When the skin is dry it needs natural oils as well as water to begin to normalise again, so it’s important to select the right cleanser, serum and moisturiser that will deliver key ingredients to re-balance the skin.
A cream cleanser will be the most nourishing and comforting option for dry skin. Selecting a serum that contains natural oils like Vitamin E (Tocopherol) and vitamin B5 as well as hyaluronic acid, which seriously boosts hydration levels, will help to put nutrients into the skin and will work to prevent further moisture loss. A moisturiser designed for dry skin will hydrate, putting water back into the skin, and nourish, balancing the skin with natural oils.
Exfoliation is often overlooked in treating dry skin. Gently exfoliating the skin two to three times a week will help to slough off flaky dead skin cells so that your products are able to get into the skin far better.
It’s also important to ensure your diet contains a balance of natural oils. Flaxseed oil is a great supplement to boost the body’s omega 3 oils, helping the skin to feel supple once more.
