I Tried KORA's Retinol Alternative Moisturiser for Naturally Firmer, Tighter Skin

In partnership with Kora Organics.

Having been a teen of the ‘90s, I fondly remember the days of Miranda Kerr and Dolly Magazine (I know definitely showing my age, but that’s ok)! and have watched with interest her career progression from supermodel to successful entrepreneur as the founder and creator of skincare brand KORA Organics.

The KORA Organics Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask is one of the most-spoken about products in the AB office (as is the glowy KORA glowy turmeric moisturiser that looks incredible under makeup).

Now they have launched a new anti-ageing, firming and plumping moisturiser centred around ‘bakuchiol’ - an up-and-coming plant ingredient in the world of retinol alternatives.

As I recently hit my mid 40s, my skincare regimen has become more and more important to try and maintain glow, hydration and even out my skin tone.

I suffer from pigmentation and over the last few years, have really started to notice the lack of moisture in my skin.

So I was super keen to try the new Kora Organics Plant Stem Cell Retinol Alternative Moisturiser to try and keep those pesky signs of ageing at bay while hydrating my skin without the fear of irritation.

Paired with their Plant Stem Cell Retinol Alternative Serum, here’s how I found them both for my mature skin…

What Is the Kora Organics Plant Stem Cell Retinol Alternative Moisturizer?

Powered by a 5% active blend of plant-based retinol alternatives (bakuchiol and alfalfa), this ultra-nourishing moisturiser gently targets fine lines and wrinkles while supporting the skin with a boost of antioxidant-rich acai plant stem cells and a natural peptide and ceramide blend for healthier, firmer, glowing skin without irritation.

Retinol alternatives are great for people who are pregnant or can experience irritations from cosmeceutical-grade products.

So, what is bakuchiol?

Bakuchiol is an extract derived from the leaves and seeds of the babchi plant.

The plant alternative to retinol has long been used in ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine and is known for hydrating the skin as well as firming, strengthening and improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

By promoting cell turnover and healthy cell regeneration, bakuchiol may help soothe and heal your skin from the inside out.

It’s gentle enough to be used twice a day, whereas retinoids are typically used every 2-3 days.

I was in awe after opening the packaging; how beautiful the jar was and was also impressed that it is refillable.

I love a really thick moisturiser and given how dry I am finding my skin at the moment, I find these types of rich moisturisers really hydrating and this one didn't disappoint!

You only need a small amount to warm up in your hands before applying.

It has a really subtle scent that's not overpowering at all and when applied to my skin, felt very luxe and hydrating.

My skin lapped up the dose of hydration and I didn't feel any excess oiliness on my skin.

It gave my skin a lovely glow and also sat really well under my SPF and makeup too.

For over two weeks, I used this as my day and night time moisturiser and noticed that my skin didn't feel as dry as it had been (thanks Melbourne weather!).

Win!

This was a lovely serum to incorporate into my morning and nightime routine.

I was impressed that I could add a retinol product into my morning routine to really tackle my skincare concerns (of course, always follow up with your SPF).

Again with this product a little goes a long way. I did find the dropper a little tricky given the thickness of the serum (a tiny flaw).

This sat well amongst my skincare routine (I use vitamin C and hyaluronic acid serums day and night) and complemented with the moisturiser, really made my skin feel soft and hydrated.

Final Verdict...

The Kora Organics Plant Stem Cell Retinol Alternative moisturizer and serum are a great way to introduce age management products into your routine!

Given the organic nature of the products and being able to use them twice daily, this is a great alternative for those with sensitive skin or those looking to introduce retinol based products into their daily routine.

For me, this range was most beneficial for combating my dry skin.

I also liked the fact that I was combating some of my concerns on a daily basis and have incorporated these products as alternatives to my daily routine to continue to target my skincare concerns.

A beautiful range, thanks Miranda!
