Beauty IQ Uncensored Episode 29 Transcript - 'Our Fave Beauty Products Under $30'

Hannah Furst:

This episode contains adult content. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome everybody to Beauty IQ, the podcast.

Joanna Flemming:

I'm your host, Joanna Fleming.

Hannah Furst:

And I am your cohost, Hannah Furst. Well, we're back for another week. Where are you recording from today Joe?

Joanna Flemming:

I am in my spare room, and I'm looking out into our sideway. And I feel like my mom's just about to walk past the window. I've put a do not disturb on the door, but I've already had to install a printer for my dad this morning, and it's a whole ordeal. My cats been in here. It's certainly a different recording studio to what we're used to. Where are you recording from?

Hannah Furst:

I'm actually in my bed because I thought that the padding of the bed simulated the padding of a recording studio.

Joanna Flemming:

Yes. Well, we do have professional mics, so we're still hoping we'll be able to deliver quite high quality content, but you never know.

Hannah Furst:

We never know. So what's on today's episode, Joe?

Joanna Flemming:

On today's episode we are chatting to a colleague of ours, Sam. She's dialed in from afar to talk about, how would we say it, period sex?

Hannah Furst:

Well, it's a period cup for mess-free period sex.

Joanna Flemming:

Yep. So we're going to be chatting about that. And then you and I have gone a bit rogue, and we decided that because most of us are on a budget right now, we would pick out our favorite products under $30 and share them with you guys.

Hannah Furst:

I did go rogue and one was $31.95. But anyway.

Joanna Flemming:

And of course our products we didn't know we needed. Welcome to our next guest. It's actually an Adore Beauty guest. Welcome Sam.

Samantha McLaren:

Hello.

Joanna Flemming:

Hi.

Hannah Furst:

Hello.

Joanna Flemming:

So we're all distanced at the moment, but we've got Sam with her own microphone. So she is joining us for a chat today. Sam manages our sex category. So you would have heard from Danny a few weeks ago who was also working across the category. And today we're actually going to be talking about period cups.

Hannah Furst:

And actually I've got to say, so ever since I posted the Ziggy Cup on my stories, I've had an influx of people saying, "Does the Ziggy Cup work?" Sam, can you tell us what exactly Intimina Ziggy Cup is?

Samantha McLaren:

I can. So Intimina are a feminine care brand, and they do a few different types of period cups and pelvic floor products. And one of the really interesting period cup products that they have is called the Ziggy Cup, which is a period cup that you can wear during sex.

Hannah Furst:

Which just sounds like we're living in-

Joanna Flemming:

Sounds really bizarre.

Hannah Furst:

... a new world, clearly.

Samantha McLaren:

We are.

Joanna Flemming:

We really are.

Hannah Furst:

You don't have to put a black towel down, is that correct?

Samantha McLaren:

You no longer need to put a black towel down. This is saving your sheets. This is saving you from that extra load of washing.

Hannah Furst:

It's also saving the environment.

Samantha McLaren:

Well, it is. And I think that's one of the really important things about period cups in general, not just the Zigi Cup, is that using one period cup replaces the need to have all of those tampons and pads and all the single use plastic that they come wrapped in. And so just one period cup is saving a huge impact on landfill as well as it's a lot more cost effective for women who you just make the one purchase.

Joanna Flemming:

I switched over to period undies at the start of last year, was it? No, it was probably middle of last year, and that changed my life, but I'm yet to fully try a cup. But one of the girls in our team said I really should, because she's the one that got me onto period undies, and she's trying to convince me to try a cup. And I have one of the Intimina ones at home. I just haven't used it yet. So I'm going to use that in the next couple of weeks, and see how I go, and see if it really is life changing. But Sam, can you explain in the best way that you can, how can you wear the Zigi Cup while you're having sex?

Samantha McLaren:

So the thing about the Ziggy Cup is it's a completely different shape, and it's shaped a little bit more like a diaphragm. It's not a hugely popular form of birth control, but I think most people will know what a diaphragm is, and it kind of works in a similar way. So where regular period cup or tampon sits in your vaginal canal, the Ziggy Cup slides back a little bit further and essentially cups the entry to your cervix. So essentially it's a little bit higher and at a different angle than a regular period cup. But I have to say, the first time I tried it I couldn't quite get my head around. I was like, "Where is the cup? Where is the penis?" I was really nervous. I had asked my boyfriend when I brought it home, I was like, "You need to help me in my job and have sex with me whilst I'm wearing this. Support my career."

