This muk Curling Wand Is the Best I’ve Ever Tried (& I’ve Tried Them All)

Muk Curl Stick v 2.0 Review Muk Curl Stick v 2.0 Review

If I had a 'signature hairstyle', it'd be voluminous waves with lots of texture and body.

I've definitely tried many different curling wands and waving tools over the years, but there's one I always come back to:

The muk curl stick.

I purchased my first muk stick in 2016, so I’ve been a muk user for over six years now!

At the time, I had a casual job while studying at uni, so I saved up for a few months and bought it after seeing a hairstylist rave about it on Instagram.

It was worth every penny!

So when I heard muk was launching at Adore Beauty, I immediately put my hand up to trial Muk Curl Stick V 2.0 - the new and improved curling wand.

My trusty 2016 muk stick model is still going strong. Keep reading for my muk curling wand review, plus a tutorial that proves it's one of the easiest curling wands to use.

What Is the muk Curl Stick?

Muk Curl Stick V 2.0 is a 4-in-1 styling tool for anyone who wants to curl or wave their hair.

When the original muk stick launched, the multi-attachment design pretty much revolutionised the world of hair tools.

Retailing for $159.95, here's what you can expect from the Curl Stick V2.0:

  • 4 interchangeable titanium coated barrels that allow you to create the exact type of curl/style you are envisioning with the click of a button.

  • Rapid heat up time, and 5 temperature settings - 120°, 150°, 170°, 190° and 200°C.

  • Microprocessor technology ensures even and consistent temperature is delivered throughout each barrel, meaning your curls are always bouncy, beautiful and perfect.

  • The titanium coated barrels disperse a dry heat that works to deliver increased shine whilst reducing hair static.

  • Ever been trying to curl your hair and the power point is just a little bit too far away for you to easily see yourself in the mirror? The muk stick has a 3m 360° swivel cord.

  • Wanna know where to buy muk hair products and styling tools? Right here at Adore Beauty!

Now onto the muk stick attachments and how to use them to create different styles:

  • 19-25mm conical barrel for medium curls and movement.

  • 25-25mm straight barrel for soft, flowing, bouncy curls.

  • 28-22mm wedge barrel for long-lasting bouncy curls to soft, sexy beach waves.

  • 38-27mm oval barrel for long-lasting, deep, luscious waves and glamorous curls.

I gave each barrel a test run in the YouTube video below.

Here's a step-by-step guide to how I like to use the muk curling wand to create my signature voluminous waves:

Step 1: Apply a heat protectant - I use Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Miracle Hair Elixir - and brush the hair so it's free from knots.

Step 2: Section hair off into smaller layers so you can style with ease. A little bit of Muk Fat muk Volumiser on damp hair in the roots will add weightless body.

Step 3: Select your barrel size (I'm loving the oval shape at the moment) and turn on the muk Stick. Select your heat temperature, wait five seconds and away you go!

Step 4: I like to point the muk curler diagonally downwards and then wrap the hair around the barrel.

Pro tip: To create a voluminous look, I like to curl the hair away from my face.

The easiest way to remember how to do this is to wrap the hair anti-clockwise around the curling barrel for the left side of your head, and clockwise for the right side.

Step 5: Once all of my hair has been curled, I let the curls cool off and set before gently brushing through them with a comb from the Mermade Hair The Comb Kit or any wide-tooth comb you have at home.

Step 6: R+Co BALLOON Dry Volume Spray is great to spray at the roots of my hair to add some body. Wella SP Luxe Oil Reconstructive Elixir on the ends of my hair also locks in moisture and shine.

Step 7: Once I’m happy with the look I set it all in place with some Mr. Smith High Hold Hairspray 200g and we are good to go!

My muk Curl Stick Review.

If you’re on the hunt for the best curling wand, I would really recommend taking a look at the muk curl stick V2.0.

My hair always looks super voluminous and feels really lustrous after using the muk stick.

Not to mention all the compliments and questions I get asking me what I used to style my hair.

From the amount of styles you can create, to the additional features, it really is great value for money when you compare the price and features to other stylers on the market.

Here's a look at my muk curl stick before and after results!

One of the standout features for me is the five-second rapid heat up time.

This blew my mind, and it's by FAR the quickest heat up time I’ve experienced in any curling tool or straightener.

The five heat settings is another great feature many curling wands don’t offer.

This allows you to tailor the temperature of the tool to your individual hair needs whilst also giving you the option of styling your locks without extreme heat.

Changing the barrels is super easy, too. All in all, it's a super efficient styling experience.

Final Verdict...

I might be biased given I've been using my muk stick for years, but I'd recommend the muk curl stick to anyone who:

  • Wants to create several different styles of curls and waves using the one hair tool.

  • Likes the idea of choosing their own temperature setting.

  • Is time-poor and needs an easy-to-use tool that works fast.

  • Is looking for a multi-curl styler at a competitive price.

If you want a curler that can deliver four different types of curls at the click of a button, is excellently priced and looks after the health of your hair...

I think you might have just found your new hair BFF.
