Winter-Safe Bronzers: A Guide For Fair Skin

So many of my fair-skinned friends shy away from bronzers because they can’t quite get their shade right, and nobody wants that ‘muddy’ look do they? But bronzer really can be for everyone, no matter how fair their skin.

Bronzing powders are amazing on fair skin when used to warm up the complexion, add a sunkissed glow or to light sculpt. I’ve put together some of my favourite bronzing powders for fair complexions to get you through the winter months with a faux glow.

For a matte finish: Benefit Hoola Lite

Benefit Hoola has had cult classic status for years but for many fair-skinned ladies, it was just too dark. Well, you’re in luck, Benefit listened! Introducing Benefit Hoola Lite, a lighter version of the infamous Hoola, designed with pale complexions in mind. This finely milled powder has a matte finish so is perfect for both warming up complexions and doubling up for some light contouring. The beautiful formula means effortless blending for a natural look.

★★★★★ Amazing bronzer for pale skin – Kiraq

“This is a great matte shade bronzer for those with pale skin. The original hoola is just that bit too dark and can look muddy if applied to heavily on pale skin. This is the right shade so you can build it up to the depth that you like. I usually always go a shimmery bronzer as I have never found a really good matte bronzer, but this is it. “

For glowy skin: Bobbi Brown Brightening Finishing Powder

If you want a bronzer to illuminate your skin for that ‘just came from the beach look’, try the Bobbi Brown Brightening Finishing Powder in Bronze Glow. This brightening bronzer gives skin a light and natural sunkissed glow by using built-in highlighting pigments. It’s also infused with mulberry and grape extracts to keep skin looking fresh and smooth.

Tip: This bronzer can double as a separate bronzer and highlighter, so if you simply want to use is it a highlighter, just use a small tapered brush, and pick up the highlight shades in the compact. For a more intense highlight, dampen your brush before applying.

For warming up complexions: Pixi Beauty Bronzer + Kabuki

Bronzer can do wonders for warming up cool complexions ahead of the summer months. For a natural skin-like finish the Pixi Beauty Bronzer + Kabuki in Subtly Suntouched is a gorgeous choice. The silky-smooth and long-wearing formula enhances fair skin tones whilst adding a touch of luminosity to the skin. Our set even comes with a Kabuki brush so you’re set from the get-go to start buffing in your new bronzer.

Tip: This is quite a warm bronzer with a subtle yet buildable finish. What I love most about it, is that on my skin tone it has a rosy effect, like using a light blush, so instead of strictly using it to sculpt my cheekbones, I gently blend a bit of product onto the apples of my cheeks as well.

For multi-purpose bronzing: Youngblood Mineral Radiance

For me, nothing beats a multi-tasker and the Youngblood Mineral Radiance in Sundance is a wonderful option for those looking to get a little bit more out of their bronzer. Divided into four stunning shades, they can either be blended together for a soft and peachy bronze or used separately. The ultra-light and easily to blend formula is perfect for paler skin tones.

Tip: Ah, how good is multi-purpose? You can use this single compact for bronzing, contouring, highlighting, as a blusher or even for eyeshadows. I use the darkest brown shade as an eye-defining shadow, and I place the lightest shade in the inner corners of my eye for the illusion of bigger, wide-awake eyes.
