Ever Tried An Armpit Mask?

Let me tell you, the beauty industry is the gift that just keeps on giving. I'll never get sick of the new innovations this industry comes up with, no matter how ridiculous they seem. We've got masks for our faces, our butts and now our armpits.

At this point, you might be wondering why you'd need a mask for your armpits, and that's a very valid thought. My question to you is, have you ever tried to switch to a natural deodorant? If not, you might wanna arm yourself with Lavanila's The Healthy Underarm Detox Mask.

Switching To A Natural Deodorant:

This mask isn't just designed for people switching over to a natural deodorant, but we'll cover off what else it does later. First, let's address the switch to natural. We've talked about this on our podcast before, but ICYMI, here's the rundown:

Firstly, a natural deodorant doesn't inhibit sweating like an antiperspirant. It's simply designed to neutralise odour, so you should still expect to sweat; which, by the way, is a totally normal bodily function that plays a vital role in controlling body temperature and excreting unwanted minerals and waste products.

Secondly, your body may need up to 4 weeks to adjust to a natural deodorant. There will be a bit of a smelly phase, I warn you now. When you discontinue use of chemical (or aluminium-based) deodorant/antiperspirant and allow your body to sweat, your body goes through the process of sweating out a build-up of... sh*t, basically.

But that's where Lavanila's The Healthy Underarm Detox Mask comes in. I've done this transition period before. It ain't easy. And I stupidly went back to regular deodorant out of convenience, and am planning to use my time in isolation to recommit, with the help of the armpit mask.

What Else Does This Armpit Mask Do?

Apart from making it easier (and not as smelly) to transition to a natural deodorant, this formula can help to remove a build-up of bacteria, dead skin cells, sweat and antiperspirant products from under the arms, revealing fresher and smoother skin, and reducing bad body odour.

This mask can also help to improve the appearance of discolouration around the armpit as well, and reduce the occurrence of lumps and bumps in the area.

I personally noticed after I'd had laser hair removal under my arms that my body odour became more noticeable. I put this down to the fact that I wasn't shaving under my arms anymore and removing that top layer of skin and hair, so I started using an exfoliating mitt (whenever I could remember) to clear away that build-up and reduce pong-causing bacteria.

While I'll probably still continue to do that, I'm also adding in Lavanila's The Healthy Underarm Detox Mask to my weekly routine.

What's In It?

  • Activated charcoal & kaolin clay deeply exfoliate, purify and work to brighten the area of skin

  • Malid Acid (derived from green apples) uniquely binds to impurities to help draw them out

  • Silica helps to absorb sweat molecules while nourishing the skin

The formula also contains antioxidant Vitamin E, olive fruit oil and vanilla fruit oil, which can help to support healing and barrier function, as well as calm and soothe the skin to reduce irritation that can be associated with switching deodorants.

How Do I Apply It?

This tube of goodness features a built-in brush applicator which makes layering this mask under the arms simple and completely mess-free. You just apply an even layer to clean, dry underarms and leave on for 5 minutes (preferably leaving the area exposed with your arm up) before rinsing off.

It's recommended if you're switching to a natural deodorant, to use this mask 3 times a week during the transition period; or if you're just using it as a detox and brightening mask, you can use it 1-2 times a week. You can watch a demo of me applying it below:
