This Is The Eyeshadow Look You’re Seeing Everywhere This Season

If you’re not across the best beauty accounts on Instagram, you may not be aware of the new look taking over 2017.

Although I’d already seen this look gaining traction, I didn’t quite expect to see it in so many entries in our Search For An Amateur Makeup Artist competition.

What’s This Look All About?

Okay, for non-beauty gurus or anti-makeup enthusiasts, pink eye shadow probably sounds like a terrible idea. And you know what, you’re probably right if it isn’t executed well. But regardless of risking looking like you have an eye infection, pink, bronze and gold tones are trending – and you guys are pulling it off!

Paired with shimmers, brown tones and smokey black shades, the soft pink-copper-bronze colours are changing up the standard smokey eye shadow look with a pop of colour. I’m dabbling in this trend at the moment, and slowly working up the courage to go a bit bolder.

How To Recreate It:

You’ll need Garbo & Kelly’s Overnight Sensation Palette. This palette is my personal favourite, because I actually don’t need anything else. I’ve got muted options or I’ve got colour options, and a mixture of shimmer and matte -what more could you want?

The shades you want to use for this look are Astrid, Ophelia, Gemini and Aurora (below) – then you can choose to add in a dark brown or black along the lash line or through the crease.

I usually apply Ophelia and Gemini over the mobile lid and through the crease, covering the whole lid.

Depending on how dramatic I want to be, I’ll either use Astrid or Aurora in the socket, blending it out really well across the length of the brow bone, bringing it up towards my brow. I then bring my pink shade underneath my lower lash line, and deepen it with a medium brown matte shade over the top.

These are all shimmers, so if you prefer matte shadows, I recommend using shades Aries and Halley instead of Ophelia and Gemini – I often do this if I don’t want too much shimmer.

I have very dark brown eyes, so I personally feel Astrid suits me better as a pink-orange shade, but for blue or green eyes, Aurora is perfect!
