You’ve probably heard of the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, yeah? You know, the famous moisturiser and primer hybrid that takes your skin care and makeup from zero to 100/10 real quick?

So, when Bobbi Brown announced it was releasing an eye primer version of its cult classic face moisturiser and primer - Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base - I knew I had to try it out.

The Bobbi Brown eye primer promises to replace your morning eye cream, moisturising your under-eye area with skincare ingredients while providing the perfect base for your concealer.

Sounds like a win-win to me, but is it as good as everyone says it is?

So, What Is the Bobbi Brown Eye Base?

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base is basically a multivitamin for your under eyes, keeping the skin nourished while creating a smooth canvas for concealer.

It contains shea butter, hyaluronic acid, caffeine and a blend of B Vitamins to hydrate and refresh the skin under and around your eyes, and soften the look of fine lines = no creasy concealer!

The formula is rich but light and non-greasy, and has a beautiful cushiony finish to help your concealer easily glide onto the skin and stay in place all day. In other words, it's magic in a 15ml pot.

Here’s what the eye primer looks like up close.

How Is Bobbi Brown Eye Base Different To Bobbi Brown Face Base?

There are some minor differences, starting with the important point that Face Base is not specifically designed to be used around the eye area. Hence, Eye Base was born.

Beyond this, the Bobbi Brown Eye Base is suitable for all skin types and contains Vitamins B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12, as well as caffeine to de-puff tired eye bags.

The Bobbi Brown Face Base, however, is recommended for normal to oily skin types, has a light and delicious grapefruit scent, and contains Vitamins C and E, in addition to Vitamin B.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base Ingredients.

Here's a quick run down of all the ingredients in this eye primer/eye cream hybrid product:

1. Vitamins B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12:

B vitamins help to strengthen weakened skin - a must when dealing with the delicate under-eye area. They also help to improve the skin’s texture and soften fine lines.

2. Sodium Hyaluronate:

This is a small molecular version of hyaluronic acid that provides deep hydration to plump the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines.

3. Caffeine:

Caffeine in skin care can reduce puffiness and dark circles, and awaken the under-eye area because, who actually gets enough sleep these days anyway?

4. Shea Butter:

Shea butter is deeply hydrating, and can also stimulate collagen production to increase the firmness of the skin.

It's worth noting: Even though this product contains rich, hydrating ingredients, the texture isn't so thick that it might cause milia aka little white dots under your eyes.

You can learn more about milia in this episode of the Beauty IQ Uncensored podcast below!

How To Use Bobbi Brown Eye Base.

Bobbi Brown Eye Base is suitable for daily use, and is the perfect addition to your morning routine.

You can use it as an eye cream on no makeup days, and a primer before applying concealer.

Apply a small amount to the under-eye area after your morning cleanse. Trust me, a little bit of this product goes a long way.

Blend the eye primer into the skin using your ring finger and a gentle patting motion.

My Bobbi Brown Eye Base Review.

Let the spilling of the tea commence!

The packaging of the Bobbi Brown eye primer is simple, but luxe. The clear pot shows off the pastel yellow colour, and is also a handy way to track how much product you have left.

The first thing that struck me when I opened the eye primer was the scent. It has a pleasant fragrance - light, crisp and fresh. As you can see in the swatch below, the cream has a yellow tint, but once absorbed, it's undetectable.

Next up, let's talk about the texture. The Bobbi Brown eye primer has a cushiony, whipped butter-like texture. It’s thick, but not heavy. A little bit of the eye primer goes a long way, which means the small pot will last you longer than you'd expect.

I love that it's a true multi-use product - I've been wearing it on no makeup days because it really hydrates and brightens up the under-eye area (which is a win for me as my eyes have been worse for wear lately thanks to hay fever season and endless zoom calls!).

The formula is so hydrating, I've also been wearing it as an overnight mask to keep my eyes looking fresh. Here’s me sans-makeup wearing Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base under my eyes (left) and again once it'd absorbed (right).

As promised, the eye primer does its job and sits really well under concealer.

I found my usual concealer glided on and blended in easily, and stayed in place all day - it even stuck it out through some hot, humid Melbourne days.

Here’s me post-makeup application, wearing concealer applied on top of the product under my eyes.

Because I take my product reviewing very seriously, I wore the Bobbi Brown eye primer daily for two weeks to test it out. I was so impressed, I’ve continued wearing it daily since.

Now, my dark circles won't do concealer without it.
