Never Wait For Your Nails To Dry Again
Joanna Fleming

The only time a woman is helpless, is while she’s waiting for her nail polish to dry. It’s the down side of doing your own manicure (that, and accidentally touching a nail before it’s dry). But what if I told you there was a product you could drip onto your self-manicured nails which would make them dry almost instantly?

Hello OPI Drip Dry Drops, goodbye smudged nails! This product is an absolute must-have in my opinion – I’ve been using OPI Drip Dry Drops for about a year now, and I actually don’t know how I managed without this product.

Why You Need OPI Drip Dry Drops:

– Designed to dry nail polish to the touch in just 60 seconds

– Leaves the nails completely dry in five minutes

– The unique formula soothes cuticles with Jojoba & Vitamin E

– The drops dramatically fast-forward drying time

– The perfect solution when you’re time poor (or have kids in tow!)

– You only use a small amount at a time so it lasts ages (worth every cent)

How To Use:

To prolong the wear of your polish, I recommend using a base coat prior to applying your chosen polish colour. Apply your desired coats of colour, allow a moment to dry slightly before applying your top coat, then leave your nails for 1 minute.

You’ll then apply 1-2 drops of OPI Drip Dry Drops to each individual nail and leave to dry. Your nails will be touch-dry after a minute, and fully dry after 5 minutes.

What’s Everyone Saying?

★★★★★ Can’t live without it! – Terri

“I genuinely do not know how I survived doing my nails for so long without this product! It is the easiest, simplest and most incredible liquid and I do not have a single bad thing to say about it! So easy to apply, doesn’t mess up all your hard work and gives you the ability to go on with your day in no time! Love love love.”

★★★★★ You CAN buy time!  Rebecca

“This product is perfect! It literally dries my polish faster and harder than time does! I am using OPI Nail Envy and put a coat on each night. The OPI Drip Dry works so well, I can put on a coat of polish, use Drip Dry and crawl straight into bed without a single smudge! Pretty wonderful!”

★★★★★ Great product!  Nail Diva

“Do yourself a favour and buy this product. I stumbled upon it by accident in NZ and was very doubtful, but I was very happy to be proved wrong. I’ve been using it for years and can’t do without it!”

★★★★★ I love this product  Anonymous

“Don’t know how I ever lived without it! The drops go on smoothly and easily and don’t cause any bumps or mess up your mani. Nails are pretty much ready to go after 5 minutes – it has made such a difference as I like to paint my nails often but hate the waiting! I’d tried all the supposed ‘quick drying’ top coats on the market without success – this is the first thing that does what it promises.”

An International Model’s Guide To Great Skin (And Hair)
Joanna Fleming

I’d be lying to myself if I said I wasn’t incredibly envious of the lives international models lead. Who wouldn’t want to make a living off their beauty, travelling to exotic places and meeting amazing people?

Alice Hayward started from humble beginnings – the Aussie born Adelaide girl turned NYC-based Wilhelmina model is just 23, and has worked for big name brands like ASOS, Lee Jeans, Spanx and Wacoal Lingerie.

And while I’m envious, I’ve always wondered how models can possibly maintain beautiful skin and hair despite constant travelling, wearing heavy makeup and having their hair regularly heat styled. So I asked Alice for some of her personal supermodel secrets…

“The most important lesson I’ve learnt in modelling, is the importance of taking care for myself both mentally and physically. I take good care of my body and put a lot of time and effort into it. I am extremely passionate about fitness and I work out 5-6 times a week. Sweating is my release and my ‘me time’.

And as for beauty, I’ve got a few go-to’s and I’m excited to share some of my favourites for healthy skin and hair with you!”

For Healthy Locks: Shu Uemura Ultimate Remedy

I started using Shu Uemura’s Ultimate Remedy shampoo and conditioner due to the damage caused by long-haul travelling and constant styling at work had on my hair (plus, I’m blonde).

I’d tried several other haircare ranges, but the condition of my hair just wasn’t improving. After only a few months of using Ultimate Remedy, my hair is feeling so much stronger, healthier and softer, with less breakage and my colour is lasting longer.

For My Face: Alpha-H Protection Plus Daily SPF50

It was only recently that I purchased Alpha-H Protection Plus Daily SPF50 and I have been obsessed ever since! I have generally always avoided face sunscreens purely because I dislike that usual greasy/oily texture that some products can leave on my skin.

However wow, this product is so great and light, perfect for my sensitive skin and gives me such a beautiful glow. It’s summer in the US at the moment, so I’m glad I’ve found the right product to protect my skin. I love that it’s slightly tinted and I can wear it under my foundation.

For Hydration: Hylamide Low-Molecular HA Booster

I go through Hylamide’s Low-Molecular HA Booster like there’s no tomorrow! Due to my job and the amount of makeup I wear for work, my skin easily becomes extremely dehydrated and dry. Although I drink litres of water a day to try and stay hydrated, it still wasn’t enough. This product leaves my skin feeling hydrated immediately after application. It’s a beautiful light texture and sinks into my skin super quick.

I apply the it morning and night and sometimes I do a few more extra applications more when I’m on long haul flights. I carry this product with me everywhere and I have even started taking it to set with me so the makeup artist can apply it prior to makeup. I have also noticed other benefits of the product – I find it keeps my makeup staying on all day when I’ve applied it underneath, so I guess I also use it as a primer!

For ‘No Makeup’ Makeup: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

I am extremely lucky to work with amazing hair and makeup artists every day, I learn so much from them and get to test out so many great products. Over the years I have worn hundreds of different foundations and I have finally found my favourite personal one! I like to wear minimal makeup when I’m off work but when I do I want it to feel and look natural and fresh.

The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser is everything! I have plenty of freckles on my face and I love to show them off – this product doesn’t hide them but still conceals my occasional spots and flaws. Importantly, the glow this moisturiser leaves on my skin is the best part, it’s natural and dewy, I can’t live without it!

For Smooth Skin: asap daily exfoliating facial scrub

Since I was a teenager, I used Cetaphil as my face wash – but since I’ve gotten older, and more conscious of good skincare, I have started to notice some clogged pores and small blackheads around my nose.

I purchased the asap daily exfoliating facial scrub while I was in Australia, and absolutely love the effect it has on my skin. It’s definitely gentle enough for every day use but I personally only use it 3-4 times a week to refresh my skin. It smooths and softens my skin without any irritation – love it.

Are You Applying Your Blush Wrong?
Vanessa Walsh

In 2017, blush has made a miraculous comeback, it has been a massive focus in Paris & London Fashion Week and has become more popular in the mainstream too. Everyone desires to have a natural glow and warmth to their face, and foundation can remove your natural colour or natural flush – this is why blush is so important. It’s also very complimentary to match your lip and cheek colour.

There are a few things to take into consideration when purchasing a blush and applying it. We recently spoke about how to choose the right shade for your skin tone and now we are here to find your perfect formula and tool.

Powder Blush

Powder blushes are typically the most popular formula, as they’re simple to use and suitable for most skin types. If you have oily skin, you will find powder has a better longevity and help keep your cheeks stay matte all day. However, if you suffer from dry and flaky skin this won’t be the best formula for you.

Powder can be applied on top of powder or liquid but for the most even coverage, I’d recommend applying a face powder underneath as sometimes powder can grab onto cream or liquid foundation and leave your blush looking patchy.

Powder blushes can either come pressed in a compact, or loose in a jar with an in-built sifter to help dispense a small amount of product. As powder blushes are dense, they will give you a rich pigment and have a strong staying power. Powder blushes come in a variety of finishes from matte to shimmer. Matte will be suitable for someone with more textured or oily skin, where shimmer will suit more of a normal or dry skin type.

My personal favourite brushes to use with powder blush, are the Sigma F37 Spotlight Duster Highlight Brush and the Nude by Nature Angled Blush Brush 06. Whilst the Sigma Spotlight Duster Highlight brush was specifically designed to use with highlighters, it’s still incredible for a light precise application for blush. The bristles are silky soft that it’s gentle on the skin and leaves more of a diffused finish. This is perfect to build the colour up on if you are heavy handed or your blusher is too pigmented.

