was looking for a new lip product as the ones I had (traditional creamy bullet-style lipsticks) weren't cutting it. I found this one, shade #35 Creator is my favourite!"

Why she loves it:

"I love it because it lasts super well, just like it’s supposed to! It doesn’t shift easily while drinking and if it does rub off when you’re eating, you can reapply to the gaps and have a seamless lip look after lunch."

"It’s my signature colour now and I buy a new one any time there’s a sale! I have at least 12 more shades of this as I LOVE the texture!”

6. Sherine Youssef

Who: Sherine is a Freelance Writer, Copywriter, Editor and Contributing Beauty Editor - you can read her work on Gritty Pretty, Primer and Badlands Journal.

Her pick: Ultra Violette Queen Screen SPF 50+ Luminising Sun Serum

How she found it:

“It was Ultra Violette co-founder Ava Matthews' mum who spilled the beans that her daughter was working on a suncare product, so I was lucky to get my hands on a sample early on. (Backstory: Ava's mum is fashion stylist Nicole Bonython-Hines, and Nicole and I have worked together at different magazines over the years.)”

Ultra Violette Queen Screen Ultra Violette Queen Screen

Why it's a popular choice:

“I'm obsessed with sunscreen, and wear it - no joke - every single day. This product makes skin look and feel smooth and hydrated under makeup (a lot of sunscreens claim to layer well but they don't), the finish is glowy without being greasy (another thing some other formulas can't get right), it manages to be both super light and moisturising, and it doesn't leave behind a white cast. “

Her advice?

“Please wear sunscreen every day. If you're investing lots of time and money into your skin, whether that be at-home serums and masks, or pricey professional treatments, you're undoing all that effort if your skin is exposed to the sun's damaging and ageing rays."

"And of course, SPF is only one part of sun protection! Always seek shade, and wear sunnies, a hat and protective clothing. Use sufficient sunscreen for all unprotected areas and reapply sunscreen as directed. Always read the label. End rant."

7. Brittany Stewart (@brittanybeautybts)

Who: I couldn't miss out on the fun, could it? I'm the creator of the Beauty Island Podcast and It’s A Beauty! Newsletter, and a Beauty Journalist.

My pick: Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub

How I found it:

I thought this was an over-hyped product that couldn’t possibly live up to expectations... until I tried it. It’s the closest I’ve got to a hairdresser/hair commercial-like feel at home. And the 200+ Adore Beauty reviews on the site agree with me.

Why I love it:

It gets rid of all the product build-up from the week, leaves my scalp feeling blissfully clean, eliminates the annoying flakes I often find around my hairline, and gives my strands some much needed pre-wash TLC. Also, it smells obscenely delightful.

I often scoff at brands who describe using products as “rituals” but this one is a genuine joy to use - and a step I look forward to every week. I thought this would only be good for oily scalps but I have dry, frizzy hair and it loves it. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it - you’ll be scraping out every single little salt grain.
