Don't Like Face Oils? Same, But The Alpha-H Golden Haze Face Oil Changed My Mind

I hate to break it to everyone, but face oils can’t replace a moisturiser.

They are a nice addition to skincare routines though, and shouldn’t be dismissed.

But I don't usually like using face oils on their own, and I find my clients who use face oils instead of moisturiser may not be properly hydrating their skin.

If you usually hate the oily, greasy or heavy feeling of a face oil, same.

But recently, I’ve been all about the Alpha-H Golden Haze Face Oil 25ml - like, non-stop.

I’m pretty much using the Alpha-H oil every night on my combination skin at the moment because I’ve fallen in love with it so much.

So, let’s go through all the key features and ingredients in the new Alpha-H Golden Haze Face Oil.

I'll also share my Alpha-H face oil review. But first...

The Difference Between Face Oil & Moisturiser.

As a dermal therapist, you know I'll never miss an opportunity to squeeze in a bit of extra skincare education.

For anyone confused about face oil vs moisturiser, our skin needs hydration in two different ways:

Applying water-binding products to the skin (think hyaluronic acid and glycerin) and moisturisation from emollient ingredients in your routine to prevent dryness.

That’s why if you are using a face oil alone and your skin is still feeling dry, you probably need to use a moisturiser too.

Many oils are nutrient-rich and can benefit the skin in a variety of ways, including strengthening the barrier, smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reducing dryness by trapping moisture into the skin.

They can help your skin feel smoother and plumper. And that glow!

Learn more about how face oils work in this YouTube video below.

However, most face oils don't contain humectant or water-loving ingredients.

This matters because hydration and moisturisation are two different things.

A moisturiser is more likely to contain both hydrating and moisturising ingredients, which is why I generally prefer them for myself and my clients.

Making sense?

What Is the Alpha-H Face Oil?

If you are already a fan of face oils or think you might be in the market to try a new one for yourself, get ready to add to cart.

Alpha-H Golden Haze Face Oil 25ml is a super luxe oil that's lightweight, non-sticky and fast-absorbing.

Golden Haze is packed with nine nutrient-rich botanical oils, including Australian Jojoba, squalane, camelia seed, watermelon seed and more.

It is also rich in antioxidants, which help protect against free radical damage and premature ageing.

Here's what the Alpha-H face oil does:

  • Softens and plumps the skin.

  • Locks in hydration and prevents dehydration.

  • Supports and protects the skin’s natural barrier.

  • Keeps the skin feeling supple and strong.

  • Calms and soothes, and replenishes essential lipids.

My Alpha H Golden Haze Review.

As I mentioned, I'm not usually into face oils.

This winter has been never-ending, and as my skin is prone to dehydration, I've recently needed a little extra oomph in my routine.

This oil has provided just that.

The Alpha-H face oil will support your barrier and prevent further dehydration, especially while we wait for the warmer weather to finally make its appearance.

I wouldn't use this in the AM, but I personally love how it feels incredibly nourishing to use at night before bed.

My skin feels plump, healthy and extra calm in the morning when I wake up.

Plus, it very easily combines with all the other actives I like to rotate in my skincare routine.

Here's what it looks like after being applied to the skin.

You can see it's not extremely lightweight, but I think that's a good thing because I want it to make my skin look like a glowy glazed doughnut before bed.

How to Use a Face Oil.

Finally, how do you use a face oil?

And do you apply face oil before or after moisturiser?

I prefer them as the last step over your moisturiser and hydrating serum, kind of like an occlusive barrier to lock everything in at night.

But if you’re feeling extra dry or dehydrated, you could do it in the morning too.

Some people like to mix their face oil with a moisturiser, or even a drop into foundation to help prevent it clinging to dry bits.

And while yes, you can technically have oily and/or acne-prone skin and use face oils… personally, I do think these skin types should tread with caution.

There are different face oils that can suit different skin types, but it's always best to get the advice of a dermal therapist for your own skin if you’re unsure.

Final Verdict on the Alpha-H Face Oil...

I’m not a huge oil skincare gal, but this one is special.

The sleek packaging and golden hue are stunning, and it's also fragrance-free, which means many skins will love it.

If you are feeling like your skin could do with an extra boost, this one's for you.

It might even change your mind about face oils.