The Nude by Nature Angled Blush Brush is a dense firm brush made from ultra soft synthetic fibres. As this brush is angled it makes it perfect to concentrate the colour and for contouring the cheek.

Cream Blush

Cream blushes look fantastic on mature skin or on drier skin, as they are emollient and often can have hydrating properties in them. Cream will give your cheeks more of a natural appearance with a luminous glow.If you apply too much, or your cream blusher is too pigmented you will find it’s very easy to sheer out the blusher. If you have oily skin and find that cream doesn’t have any staying power, just apply a light layer of translucent powder on top.

With cream blusher you have the luxury of using any kind of tool from your fingers to brushes. There are two particular brushes that I find the best work with cream blusher. The first one is the Sigma F15 – Duo Fibre Powder/Blush Brush which is made from their patient technology called SigmeTech Fibres, a synthetic advancement on animal hair. This brush is quite versatile as it can be used with liquid, cream, powder or gel products and has a mixture of long and short hair, which helps apply and blend the product at the same time. For the best application, just swirl the brush into your cream blusher and stipple the brush onto your cheeks.

The other is Real Techniques Bold Metals 300 Tapered Blush Brush is designed to glide and sculpt the cheeks beautifully. This is a very luxurious feeling brush with the long metal handle is designed for optimal control and the weight is perfectly distributed to ensure the most precise application.

Liquid Blush

Liquid will give you a natural flush appearance and generally is rich in colour with more of a sheer finish. Benefit Benetint is better for oily skin, as some liquid tints can dry quickly and have a matte finish. The Becca Beach Tint is more suitable for drier skin types or dehydrated skin as it has a slight slick to it due to the silicone base. Liquid blushers can have a duo use, and be applied to your lips which

Liquid blushers can have a duo use, and be applied to your lips which looks very complimentary. For best results, apply after liquid foundation or moisturiser and start instantly blending the product out.

As liquid blusher can be highly pigmented, apply a small amount at a time and then keep adding until you’re happy with the results. If you apply too much, you can just apply a little bit of foundation onto to dilute the colour. If you have quite textured skin, I wouldn’t choose liquid and would recommend a cream or powder blush.

The Elf Blush Brush has a smaller brush head, which means it’s perfect to lightly apply your liquid blush to the apply of your cheeks and allows more of a defined look. As the brush bristles are soft, it will only apply a small amount of product. This brush can be used with either wet or dry products.

The Pur Cosmetics – Precision Blush Brush comes in a 5 piece brush set. This brush will pick up the perfect amount of colour to ensure a seamless application, and because of the angle it will also contour your cheek bone. The shape of the brush will help you deposit an even amount of product.

How To: Choose The Perfect Brow Shade
Vanessa Walsh

A well groomed brow can will help to enhance your features, and choosing the correct shade is an important factor. Do you ever look back at old photos and cringe at your brows? I know I definitely do. If you are on your journey to the perfect brow, here are some tips to help!

Top Tip: Try not to do match your eyebrows with your hair colour, as you will look too monochromatic (with an exception). It’s safer for light hair to go for a shade one or two darker and one or two shades lighter if you have dark hair. Don’t forget it’s very complimentary to your hairs undertone.

As Blondes have softer features, you want to go for a colour and product that won’t make you look too harsh. You will want to just fill any sparse areas, and not go too crazy with the product. Shades that would compliment you are ash blonde tones and light taupe shades.

Benefit Ka-Brow! has a rich buildable colour, it’s simple to use and can easily fill in any spaces. It comes with a built in angled brush, which is perfect for travel and allows a precise application.  It’s a cream gel product that lasts up to 24 hours and is water resistant. Shade 1 is the lightest colour in the Benefit brow collection, which means it’s perfect for anyone with Platinum, Light Blonde, or Grey hair.