Hannah Furst:

Only at Adore Beauty.

Samantha McLaren:

Right?

Hannah Furst:

Only at Adore Beauty.

Samantha McLaren:

Yeah, he's very good. He helps me out with a lot of different sex products. I'm bringing on lube and couples vibrators. So this wasn't that much of a stretch.

Joanna Flemming:

Lucky him.

Samantha McLaren:

So when we were using this, I was like, "Can you feel anything? Does this make any difference to you?" And he-

Hannah Furst:

See, you can't do that with a one night stand.

Joanna Flemming:

No. I think they have to be a solid partner.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah, totally. I don't know if I'd feel comfortable in my current daily life to use this. But I'm glad we've got you here in a serious relationship.

Samantha McLaren:

Although I will say, when we were using it, he was like, "I can't feel anything at all." He said to me, "The only thing that's weird is the fact that you look really worried." And I was like, "That's just because I'm scared."

Hannah Furst:

Could you feel it?

Samantha McLaren:

No, I couldn't. I really couldn't feel anything.

Hannah Furst:

Okay. I've got two questions. There was no mess whatsoever?

Samantha McLaren:

No mess whatsoever.

Hannah Furst:

And the other, this is the most requested question that I've had about the Zigi cup. How the hell do you take it out?

Joanna Flemming:

That's a great question.

Samantha McLaren:

Yeah. So putting it in and taking it out, it's definitely more challenge than a standard period cup or a tampon. Because when you put it in you, so you slide it back, and then you kind of talk the front of it up behind your pubic bone, which sounds super weird. But when your hand is up there, you're like, "Oh, there it is," and you can feel your bone, and you can feel where you have to tuck it behind.

Hannah Furst:

So I can't even visualize that in my head right now. But I think I'm to have to try it. Look, someone said to me, "If you really want to test it out and you're single, you can use a vibrator."

Samantha McLaren:

Well, that's what I was going to say. This doesn't necessarily have to be for a partner or even a male partner. It's basically just you would use it when you wanted to do anything remotely penetrative. So that could be fingers, or a sex toy, or if it was just you. And I don't know about other people, but I feel like when I'm on my period I always get slightly horny. So-

Hannah Furst:

Definitely.

Samantha McLaren:

... even if there was no one to have sex with, I could still use this cup and keep things clean with myself.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah. Sorry, I don't think we quite got to get it out.

Samantha McLaren:

Oh, getting it out. So getting out, I think the best way to do it is the same way that you put it in in that the best thing is to be actually sitting on the toilet so that you can empty it out right away. And you basically need to put your hand back in there, and you just grab the rim of it and pull it back from wave tucked it up behind your pubic bone.

Hannah Furst:

Okay. See, for the first time, I think I'd probably take it out in the shower just to be safe.

Samantha McLaren:

Oh yeah, the shower would work.

Hannah Furst:

Just so that you can get your bearings. Look, I could hardly get a tampon up there. I'm trying to work out in my head how I'm going to do this, but I'm going to try it. I might just try the regular first.

Samantha McLaren:

Yeah. I think ease your way in. But I think key to getting it in and getting it out is to literally just do it, because when you're explaining and when you're looking at an image, it's so hard to understand. But when your hand is inside of you, it makes so much more sense. It's very intimate. It's very intimate I will say.

Hannah Furst:

Well, Intimina or is the brand.

Samantha McLaren:

Yes.

Hannah Furst:

The other thing at Intimina which I've actually got to try, is also you've got the intimate accessory cleaner. So how does that work?

Samantha McLaren:

Oh yeah. So this is a good product to us with period cups, or you could use it with any of the sex toys that we range. I think the good thing about the period cleaner is if you want to clean your cup between uses but you haven't had a chance to wash it. So if you were at work or out and about and you need and you needed to empty it and then reinserted and you didn't have the opportunity to wash it in the sink, you can just empty it out, clean it off with some paper towel, and then use the Intimina accessory cleaner just to make sure that it's nice and clean before you reinsert.

