When I first heard about the Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentrate Moisturiser, I did what anyone would do... I jumped on Google to see what all the hype was about.
Search result after search result, I read reviews from makeup artists, celebrities, magazine editors and everyday people claiming this French pharmaceutical cream was their number one favourite skincare product.
No one was saying anything negative.
In fact, Adore customers rate it an impressive 4.6 out of five from nearly 500 reviews.
Apparently, this face cream also has a minimum of five uses (as seen in this TikTok video from @embryolisse_australia):
1. A primer for flawless makeup application.
2. A moisturiser for all skin types.
3. A makeup remover.
4. An overnight hydration mask.
5. A post-shave body cream.

Only problem?
Embryolisse was almost impossible to find in Australia.
Thankfully, the previously always sold out Embryolisse moisturiser is available at Adore Beauty.
Being an unofficial aficionado of all things for dry and sensitive skin, I've been using the original Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentrate, as well as the Lait Crème Sensitive Cream to compare the pair.
Here's everything you need to know about this cult product, including whether it's worth the hype and which one is right for your skin.

What Is Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré Moisturiser?

Excellent question, here's the short version:
  • Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Moisturiser 75ml is an affordable multipurpose product from a trusted pharmaceutical brand.
  • Known as ‘the 24-hour miracle cream’, this five-in-one product promises to hydrate, smooth, soften, brighten and plump the appearance of skin.
  • It creates a smooth barrier for any makeup base so if you have dry or patchy skin, this is a must-have to apply before your foundation for a flawless finish.
  • Is Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré non-comedogenic (non-pore clogging)? Yep! This means the Embryolisse cream will keep you hydrated and glowy, but never greasy.
  • Contains emollient, skin barrier-loving ingredients like shea butter, beeswax, soy protein and non-comedogenic mineral oil.

Embryolisse Moisturiser vs. Embryolisse Sensitive.

PSA: Embryolisse has just launched a sensitive version of this cult classic so everyone can enjoy the benefits.
Yes, even those with reactive skin like mine.
But how is the Embryolisse Lait-Creme Sensitive Cream 100ml different to the original Embryolisse?
In short, it's the fragrance. But here's a more detailed break down.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Moisturiser:

  • Active ingredients are Aloe Vera, Soy Proteins, Shea Butter and Beeswax.
  • Suitable for adults, and most skin types.
  • Has a strong fragrance.
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Sensitive Cream:
  • Embryolisse Lait-Creme Sensitive Cream 100ml has seven uses: Moisturiser, hydrating mask, makeup primer, makeup remover, after shave lotion, body lotion and baby cream.
  • Same great ingredients.
  • Suitable for all ages, including babies.
  • Best for sensitive, sensitised and reactive skin.
  • Fragrance free, hypoallergenic formula.

Embryolisse Moisturiser Reviews.

First, I had to put this product to the test to see if you can really use it in more than five different ways.
Here's my Embryolisse Review:
  • Makeup primer: Apply a small amount (10 cent piece) after your morning skin care to ensure your makeup goes on evenly and lasts all day.
  • Moisturiser: Apply as the last step of your morning or evening skincare routine (Cleanse > Serum > Embryolisse).
  • After shaving: No need to do anything else after shaving, just pop some of this on.
  • Makeup remover: Apply the cream and then use a reusable cotton round to gently wipe makeup off.
  • Hydrating mask: Apply a thick layer after your evening skincare and leave on for 15 minutes or overnight before rinsing.
If I'm honest, as a makeup remover was my least favourite way to use the product. I prefer a cleansing oil, but if you were stuck or had limited packing space, it does the trick.
But using Embryolisse as a hydrating mask? It left my skin feeling super soft and bouncy. Exhibit A.

But my favourite way to use the Embryolisse cream is as a makeup primer.
It truly leaves me with a subtle glow, while hydrating my dry skin. The silky soft Embryolisse texture is a joy to apply because it leaves a non-greasy veil over my skin.
It's thin and weightless yet very comforting, and it gives a beautiful canvas for foundation if you like a dewy makeup look.
I tested both the Lait Crème Concentré Moisturiser and the Lait-Creme Sensitive Cream under makeup and surprisingly - to me and my sensitive face - my favourite was the original.
Here's how my makeup looked wearing the original Embryolisse underneath.

That said, I couldn’t really see a difference between the texture and finish of the Embryolisse original and Embryolisse sensitive cream. So it comes down to fragrance.
My skin didn’t react negatively to the fragrance (it’s a clean light floral), but if you think your skin might, then go the Embryolisse Sensitive.
Same goes if you want to be able to use the product on children and babies too.
Finally, I can say that yes, this product is worth the hype.
A great multipurpose product that makes my skin glow? Add to cart.