Auburn haired people brows are either lighter or darker than their natural hair. I’ve seen Auburn haired clients with light brown brows, red brows and blonde brows! For Auburn or Red Heads, you want something that will compliment the red in your hair. Go for shades like Ash Blonde, Caramel or Auburn.

For an easy to use product I’d suggest the Nouba Waterproof Brow Powder. This product has a tapered sponge tip, with is perfect to touch up any sparse areas in your brows, without looking like they’re too filled in. It’s a simple and easy to use product that adds volume to your brows.

Brunettes generally have quite dark brows, therefore their brows more pronounced and prominent. You will only need to go for a shade or two lighter than your natural hair colour. I’d suggest only filling in the areas that require a touch of colour, and focus most of the product towards the tail of the brow. You will also want to avoid getting a scouse brow. Go for either chestnut or ash brown.

Here is the exception! If you have black hair you can most defiantly use a black pencil. Just lightly fill it in and it won’t look too drawn on. Otherwise, if you don’t want to match go for a chocolate or dark brown.

Garbo & Kelly’s Retractable Brow Perfection Pencil is perfect to create a natural brow. It has a very fine tip with is perfect for a more precise application and comes with a spoolie brush to groom your brow hairs with. Try shade warm brown or sable from this range.

Final Tip: Gel brows are fantastic at taming unruly brows, and also helps your brow products stay in place. There are tinted brow gels that are perfect for someone with stray grey hairs or if you have very fair hair.

An Expert Guide To Getting Rid Of Stubborn Blackheads
Sally O'Kelly

There’s something about blackheads that makes them incredibly annoying. Even if my breakout has been calmed, I’m still left with stubborn blackheads that just won’t go away.

The key to getting rid of them is to keep skin clean using gentle but effective cleansers and to use a couple treatments to speed up the process. Whatever you do, don’t pop them or pick them, in fact just don’t touch them!

This Is What Hyaluronic Acid Does…
Joanna Fleming

Hyaluronic Acid isn’t a new concept in skincare, although you may have only just started hearing about it. In fact, HA is a naturally-occurring substance found in our bodies already, but when it’s scientifically formulated into skincare for topical use, Hyaluronic Acid is the ultimate anti-ageing, skin hydrating booster.

Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid:

  • Its moisture-binding properties attract and store moisture in the skin
  • HA restores plumpness and hydration, which diminishes during the ageing process
  • Leaves skin soft, smooth and hydrated, making the skin look more radiant
  • Improves the appearance of fine lines by plumping the skin
  • Hydrates and calms even redness-prone and congested skin types

Can I use it?

The best thing about this ingredient? It’s suitable to use even on oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin. It’s lightweight formulation absorbs immediately, nourishing the skin as soon as it’s applied.

Our Makeup Artist Swears By This Technique For Flawless Skin!
Joanna Fleming

Can’t seem to get that flawless finish with your full coverage foundation? Our resident makeup artist, Vanessa shares her latest technique to guarantee the exact look you’re after…

Step One

Prep the skin with moisturiser and primer. It’s so important to have a good base for your foundation to adhere to. I often use Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Moisturiser (shop here), and BECCA Backlight Priming Filter (shop here). Use a really dense foundation brush like Sigma Beauty F80- Flat Kabuki (shop here), blending the products into the skin in a circular motion. Make sure you cover your whole face evenly.

Step Two

With a slight damp blending sponge, lightly press the foundation into the skin – don’t use too much pressure, as we don’t want the foundation to lift. I use ModelCo Magic Blender Sponge (shop here), and for a full coverage look, I’d suggest a foundation like Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup (shop here), or BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème Foundation (shop here).

Step Three

Using a large powder brush like Sigma F20 (shop here), apply translucent powder to the T-Zone using a ‘roll and press’ motion. I am currently using Kryolan Translucent Powder (shop here). With a small fluffy brush like Sigma E40 – Tapered Blending (shop here), apply the powder under the eyes.

Step Four

This is the key step! With your damp blending sponge, use gentle dabbing motions to lightly press into the areas you’ve just placed your translucent powder. Then give your skin a generous spritz with Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray (shop here) to hold your foundation in place all day!