Hannah Furst:

Well, thank you so much for joining us this-

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, I'm sure a lot of people will find that super, super interesting and they'll be throwing out their black towels.

Hannah Furst:

I get it, totally. And I think we'll have to get you back on to talk about the sex category again.

Samantha McLaren:

Oh yes. It's a pleasure. I'm always happy to talk about it in the office, so I'm happy to reach a wider audience.

Joanna Flemming:

Thanks Sam.

Samantha McLaren:

Thanks ladies.

Hannah Furst:

Hey Joe. We have news, don't we?

Joanna Flemming:

Yes, we do. Tell us.

Hannah Furst:

If you love these podcasts, you'll probably also love our new YouTube channel.

Joanna Flemming:

We get more in depth on skincare ingredients like Retinol.

Hannah Furst:

And I also take you through the ultimate haircare routine to tame Hagrid hair if you're anything like me.

Joanna Flemming:

Just search for Adore Beauty on YouTube and subscribe so you never miss a video. So Hannah, as most people know where both boujee bitches, and we talk about a lot of products that are quite expensive. I know that I tend to use quite expensive skincare, but when it comes to makeup, I've actually got quite a few bargain products that I love, and so do you.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah, I'm a bit of both though. I definitely use more bargain makeup.

Joanna Flemming:

Definitely. Yep. Same.

Hannah Furst:

When you stock the Ordinary, it's pretty easy to have a few bargain skincare products in your routine.

Joanna Flemming:

Absolutely. So we thought we'd share our favorite products under $30, which is quite affordable.

Hannah Furst:

Very affordable.

Joanna Flemming:

You can guess my first one. I've hidden my list from you, but I reckon that you can guess what my first one's going to be without knowing. What's something I recommend to people all the time?

Hannah Furst:

I'm going to say it's something from designer brands, and I reckon it's that brush set that I also have.

Joanna Flemming:

Yes, yes. It's definitely brush set.

Hannah Furst:

You love the brush set.

Joanna Flemming:

I'm obsessed with this brush set. I recommend it to so many people. It's $29.99, so it just comes in under the $30 mark. But it's a 10 piece brush set. It's got everything that you would need from a brush set. It's got heaps of eye brushes, which is very uncommon in brush sets I find. You get a lot of face brushes, but you don't get as many eye brushes. So there's blending ones; there's shadow brushes; there's angled brushes. There's heaps in there. Well, by heaps, I mean 10.

Hannah Furst:

I learned how to do my eye shadow from you using that brush set.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, I know. Well, tell me what's your first one on your list?

Hannah Furst:

Look, I had the ordinary glycollic toning solutions 7%, which is $14.50, which I've spoken about-

Joanna Flemming:

You've mentioned that so many times.

Hannah Furst:

... multiple times. So I use that to exfoliate my back, but you can use it to also remove fake tan, and you can also use it on your face as a glycolic acid solution. But actually my number one and product is the Ordinary Buffet. It is such, such a good serum.

Joanna Flemming:

It is great serum, yeah.

Hannah Furst:

It is $24.95, and as the name suggests, it is like a breakfast buffet. It has a bit of everything. But the main ingredients are hyaluronic acid and peptides. And you literally just wake up with plumper skin, I would say.

Joanna Flemming:

The thing with Buffet is that there's also another variant of it that's a bit more expensive.

Hannah Furst:

It is.

Joanna Flemming:

And it's got the copper peptides in it as well I believe.

Hannah Furst:

I think that one might be more around the $50 mark.

Joanna Flemming:

I think it is, yeah. So if you're already using Buffet and you're like, "I want something a little bit more," go for the one with copper peptides as well.

Hannah Furst:

But I definitely recommend this serum to anyone. It's pretty much suitable for any skin type.

Joanna Flemming:

Yep.

Hannah Furst:

What's next on your list?

