HOW TO: Keep Your Coloured Hair Vibrant and Healthy with Chloe Nguyen

When it comes to bleaching and dying her hair, Chloe Nguyen from our Warehouse team has been through it all.

Anyone who has tried to maintain vibrant, coloured hair, knows how much work it is to stop it fading and avoid unnecessary breakage.

So, if this is a problem you’ve continued to face, then follow Chloe’s routine and turn your coloured hair journey into a success story.

How Do I Keep My Coloured Hair Healthy?

Coloured hair can easily become very dry and damaged, so keeping it healthy is no easy feat!

When getting the colour you want requires both bleaching and colouring, our hair cuticle becomes over exposed and eventually damaged due to this process.

Keeping coloured hair healthy means hydrating it, avoiding over-washing your hair and nourishing it with the right treatments.

To help you figure out the do’s and don’ts of coloured hair, Chloe Nguyen explains her routine to us in easy steps.

Chloe’s Bright & Bodacious Hair Routine:

Step 1: A weekly mask

Step 1: A weekly mask

Chloe uses the Fanola After Colour Care Mask once or twice a week for 30-60 minutes while doing a chore or watching a tv show. You can also use this mask in the shower for 5 minutes! Simply apply and rinse off when you’re ready. This mask contains Beta Carotene, which converts into Vitamin A, an essential ingredient for cell growth!

Step 2: Colour care duo

Step 2: Colour care duo

Chloe rinses out the Fanola After Colour Care Mask with the Fanola Nutri Care Duo. This duo contains a restructuring shampoo and conditioner that strengthen and rehydrate the hair. If you’re a fan of the Glasshouse A TAHAA AFFAIR Candle 380g, you’ll love this scent!

Step 3: Salon quality treatment

Step 3: Salon quality treatment

Chloe is a long time fan of the Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 Home Treatment. You can use this treatment 2-3 times a week on damp hair, just leave it in for a minimum of 10 minutes before rinsing. This treatment helps to rebuild the broken bonds of your hair.

Step 4: A nourishing hair oil

Step 4: A nourishing hair oil

Everyday Chloe runs a pump of the MOROCCANOIL Original Oil Treatment through the ends of her dry hair. This treatment adds shine and smells amazing!

Colour Maintenance Tips:

  • To keep your colour intact, Chloe recommends that you avoid your hair at least 72 hours after colouring it. This helps the colour to seal itself in, and will also help to reduce fading.

  • Don’t brush or pull at your hair when it is wet, your hair is at its weakest! Instead of using a towel, Chloe recommends you lightly ring out your hair with an old tshirt. This helps to avoid breakage.

  • If you can, try to avoid heat styling in general. Heat styling can strip away colour over time without a good heat protectant. When blowdrying your hair use a medium-low heat setting.
