Before Balmain Paris Hair Couture launched at Adore Beauty, I stumbled across the brand at the Sydney Hair Expo. I was there to see Jen Atkin's Dyson masterclass, and despite having her own haircare brand, she couldn't stop raving about Balmain's Session Spray. I went straight from Jen's masterclass to their exhibit to see what all the fuss was about. As soon as I arrived, my coworkers could not drag me away. So, they left me there, umming and ahhing over the above-mentioned $350 hair barrette.
As I left the exhibit empty handed, I went through five distinct phases of grief, and quickly decided to run back and purchase it. You only live once right? And despite the bougie price point, I have not regretted it! It's my most versatile hair accessory - from a black tie event, to the races, to work - it suits any outfit and occasion (okay, maybe not the supermarket run).
I created a little video to show you how I style my hair using Balmain Hair Couture. Their products all contain Silk Proteins - which form a transparent film that seals the cuticle and prevents further damage to the hair - and the highly nourishing Argan Oil. The best bit in my humble opinion? They're scented with signature Balmain fragrance of fresh florals and spice.
Now for the best bit. Inspired by the Balmain Fall/Winter 2018 collection, this barrette is made of genuine suede and napa leather, and comes with a 14k gold plated engraved hair pin. Place the Hair Barrette over the ponytail and secure with the 14k gold plated hairpin.