Joanna Flemming:

So I'm going to knock two off the list because they're both designer brands again. Because I actually really like designer brands. So the first one is the Absolute Brow Pencil. I use the shade top. It is, in my humble opinion, a very good dupe for the Hourglass eyebrow pencil. I feel like it goes onto the browse really well. It blends really easily with the hairs. It's got an angle tip, and it's got a spoolie on the other end. And I just think it's a really good brow pencil. I love that. I've been using it for ages.

Hannah Furst:

How much?

Joanna Flemming:

It's $11.99.

Hannah Furst:

That is so cheap!

Joanna Flemming:

I know. And then the other one is the Hydrating Luminis Foundation by Designer Brands, which is $19.99, a bloody bargain because it's a nice foundation.

Hannah Furst:

You love this foundation.

Joanna Flemming:

I really like it. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it, and it's perfect for my skin type because I'm normal to dry, and it's very dewy and, as the name suggests, very luminous. So I tend to powder through the teaser, and I make sure that I set with a spray to keep it in place. But I think from memory there's quite a few shades, and I really love the finish of it. So that's second and third on my list. Give me your next one.

Hannah Furst:

Nice. So I did choose a mascara. Now, as you know with my oily skin, I actually tried a little trick the other day. Our makeup buyer gave me a eye primer. It's not out yet, but it will be soon. And I actually primed underneath my eyes.

Joanna Flemming:

Smart, yep.

Hannah Furst:

And then I actually used this mascara, and it seemed to last. So that's a new little trick I have. So it's the Maybelline Falsies, which you also really like.

Joanna Flemming:

Yes, I really like that. I forgot about that. I should have put that on my list.

Hannah Furst:

So they really lift your lashes, because I think the whole concept is a lash lift. They really, really lift your lashes. It's a really good mascara.

Joanna Flemming:

I have very straight lashes. So I still need the lash lift. Let's be honest, it's not going to work for my eyelashes. Mine are very straight. But it certainly does help to lengthen and separate the lashes and gives them a bit of volume as well, which I definitely need.

Hannah Furst:

What we should actually do is we should use a couple of days makeup products for stories when this episode comes out to just show them people that we're not lying, that these products are actually really good.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, 100%.

Hannah Furst:

I'll actually use that and show you. It gives the lashes a really nice lift. The Falsies are $24.95. And then my other product from Maybelline is the Brow Fast Sculpt Brow Gel. That's $14.95, and that is a clear brow gel.

Joanna Flemming:

Does that come in a tint as well, or is that just clear?

Hannah Furst:

I does come in a tint, but as you know, well, I fill my eyebrows in with my Benefit Precisely My Brow. Do you remember that day when we were recording the podcast and you were like, "Hannah, your brows look so good."

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah.

Hannah Furst:

So I've started brushing my brows up because I've been getting compliments on it. So look, if anyone compliments me on anything, it's just positive affirmation I need to keep doing it. So I've been doing that a lot.

Joanna Flemming:

I'm going to copy you with the Ordinary. I'm not going to recommend the same ones that you recommended, but I really love their Squalane Cleanser. So it's a really gentle cleanser. It feels almost like an oil cleanser, but it's not. It's really hydrating. It's perfect for dry skin types, but any skin type can use it. And I've found myself recommending it to a lot of people who are like, "I just want like three or four products. I don't use anything right now, and I just want to start somewhere." And that's the cleanser that I find myself recommending to people, because it's $13.90. I don't know any other cleanser that's that affordable and is as good as that one. So I really like to recommend that one, and I really like it myself. I've got it in my cupboards. So I do tend to go back to my asap Gentle Cleansing Gel. But I certainly don't mind that one for taking off makeup and just doing a nice cleanse.

Hannah Furst:

Sorry, I did want to ask you about one more Ordinary product, because I brought it home from the office to try while we are in isolation. It's the Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque. My blackheads at the moment are out of control. I was looking at them in the mirror today, and I was like, "I've got to do something about this." Especially while I'm not going out, I thought I could try a few different things. So I was actually going to use that just on my nose and see.

Joanna Flemming:

Yes, good idea.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah, so that one's actually $21.90.

Joanna Flemming:

I recommend using that masque just on areas that you're spot treating, because it will be quite drying if you've got combination skin, especially, and you're applying that on your whole face. I do recommend just applying that through the T zone where you get super oily or you tend to get blackheads.

