The Ultimate Shampoo For Damaged Tresses Is Here

Top knots, ocean swims and my ghd straightener are three of my favourite things in this world. But sadly, those three things are also terrible for my hair.

My locks love to be kept nourished and hydrated, left alone by hot tools and not scrunched into a hideous pile on top of my head for five days straight. Yet somehow, that’s what always ends up happening.

The punishment for my behaviour comes in the form of dry and damaged hair, along with lots of split ends. It’s not cute.

Whenever I haven’t been treating my hair well, my hairdresser gives me this ~look~. It’s terrifying. She’s too polite to actually say anything to my face, but I can always tell when things aren’t looking good.

“It’s a bit dry, isn’t it?” I offer, and she always takes a few seconds to pretend to inspect my split ends, as if she hasn’t been judging them for the past 45 minutes.

She snips them off and then thrusts a glorious hair treatment product into my hands and begs me to use it every time I wash my hair. But of course, I never do. And thus the cycle of self-hatred continues. Sigh

So What Do We Do While We Can't Rely On Our Beloved Hairdresser?

The obvious repair solution for hair that hasn’t been treated the way it deserves to be (I’m sorry!) is an intensive treatment like Olaplex’s No.3, or a nourishing mask like Moccoran Oil’s Intense Hydrating Mask. They’re wonderful for hair that needs a bit of extra TLC.

But if you’re super busy (read: super lazy) like me, taking the time to work these treatments into your hair washing routine can be a bit tricky. Sometimes it’s hard enough just trying to fit washing my hair into my weekly schedule (we’ve all seen the meme), let alone a full on treatment regimen on top of that.

Thankfully, there’s a new repairing shampoo and conditioner duo on the market that does all the hard work for you, and all you need to do is wash your hair like you normally do. Say hello to ELEVEN's Repair My Hair Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner.

Is This The Best Shampoo For Dry and Damaged Hair?

Most shampoos and conditioners do exactly what they say on the tin - they cleanse, then hydrate the hair. But ELEVEN's Repair My Hair Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner do more than just that - they also repair your locks while you’re busy doing your thang in the shower.

This is also one of the best shampoos for damaged bleached hair that needs some extra loving, thanks to its three key added benefits:

  • There’s an in-built heat protectant in both products, protecting hair from heat damage up to 220°C

  • Both the shampoo and conditioner are clinically proven to increase thickness and volume by 32 per cent

  • The special boosted formula helps repair and rebuild the bond structure of the hair

Melbourne-based celebrity hairstylist Joey Scandizzo, who’s been crowned Australian Hairdresser of the Year, explained why this is the best shampoo for damaged hair.

“This is a combination product. It builds up your bonds, it strengthens the hair and adds thickness and volume. That’s three amazing benefits that your hair will love,” Joey told Beauty IQ

He explained the strengthening shampoo and conditioner duo is designed to be used on its own, so you don’t have to bother with treatment masks or heat protecting products.

“The repair shampoo and conditioner contains a heat protectant, and if you’re using styling tools, you need a heat protectant. Plus, it gives the hair 32 per cent more thickness and volume and it contains bond-repairing ingredients.”

Hold Up. What Are “Bond-Repairing Ingredients?”

Our hair is made up of a strong type of protein called keratin, and deep within the hair are loads of “bonds” that strengthen and reinforce the hair fibre. Of course, things like heat, salt water and a lack of TLC can break these bonds, causing poor hair quality. However, there are products we can use that help boost these bonds and bring our hair back to life.

“If you think of Olaplex, it contains bond-building ingredients, and that same product is the key ingredient in this shampoo and conditioner,” Joey explained.

“It helps you build that strength back up. It’s really an innovative new product,” he said.

And judging by our five star reviews, which you can read here, and the glowing feedback Joey has received from his clients, this shampoo and conditioner duo works a treat.

“The feedback has been that after three or four applications, you’ll start to see results,” he said.

Should We Be Double-Washing?

And finally, if you’re wondering how often you need to use these products to see results, Joey says there is no hard and fast rule about how many times you should wash your hair per week. It really depends on the individual.

But he will say this: You know how you double cleanse your face at night? Once to get rid of makeup and grime, and a second time to actually get in there and do the cleansing? You should be doing the same for your hair.

“When you are washing your hair, wash it twice,” Joey said.

“The first shampoo lifts the grime and grease out of the hair, and the second one actually cleanses it. And because the shampoo opens the hair cuticles, the conditioner at the end helps to close the cuticles and lock in moisture.”
