I think we can all agree, Korea is the undisputed home of really bloody good skin.

Known for delivering skin so glassy, you can practically see through it - with the help of a casual 10-step skincare routine - it's not surprising us sun-damaged Aussies are obsessed with K-beauty.

Which brings me to the number one aesthetic skincare brand in Korea and the newest K-beauty brand to launch on Adore, AHC.

From youth emulsions and essences to sheet masks made from 24k gold foil (yes, really), the AHC range is full of bougie-sounding skincare products. But the one that piqued my interested the most was the AHC Perfecting Eye Cream for Face.

Why? Because one of these chic mirrored tubes sells every three seconds in Korea. And also, what the heck is an eye cream for your face anyway?

What Is the AHC Eye Cream for Face?

One of these silver, space age-looking tubes sells every three seconds in Korea, but what actually is an eye cream for your face?

Well, it's... a moisturiser. But not just any moisturiser. A very famous one.

The story behind the AHC Perfecting Eye Cream For Face 40ml is pretty simple. Back in the late 90s in Seoul, a Korean actress reportedly returned from a post-divorce spa trip with the skin of an infant. Figuratively speaking. When asked for her secret, she said she'd been using an AHC eye cream all over her face as a moisturiser.

(Shedding the emotional baggage from a failed relationship might've played a role, too, but let's go with it, shall we?)

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a hold of said actress to corroborate her story, but I get where she was going with it. Because the skin around our eyes is thinner and more prone to dehydration than the rest of our face (because there aren't any oil glands under our eyes), eye creams are formulated with nutrient-rich ingredients to assist in collagen and elastin production for plumper skin and the reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

So, AHC decided to put all of those hardworking eye cream ingredients into a formula that can be used on the entire face for more radiant-looking skin, without clogging your pores or breaking you out. In other words, the AHC Perfecting Eye Cream For Face 40ml is a face moisturiser that's as potent as an eye cream.

Ironically, this moisturiser hailing from the country known for elaborate skincare routines is designed to be an all-in-one anti-ageing treatment that can replace your existing eye cream and moisturiser.

AHC Eye Cream for Face Ingredients.

OK cool, but what's actually in this fancy eye cream for your face?

  • AHC’s exclusive VITAMIDE Complex - A delivery method that combines active ingredients like vitamins and peptides with microsome technology that allows the ingredients to fully absorb into the skin.

  • Peptides - Peptides help our skin cells to communicate better with each other, letting your body know broken down collagen (a building block of skin) needs to be replaced. This moisturiser contains 12 peptides that help the skin to regenerate itself = bouncier, more resilient skin.

  • AHC Eye Cream for Face also contains seven patented vegetable proteins that help to firm the skin.

My AHC Eye Cream for Face Review.

So, what does this eye cream for your face feel like? A very lovely moisturiser.

If you enjoy gel moisturisers, you'll love the texture of this one. Despite containing hydrating ingredients, I found the consistency to be super light, easily absorbed and cooling on the skin. A little goes a long way, too, and it won't leave your face feeling greasy or sticky.

This product would layer brilliantly under makeup on normal, oily and combo skin because it has that lovely fresh texture of a water-based gel cream, but with the hydration of a moisturiser to prep the skin for your base. It's also great for travel because there's no need to pack a separate eye cream, day moisturiser and night moisturiser. Win.

Because my skin is perpetually thirsty (i.e. dry), I've found I need to apply two layers of the moisturiser to give me that promised bouncy, supple feeling. BUT I'm loving it even more slathered on thick as a night time hydrating mask if I'm going to be applying a full face of makeup the next day, or gently patted under and around the eye as a hydrating eye cream.

Side note: Like with a lot of heritage brand products, this moisturiser has a nostalgic floral scent that reminds me of playing with my nan's beauty products as a kid. The fragrance isn't overpowering, but it might be if fragrances trigger your skin sensitivity.

So, will this K-beauty eye cream for your face make you look like a cherub with glass skin? Not on its own.

What it will do, though, is deeply hydrate your skin, which in turn can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that may or may not have been caused by your failed relationships.

I reckon that Korean actress was onto something.