Hannah Furst:

Do you know what Ruby, my sister's been looking for? As we know, we both suffer from blackheads. Hers are worse than mine. And maybe I'll get us both to try it, and I'll update everyone on our results.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah. Do we before and afters. Do the masque on your nose every second night or something for a week.

Hannah Furst:

I can't take a photo and share it my blackheads. No, I will. I will!

Joanna Flemming:

Well, we share everything else.

Hannah Furst:

I do. I do. I share everything else. What am I talking about? So next on my lips. Yes, well on my lips. But next on my list is Lanolips Banana Lip Sheen. Now I know you like the 101 Ointment, which I also really like, but I am addicted to this stuff. It tastes like bananas. I don't eat it. I don't lick my lips, but it just is the nicest. It must be the scent.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, I think scents often trick your mouth into thinking that you're tasting something that you're not.

Hannah Furst:

The other thing that I really like about this is that if you're not wanting to wear lippy out at night, because it has a shimmery sheen it's also kind of like a gloss. So mine's actually empty at the moment. It's probably one of my fave lip balms, mostly because of the banana scent, because it reminds me of banana cake.

Joanna Flemming:

Yes. And you could put a lip liner underneath to get the color and then do the sheen over the top.

Hannah Furst:

I remember I was in Thailand, and this guy was like, "Oh, can I have a lip balm?" And I gave it to him, and he put it on. He's like, "Does this have shimmer in it?" And I was like, "Oh, sorry."

Joanna Flemming:

I would never share that lip balm with a random person, but okay.

Hannah Furst:

When you kiss a guy you are, no!

Joanna Flemming:

Okay. So you left that part out.

Hannah Furst:

What's next on your list?

Joanna Flemming:

So next on my list is what I clean my makeup brushes with, which is the Dr. Bronner's Castile Liquid Soap. I've got a limited edition, Earl gray one that is no longer available. But I also really love the lavender, which I also have. This is an excellent brush cleaner, but also you can use Dr Bronner's for literally anything. You can use it as a surface cleaner. You can use it as a washing detergent. What else can you use it for? Cleaning brushes.

Hannah Furst:

I see. I use the Cinema Secrets, which is also under $30, the smaller bottle? Yep.

Joanna Flemming:

Is it? Yeah. Cinema Secrets have like 20,000 different size bottles, but the Dr. Bronner's size that I use is $19.95. They've got a few options as well. I think they've got minis too. But I just find that it's really effective for cleaning brushes, gets everything out, and leaves them smelling super nice as well. What is next on yours?

Hannah Furst:

Ah, so I'm back to makeups. So someone had suggested this to me when I first started working Adore when I was looking for a bronzer. So I wasn't a boujee bitch back then. It's theBalm Bahama Mama. It is $29.95. Honestly, I've used a lot of bronzers since then. It's my favorite bronzer.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, you have used that since you started. I've noticed that's been in your makeup bag for the last two years.

Hannah Furst:

It's also really compact, so you can chuck it in your hand bag if you're going out. Because sometimes those compacts are quite big with bronzer.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, it's very slim. A lot of theBalm products are very slim in their packaging, which it makes them easy to travel around with. Next on my list is probably a good one for right about now where everyone's asking about hand creams because their hands are really dry. And I know you love this one too, Hannah. It is Weleda Skin Food. This 75 mil tube is $24.95. This is a beautiful balm, but it's really good as a hand cream as well. I think he would agree with that, Hannah. You used it in your stories, I think, the other day.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah, I did. I'm not a hand cream kind of person, but my hands have been definitely looking worse for wear. But you also recommended putting this on feet, so doing-

Joanna Flemming:

Yes.

Hannah Furst:

Do you know what I'm going to try? I'm going to use my glycolic toning solutions 7%, and then I'm going to use the Weleda Skin Food, because your feet don't need pricey products.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, exactly. So you could use this product anywhere like dry elbows, dry knees, on the bottoms of your feet. Anywhere that needs a bit of extra love you could use this product, because it's so affordable. And it comes in a generous sized tube, easy to travel with. You can use it as a facial moisturizer if you've got really dry skin. Next on your list. You've gone over the budget here.

