Why This 'Miracle' Hair Mask Is Absolutely Worth Its Price Tag

It has to be said, more expensive doesn't always equal better in the beauty industry. But sometimes, it does.

But before making a beauty splurge - regardless of your budget or financial means - you just wanna hear from someone who's tried the product and can tell you if it's really that good.

Thankfully, that's literally my whole job as a beauty editor.

What Is the Shu Uemura Ultimate Reset Mask?

No exaggeration, the Shu Uemura Ultimate Reset Mask 200ml is basically a defibrillator for your hair, bringing all hair types back to life, especially those that have suffered damage from heat styling, bleaching and colouring.

The deeply nourishing and restorative mask formula delivers ridiculously soft, shiny, smooth hair in five to 10 minutes. How? By strengthening the hair fibres from within using extremely fine droplets that can penetrate the hair shaft and bind the hair cuticle and cortex to prevent further breakage.

My Shu Uemura Ultimate Reset Mask Review.

Following the instructions, I used the Shu Uemura Ultimate Reset Mask 200ml in place of my regular conditioner, after shampooing twice with a scalp scrub and a clarifying shampoo.

The texture is so rich and moisturising, I only used a small 20-cent-sized scoop of product to coat the mid-lengths and ends of my long hair, before securing it using a claw hair clip and getting on with other shower tasks for a few minutes. (You can leave the mask on for up to 10 minutes if you've got the time!)

Immediately, I got that silky soft feeling while rinsing the mask out under cold water, but it wasn't until I took off my towel hair turban about an hour later that I really noticed just how hydrated my hair felt, even while it was still damp.

I didn't apply any hair serums, oils or blow dry creams, but blow drying was super easy and quick, and I didn't have to fight my way through random knots and tangles like I normally would.

The result? Maybe the softest, most touchable hair of my life that looked sleek and shiny, and didn't feel heavy or flat.

Case in point: When I emerged from the bathroom, my partner commented on how nice my hair looked. Naturally, I told him to touch it. And smell it. He approved.

Now, let's address the price tag. Yes, this mask costs $68, but the 200ml tub is a fair bit bigger than a lot of masks I've tried for a similar price. I reckon I would get about eight to 10 uses out of it on my long hair, which would work out to last me roughly two to three months. Not bad at all.

And another thing, this mask smells incredible. The scent reminds me of a luxe fragrance - it's noticeable, but not overpowering. The deep emerald and gold packaging is also very lush, and took my shower caddy from a 4/10 to a solid 15.

But alas, I'm just one person and what works for me and my hair might not work for you and yours.
