In Partnership With Medik8

If you spend enough time on SkinTok, or in skin clinics, you’ve probably heard whispers about PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide).
It’s one of those ingredients that all of a sudden seems to be everywhere, and it’s usually attached to words like “glass skin” and "regenerative", but like most buzzy skincare ingredients, the science tends to get lost in the virality of it all.
But now, Medik8 has entered the chat and is launching their Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Serum. A serum designed to “visibly refine skin tone and texture while boosting overall luminosity and support calm, healthy-looking skin”. And unlike some trend-led launches, Medik8 always leans heavily into the science, so we need to discuss.
You see, as a dermal clinician, I’m always interested to see where the industry is heading, especially when it comes to ingredients that sit in that “advanced skincare meets in-clinic inspo” space.
So let’s break down some of the hyped-up ingredients in this serum, so you can decide whether a product like this is worth adding to your routine.
Firstly, What Is PDRN?
PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide and has traditionally been used in regenerative medicine. It’s known for supporting skin repair processes and helping to improve the appearance of stressed-out skin.
In skincare, PDRN predominantly relates to hydration, skin quality, luminosity as well as looking after your barrier. It’s also been associated heavily with “glass skin", which is an aesthetic stemming from South Korea.
But to be honest, what makes this ingredient so interesting, is that it reflects where skincare is moving overall. Which is veering away from aggressive anti-ageing messaging from the past, and now, it seems as though we’re heading towards skin quality and long-term skin health. Which is a great vibe tbh.
Exosomes in Skincare
Exosomes are probably one of the most talked-about concepts in professional skin circles right now.
They’re essentially tiny messenger vesicles that help cells communicate with one another, and in the cosmetic space, exosome-inspired skincare is being explored for its ability to support skin rejuvenation and overall skin appearance.
So essentially what Medik8 are doing with this new product, is combining that futuristic-feeling skin science conversation we’re all having in clinic with a formula that feels approachable enough for everyday skincare users. Which is interesting.
Although I have heard that this particular serum is also designed to be used post-clinical treatment and/or alongside treatments like skin needling too (which, as a dermal clinician, I am excited to try as well.)
Inside Medik8’s Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Serum Ingredients:
Now onto the full 411 on this serum, because in order to understand it, we need to get into the main ingredients doing the heavy lifting (alongside their touted benefits).
Prismatic PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide): This is the main one. Medik8’s vegan PDRN technology. Which is an ingredient Medik8 have formulated with to penetrate deeper into the skin and support luminosity, smoother texture and healthier-looking skin overall.
Triple Exosome Complex: they’ve also used an exosome-inspired complex, which is designed to support skin repair, resilience and barrier function while helping stressed, dull skin look fresher and more radiant.
GF MiniProtein™; additionally, they’ve used growth factor-inspired peptide technology that supports collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production for skin that looks firmer, bouncier and more plump. And finally…
ATP Precursor: Think of this ingredient as energy support for the skin, helping optimise natural rejuvenation processes so skin looks more revitalised and healthy.
I also love that it’s a barrier-supportive formulation. Meaning it’s fragrance-free and designed with compromised or sensitised skin in mind, making it particularly appealing for anyone focused on barrier health and can provide post-procedure support. I.e it’s a really interesting option for people investing in in-clinic treatments who want skincare that supports skin recovery in between appointments to help tackle lack of glow and for skin that looks smoother and brighter over time.
How to use Medik8 Exo-PDRN Prismatic?

After cleansing in the morning and evening, apply 1-2 pumps of Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ evenly across the face, neck & décolletage. Use light upward strokes and allow to fully absorb.
My Medik8 Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Review

Personally, I really liked this serum. The first thing I noticed was the glow. My skin skin also looked more hydrated, fresh and “awake” after applying it.
It gives that bouncy, healthy-looking finish without feeling heavy or greasy. It’s a lightweight gel-serum texture and I found it easy to layer both morning and night alongside the rest of my routine. Kind of like a boosted hydration step before my actives.
Plus, as a dermal clinician, I can absolutely see this becoming a beautiful add-on product in clinic for the right person. But… and this is important… I also think people can sometimes get caught up chasing the newest “it” serum before getting their foundations right first.
So if this serum sounds like it could be for you, I want to double check that you have the right foundations set up, because no “glow serum” will outperform the basics: a consistent routine, retinoids, daily SPF and ingredients suited to your actual skin concerns.
Once those foundations are in place though? This is the kind of product I’d consider an “elevated extra” for someone wanting more luminosity, barrier support and healthy, expensive-looking skin.
Finally...
You could also pair it with another one of Medik8’s hero products, the Advanced Pro-Collagen+ Peptide Cream.
Which is rich without feeling heavy, and together = more glow, hydration and supporting skin health long-term.
