I’m certainly a major advocate of beauty sleep – I need my 8 hours every night, or I feel like I pay for the lack of sleep for days afterwards. Knowing how much I rely on my sleep, I wanted to find out from some of our favourite lifestyle influencers what their beauty sleep hacks were.

Eating well during the day is so important. If I don’t eat well during a day I never sleep well and my skin always breaks out. I try to avoid processed foods and foods high in refined sugar and eat a majority of whole foods (fresh fruit and veg), meat, yoghurt, nuts etc. I never deprive myself of the foods I love- I just make healthy substitutions to make traditional ‘naughty’ food healthy. You can find our healthy, simple recipes at keepitcleaner.com.au.
Get active everyday. This will not only help you sleep better but will also mean you wake up with so much more energy, and your body and skin will love you for it. Just make sure you always wash your face straight after a workout and never workout with makeup on. Staying hydrated by drinking enough water everyday is essential for healthy, glowing skin.
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief is my favourite moisturiser ever. I put this on before bed every night to hydrate my skin overnight. I always wake up with soft and glowing skin after using this the night before!

I find candles are the best beauty sleep hack for me. I realised the reason I always feel so calm and sleepy at day spas is because of the smell. So after a bit of trial and error, I found the most amazing candles that are now always next to my bed. The smell alone makes me feel calm without even having them lit. My go-to is Lumira’s Glass Candle in Balinese Ylang Ylang.
Lip balm is the last thing I put on before my head hits my silk pillow case (which is another one of my beauty hacks). My silk pillowcase has helped my hair feel softer and keeps my blow dry in tact; it also has helped my face feel amazing and not creased when I wake. But back to lip balm – Lanolips 101 Ointment has helped my lips stay hydrated, especially when I went to NYC, freezing temperatures and no cracked lips in sight!
I find if I haven’t drank enough water during the day, my sleep is very broken. So as much as this isn’t a beauty hack whilst sleeping, staying hydrated throughout the day helps you get a good nights sleep.

There is truth behind the term ‘beauty sleep’. This is because when you sleep, your body is hard at work creating growth hormones, which play an important role in cell regeneration and repair, and maintenance of good health. A lack of sleep can reduce your body’s production of important health-promoting hormones as well as antioxidant activity, contributing to premature ageing of the skin and body. I recommend trying out my SLEEP Inner Beauty Powder, designed to relieve stress and nervous tension, as well as soothe your senses for a satisfying slumber.
In terms of skin care I try to keep it simple, nutrient-dense and fresh! Night is when all the good stuff happens and the skin can truly rejuvenate without the interruption of environmental assault. Cleansing is essential to wash away the day’s grease and grime. I personally use coconut oil and a muslin cloth to cleanse my face, as I find the oil is really effective for lifting dirt and debris from the skin (plus coconut oil has antibacterial properties!).
After I’ve cleansed, I dab a little Probiotic Skin Refiner onto a cotton pad and swipe it over my face to gently refine my skin. I then apply a few drops of the Dream Repair Serum and massage it into my face (lightly over my oily T-zone, however), neck and décolletage. This product is brilliant for rejuvenating the skin, and infusing both protective antioxidants and nourishing essential fatty acids into the skin. I love the light texture of this beautiful oil-based serum as it sinks right in and doesn’t end up on my pillow!