Hannah Furst:

I'm sorry. Actually, because you get five sheet masks in a pack, technically the sheet mask is less than $30.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, true.

Hannah Furst:

So the L'Oreal Paris Revitalift full of sheet masks. I didn't write the whole name down, but it'll be in the episode notes. It's a five pack. It's $31.95. I think its main ingredient is hyaluronic acid. It's just a really good sheet mask. I got a whole pack of them, and I've been using them all the time. Hyaluronic acid sheet masks, definitely, you always look plumper afterwards.

Joanna Flemming:

For sure.

Hannah Furst:

I'm clearly obsessed with looking plump. Well it's really funny, I'm doing more sheet masks now, and I'm going out less yet.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah. See, my issue with sheet masks is that if I have expensive ones, I never use them because I'm always saving them for a rainy day, and then the rainy day never comes.

Hannah Furst:

Yes, so true.

Joanna Flemming:

Because if I've got an event on, I just completely forget to do it.

Hannah Furst:

So say, for example, I had the Estee Lauder PowerFoil Masks, which are also stunning, and I just keep them for when I have events. But these ones, because they're there so much more affordable. My math is not going to be able to work this out. I want to work out for it-

Joanna Flemming:

Hannah, don't ask me. Please, don't embarrass me.

Hannah Furst:

It's $6.39 for sheet masks.

Joanna Flemming:

Another cheap sheet mask that we have at the innisfree ones. They're $6.

Hannah Furst:

I haven't used those. Next on your list Joanna. Oh my God, you've got haircare. I have no hair care. I'm going to have to think of something.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah. I've got one haircare product. It is the ELEVEN Miracle Hair Treatment, $24.95. Honestly, this is probably one of our most popular products I think in our haircare pedigree.

Hannah Furst:

I think it might be one of our best selling products.

Joanna Flemming:

It probably is. It probably is one of the most popular amongst Olaplex and things like that. But this is a all-round hair treatment. It hydrates, nourishes, strengthens, adds shine. It's just stunning. It smells beautiful. Any hair type can pretty much use it. It's alleviating I believe, so it will just leave your hair feeling very soft, shiny, and like you can run your fingers through it basically.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah, so I've actually never used it. I'll have to give it a go.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, you should get onto it.

Hannah Furst:

Did you say that it has the 11-

Joanna Flemming:

I believe it's got 11 benefits.

Hannah Furst:

11 makes sense.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah. What's your next one? Not that we'll need this in isolation, but ...

Hannah Furst:

I'm still putting lipstick on.

Joanna Flemming:

Are you?

Hannah Furst:

Yeah, absolutely.

Joanna Flemming:

Okay. Maybe I should try that.

Hannah Furst:

And I also I had a video conference call with McKayla from our marketing team, and she was wearing a red lip at home, and she said it just brightened up her morning.

Joanna Flemming:

Oh, I love that for her.

Hannah Furst:

Everyone on the zoom call commented on it and was like, "Love the lippy." And she was like, "I just felt like it would just brighten my day." And I was like, "Yes!"

Joanna Flemming:

Oh, that is so cute. I might put makeup on after we do this recording.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah, I'm very supportive. I'm very supportive of her bright lip [crosstalk 00:26:07]. So I've chosen the MAC Lipsticks. They actually had a price decrease from 36 to $30. So they are come in at 30. I think my favorite MAC lipstick was the one that I wore at the wedding.

Joanna Flemming:

Which was?

Hannah Furst:

Oh my God!

Joanna Flemming:

What?

Hannah Furst:

I just dropped coffee all over my bed. Oh my God.

Joanna Flemming:

Let's be honest. It's not going to look much different to your tan sheets.

Hannah Furst:

Well, now it really looks like I shit the bed.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah.

