If you’re new to styling with hot tools, or just want to perfect your technique, then these simple and easy routines are here to help you transform flat hair into full, bouncy curls.
In her first routine, hair specialist Amy Creten shows us how to get bouncy curls and a high half pony, before showing us how to get loose waves with a pinned twist.
Both these hairstyles different products and tools from Olaplex and Cloud Nine, which can be used together to create protected and perfected looks with heat.
Put the temperature of your CLOUD NINE Original Iron at 200 degrees. Taking larger sections, start curling your hair, working from the front. Don’t hold the curl for too long and focus the heat towards the ends of your hair.
Using your eyebrows as a guide, pull back the top section of your hair into a high ponytail using a hair tie. (We suggest Kitsch Recycled Nylon Elastics - Black). Take most of the hair from the crown, and not the back of the head.
Step 6: Twist and Pin
Step 6: Twist and Pin
Twist a piece of your hair around the Invisibobble Original and pin it with a bobby pin for a pulled together look.
Step 7: Teased ponytail
Step 7: Teased ponytail
With your paddle brush, tease your pony a little bit for volume.
Turn your CLOUD NINE The Wide Iron up to 200 degrees. Create even waves by pulling the styler slowly away from the face with the hair wrapped around the tongs. Make sure to keep your ends a little straight and angle your styler downwards.
Step 3: Brush out your waves

Brush out your waves with a large paddle brush.
Step 4: Shine and repair
Step 4: Shine and repair
Using 2 drops of the Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil, run the through the lengths of the hair for shine and repair. It also dramatically reduces frizz.
From both sides grab a few pieces of hair and twist them. Grab one bit of hair from the end of the twist out, lifting it up and pull it. This sort of teases the hair in a way and gives your twist some texture.
Step 7: Pin it
Step 7: Pin it
When you’re doing the bobby pins push up and in. Pin both twists to the back and connect the two twists by tying the ends of the hair together.
Step 8: Finish with the haze
Step 8: Finish with the haze
Spray and distribute the evo haze styling powder pump throughout the hair for texture. This will help it stay full.
