This Serum Faded the Look of My Dark Spots in 2 Weeks & I Have the Photos to Prove It

Here's the thing. I have good news and bad news for you.

The bad news is that regardless of your skin type and skin tone, as you age, you will most likely develop some kind of skin discolouration.

I'm talking dark spots, acne scarring and hyperpigmentation.

This can be due to extended exposure to the sun's UV rays, acne breakouts or picking at pimples, a hormonal imbalance, and even pregnancy.

I have acne-prone skin due to a hormonal imbalance.

The most frustrating part of having acne breakouts is not so much the pimples themselves, which usually last a couple of days with the right skin care, but the acne scar or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation mark they leave behind.

These dark spots usually take months to fade! And if you have brown skin like me, it can take up to six to eight months to fade completely.

So, when I heard about the new Murad dark spot serum that claims to reduce the look of dark spots in 14 days, I knew I had to give it a go.

What Is the Murad Dark Spot Serum?

Searching for which serum is best for dark spots? This might be it.

Murad Rapid Dark Spot Correcting Serum is an intensive at-home treatment that claims to reduce the look of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

During a trial, 84% of people reported a reduction in the look of dark spots after 14 short days of use.

Unlike other hyperpigmentation at-home serums on the market, this Murad dark spot serum does not contain hydroquinone, which is a skin bleaching agent.

Instead, the formula blends modern powerhouse brightening ingredients to tackle the most stubborn of dark spots, while still treating your skin with the same care a dermatologist would.

Ingredients For Fading Dark Spots.

OK, so what's actually in this dark spot serum?

1. Patented Resorcinol Technology:

  • Resorcinol is an ingredient that has proven to be highly efficacious at reducing the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation.

  • It's especially great for people with richer and deeper skin tones who suffer from post-acne hyperpigmentation, as it significantly reduces the intensity of stubborn dark spots without bleaching the skin.

2. Tranexamic Acid:

  • Also known as TXA, this acid will not exfoliate the skin like your AHAs and BHA (alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids).

  • Tranexamic acid is a powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient that works to fade discolouration and acne scarring by stopping the over-production of melanin caused by inflammation.

3. Glycolic Acid:

  • Unless you've been living under a rock without wifi connection, you've likely heard of this VERY sought-after exfoliating ingredient.

  • Glycolic acid is an AHA that gently lifts away dead skin cells to improve product absorption.

  • It will also even out your skin tone and improve your skin texture. Hello baby-smooth skin and glow.

My Murad Rapid Dark Spot Correcting Serum Review.

Murad Rapid Dark Spot Correcting Serum Review Murad Rapid Dark Spot Correcting Serum Review

The first thing I noticed about this dark spot serum was its liquid gel consistency.

It is clear, not too runny and not too thick.

The product has a light citrusy scent, which I didn't mind, but you might find it overpowering if you prefer fragrance-free skin care.

After cleansing my face, I squirted two pumps of this serum on my fingertips.

I applied the serum to my face, neck and décolletage, paying extra attention to the areas most affected by hyperpigmentation.

Once applied, I noticed the serum dried down a little sticky to the touch. Thankfully, the stickiness went away once I applied my moisturiser.

When it comes to the packaging, I love that the bottle has an airtight pump and opaque canister.

This keeps light and air from disturbing the formula, meaning the active ingredients will stay potent for longer.

Dark Spot Serum Before & After Results.

I have used my fair share of dark spot correcting products and none of them have ever really swept me off my feet. I was intrigued and sceptical (yet hopeful) about trying the Murad Rapid Dark Spot Correcting Serum.

Here's a look at my skin before using the serum, and 14 days after using the product day and night.

Not only was this serum fading the look of my dark spots effectively within the first two weeks, but I was also so pleased to feel the improvement in my skin texture.

My skin was so soft and smooth to the touch, and was visibly more radiant and even.

I saw the most improvement in my areas of concern around the cheeks and chin.

Final Verdict...

Now, here's to the good news!

Even if your skin is affected by dark spots and hyperpigmentation at some stage in your life, you can fade their appearance with the right skin care and treatments.

Murad Rapid Dark Spot Correcting Serum has blown my socks off!

Although the product name says 'rapid', it's important to know there's no way to 'get rid of' dark spots fast.

This serum isn't an overnight miracle in a bottle product, but I did see a difference within the first 14 days of consistent use, as promised.

And a bonus for my melanin queens, it's brown-skin friendly and will not bleach your skin.

If melasma, dark spots or hyperpigmentation are skin concerns of yours, give this dark spot serum a go and thank me later.