Hannah Furst:

Okay, so crisis averted. But I have the lipstick, and it is the MAC Amplified Half 'N Half. I actually bought it right after the wedding. I just loved the color so much. It's the perfect lipstick. It's actually a nude pinky, peach color. It does say that it's a creamy pink color on the website, but it's actually got more of a peachy tone to it. It's great. I think if you've got more of an olive skin tone. It suited my wedding makeup absolutely perfectly.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah. It looked very natural on your lips. The elf Poreless Putty Primer is the last one on my list. This is $16, and it's very popular on YouTube. I was doing some YouTube watching last night. It blurs the skin. It's got a really velvety texture. It's got Squalane in it. Again, I've already mentioned the Squalane Cleanser. And it is for all skin types, so great for skins that are worried about enlarged pores like you Hannah. So I think you'd probably love this product, but you can use it on dry skin types as well. Again, just adjust your prep products as well. So we talked last week about you using a moisturizer that was too rich for your skin. So trying to do that stuff.

Hannah Furst:

So the last one on my list is actually from our sex category. It is the Unbound Zip Quartz. It's actually only $26.26. So if you are looking for a bargain vibrator during this time, definitely check this one out. So it is small and pink, kind of looks like a lipstick. It's also battery operated. As it says on the website, it is super small, but packs a punch, which sounds really good. I haven't actually used this one, so I can't give my personal feedback on it, but you can definitely check it out on the website.

Joanna Flemming:

Great. That's our list.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah, I couldn't really think of any haircare, because I do spend the big bucks on the haircare.

Joanna Flemming:

You spend the big bucks.

Hannah Furst:

My hair is, as everyone knows, very unmanageable. So I definitely invest more in my haircare.

Joanna Flemming:

Fair enough. Well, I hope that's been helpful to everybody, and I imagine that a few of you will be adding to cart.

Hannah Furst:

Don't forget that you can always live chat with our customer service team on the site. If you are looking to swap in some more budget friendly products, they can definitely help you with some recommendations.

Joanna Flemming:

Yep. Great tip. Now for our PWDKWN, which is catching on by the way. Someone DM'ed me the other day and said, "By the way, I bought your PWDKWN."

Hannah Furst:

Oh my god, I love that.

Joanna Flemming:

And I was like, "Yes, thank you for using the acronym." It's catching on. What is your product you didn't know you needed this week, Hannah?

Hannah Furst:

So mine is a lip serum. I've been looking for a lip serum.

Joanna Flemming:

We love recommending our lip balm on this show.

Hannah Furst:

I know! Well this is a serum, because you know we love our serums. So it's the Biologi BL Nourish Lip Serum. And initially when I first tried it, I wasn't a hundred percent sure about it. I thought it was a little bit drying on my lips, but my lips since using it, I've noticed that there are a lot smoother, fuller, plumper. I don't know about them scientifically plumping lips like a lip-filler would. But my mom said to me the other day, she's like, "Hannah, have you had filler in your lips?" And I was like, "No, I haven't, but thank you."

Joanna Flemming:

As if you would do that without telling her.

Hannah Furst:

No, I probably would. But she said that they looked a bit plumper. So I don't know. I don't know whether that's a thing, but I've definitely noticed as I'm using this serum that they're looking a lot plumper. So basically, unlike regular lip balms which sit on the top of the lips, this is just like all the other Biologi serums. It's A water soluble serum so it can penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, which will increase suppleness and help with hydration. It's not really a lip balm. It's definitely a serum. You've tried it, haven't you?

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, it kind of sinks into the lips really quickly. It's not an occlusive balm that feels like it's sitting on the surface. It absorbs like a serum would.

Hannah Furst:

So it's really interesting that just like a serum, it is definitely penetrating the deeper layers of the skin so that you are getting probably added hydration.

Joanna Flemming:

And it's basically only got one ingredient.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah. So it's actually finger lime I believe.

Joanna Flemming:

Yep.

Hannah Furst:

And so it has antioxidant protection, and it also lightly exfoliates the surface of the lips. So the other thing about it is it tastes really nice.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, it does actually.

Hannah Furst:

Well, I know that people do a pump of their Biologi serum under their tongue because it's really-

Joanna Flemming:

What?

Hannah Furst:

Yeah. Did you not know that?

Joanna Flemming:

Really? No.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah. So it's one of the only serums that you can actually eat.

Joanna Flemming:

What?

Hannah Furst:

Yeah.

Joanna Flemming:

I did not know that.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah. Because it's literally just got one ingredient, and it's pure plant nutrients.

