The Difference Between These Cult IT Cosmetics 'Your Skin But Better' CC Cream Foundations

Ask any beauty editor worth their weight in mascara and they’ll tell you, the IT Cosmetics CC Cream is a cult product for a reason.

Many reasons, actually.

The full coverage, colour correcting foundation/CC cream hybrid with SPF50+ delivers on its promise - to make your skin look like your skin, but better. Plus, it's always sold out because it's that darn popular.

Then, the brand went and launched a new foundation in early 2021 that says it can give you the ‘your skin but better’ glow, without the thicker full coverage finish.

But is it any good and how does it compare to the original CC cream? And would I be better off choosing either the original CC cream, or the matte or illuminating versions?

They also all contain *sunscreen (but it's not enough, you should still wear a primary sunscreen underneath for adequate protection) and are suitable for even those with sensitive or sensitised skin.

• Medium to full coverage with a completely matte finish.

• Formulated specifically for those with combination and oily skin prone to shine and oil production throughout the day.

• Feels like nothing on the skin.

• Compared to the other formulas, this one contains skincare ingredients tea tree, charcoal, collagen, peptides and antioxidants, and *SPF 40+ UVA/UVB physical sunscreen.

What About the IT Cosmetics Foundation?

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation is the newest foundation to the Your Skin But Better range.

Compared to the thicker CC cream texture, this is a lightweight, water-like liquid foundation that's easy to apply with a flat stippling foundation brush.

Considering how full coverage the original CC cream is, I was expecting the new Your Skin But Better foundation to be sheerer. It's definitely still a medium to full coverage foundation, but nowhere near as thick or zincy as the CC cream.

It's also formulated with skincare ingredients like hepes acid, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, vitamin E and vitamin B5 (panthenol) to help improve skin over time.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation Review.

Here's a before and after of my skin without makeup, and with just the foundation on in the shade 22 Light Neutral.

The result? Smooth, airbrushed skin that really did look like my skin, but better.

I liked how the foundation still let my freckles shine through, but I was seriously impressed by how well the product photographed. It diffuses light really beautifully, so this would be an excellent wedding or special event foundation.

If you prefer a more full coverage foundation that feels like a sheer product, this could be your new everyday base for a natural but still 'done' makeup look.

Oily, normal and combo skin types won't have any trouble, but for anyone with perpetually thirsty skin like mine, prep the skin with a hydrating primer or a thick moisturiser to keep everything nice and plump.

As you can see in this photo below, the biggest differences are how they feel on the skin and the level of coverage they offer (the CC cream is much thicker and fuller coverage). These are 100 per cent different shades, in case you were wondering.
