Say goodbye to panda eyes and foundation left behind… I road-tested these cleansers to make sure they were hardworking and effective (even for heavy and waterproof makeup). I removed the makeup from half my face using each cleanser so you could see the difference.
Everyone needs a trusty micellar water – even if it’s not your main cleanser, it’s so good for just refreshing your skin, or quickly removing makeup without needing water (it’s a saviour after a night out). I used Bioderma Sensibio H2O Solution Micellaire Cleanser to remove the makeup from one side of my forehead – it really does cleanse off everything, and doesn’t leave my skin red and blotchy.
Best suited for: Removing light coverage to full coverage foundation and eye makeup.
★★★★★ Excellent Product – Elizabeth
“Purchased this after it being recommend by Lisa Eldridge the make up artist who has used this for years. So glad when I found it in Adore Beauty. I use this mostly for eye makeup removal therefore it goes a long way. Have purchased my second 500ml and will continue to do so.”
Okay, I hadn’t used this cleanser until now – where has it been all my life? PreCleanse is a lightweight cleansing oil that melts into the skin and liquefies your makeup before your eyes. I was so surprised with how effective it was (I’m more of a gel cleanser girl). I’d definitely recommend PreCleanse if you want to ease into using an oil cleanser – I used it to remove the makeup from my cheek/under eye.
Best suited for: Removing any form of makeup, including stubborn and/or waterproof eye makeup.
★★★★★ You need this in your life – Jodi
“This product is absolutely incredible! It is an oil which literally melts a majority of your makeup off and does wonders when paired with a separate cleanser afterwards. It can be used alone, I do this in the morning. I couldn’t recommend this enough…buy it right now!”
So this one is a little different, let me try to explain it. The formula works like an oil cleanser, but acts like a water-based cleanser that rinses away effortlessly with water – make sense? This cleanser is definitely good at its job. I used it to remove the makeup from my jawline and chin, and it left my skin squeaky clean with zero oily residue.
Best suited for: Removing medium coverage makeup – works really well when thoroughly rinsed with water.
★★★★★ Really impressed! – Jo
“I constantly swap face cleansers and have never been loyal to any of them, this however I will be sticking with! It’s like an oil and gets all of my eye makeup off including eyeliner in all my fine little creases. I don’t need to rub it off on a cloth, it just dissolves every trace and then rinses straight off leaving skin soft and clean and with no trace of the oil.”
I had to throw some makeup wipes into the equation so we could compare. I really appreciate makeup wipes in general, mainly because sometimes I’m feeling lazy but I can’t bear the thought of going to bed with makeup on. Well, these wipes are oversized (bonus!) and very gentle – they did remove a majority of my makeup from my eyes, but you can’t go past a traditional cleanser with water for removing stubborn eye makeup.
Best suited for: Removing light-medium coverage foundation – don’t rely on a wipe to remove heavy eye makeup.