Joanna Flemming:

Wow, okay.

Hannah Furst:

The reviews that I've also read both on our website and their website is that people that have been using it for a week or a few days are really noticing a difference in the texture and the fullness of their lips. So if you don't believe me and my mom, go ahead and read a few of the reviews.

Joanna Flemming:

Oh, I believe Linda.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah. I found that my lips are less cracked and dry.

Joanna Flemming:

Interesting.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah. So it's not like a traditional lip balm, so I still use a lip balm during the day, and then I put that on at night when I'm putting my other serums on.

Joanna Flemming:

Okay, interesting.

Hannah Furst:

What about you? What's your products. Yours is not beauty related, which I'm loving.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, so I've gone rogue. This is not something that's available that Adore Beauty. So this was something that I had to bring home from the office because I use these every day. So they're my affirmation cards. Don't judge me.

Hannah Furst:

I love your affirmation cards.

Joanna Flemming:

The brand is called Hanako, and a friend got me onto them. I've had them for ages. I'm just getting them out now so that I can pull a card for you, Hannah.

Hannah Furst:

Yes, please.

Joanna Flemming:

You basically shuffle the cards. I don't know if you can hear me shuffling, but you shuffle the cards. You channel your energy into the cards, and then you spread them out, and you pick the cards that speaks to you the most. But I'll just pick out a random card for you, Hannah, and let's see what you get.

Hannah Furst:

Thanks.

Joanna Flemming:

Oh my God.

Hannah Furst:

Oh, what is it?

Joanna Flemming:

Self care. This is self care.

Hannah Furst:

Oh my God. Really?

Joanna Flemming:

Yes, I shit you not. This is not fake guys. I just pulled out self care. It says, "I choose to do something nice for myself. I look after myself with tender, loving care. This could be in the form of buying myself some flowers, receiving a massage, going for a walk along the beach, taking a bath. It's all about me today. There you go.

Hannah Furst:

Oh my god. I love that.

Joanna Flemming:

I can't believe I just pulled out self care. Guys, I'm convinced I'm actually a psychic, so it doesn't surprise me that much. But ...

Hannah Furst:

New career for you. You could actually do psychic readings over the phone.

Joanna Flemming:

I could actually do that. I would do it for my friends.

Hannah Furst:

If this whole beauty thing doesn't work out.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, exactly. So the brand is Hanako. They're called affirmation cards, and I've also got some little sprays on my desk, which I use as well. They're chakra sprays. So I just got into this stuff like last year, so I'm not a professional. But the cards get me through each day. I've said to the girls at work they can video call me anytime if they want an affirmation card, and I'll pull one out for them.

Hannah Furst:

Amazing. Well, another thing that I'm just a bit of a admin, a few people are still messaging us saying, "Can you please list all the products?" As we mentioned in an earlier episode, if you go to www.adorebeauty.com.au/podcast, all of the episodes are on there, and-

Joanna Flemming:

Yes, good reminder.

Hannah Furst:

Yeah. If you click on the individual episode, it'll take you to a list of products. And also if you're a new customer that's never shopped at Adore Beauty, you can get $15 off your first order.

Joanna Flemming:

Yeah, and the products are still listed in the episode notes as well if you don't go to the landing page. But it's up there for you guys if you want to find out what we've talked about.

Hannah Furst:

And we've also in the weeks leading up to this isolation period, we recorded a shit ton of content for YouTube. So if you're really bored at home and you want to watch some videos rather than listen to our voices, definitely go to Adore Beauty.

Joanna Flemming:

Or do both.

Hannah Furst:

Or do both. Go to Adore Beauty on YouTube. I've actually got a video coming up where me and another girl in the office test foundations, and we do a kilometer run, and we choose the best sweat proof foundation. I actually just watched the first edit of it today. I could not stop laughing. It was great.

Joanna Flemming:

Oh, really? Oh my God, send it to me.

Hannah Furst:

I'm not trying to be immodest, but it was really, really funny.

Joanna Flemming:

I look forward to it.

Hannah Furst:

All right, well we will be back next week.

Joanna Flemming:

Look after yourself. See you soon.

Hannah Furst:
