    Alpha-H Vitamin Serums

Alpha-H's vitamin serums are concentrated treatments that each focus on a different ingredient, so choosing between them comes down to what you want from your routine. Vitamin C is an antioxidant-focused serum, Vitamin B is built around niacinamide, Vitamin E is aimed at hydration and skin barrier support, and Vitamin A is an overnight retinol serum. All four are listed for skin types from dry through to oily, and they sit within Alpha-H's wider Serums & Treatments range, which also covers exfoliating acids, hydration serums and blemish treatments. If you are new to active ingredients, it helps to add one serum at a time so it is easier to tell how your skin responds.

    Alpha-H Vitamin C, B and E Serums

The Vitamin C Serum with 10% Ethyl Ascorbic Acid combines antioxidants and hyaluronic acid to help improve the appearance of skin tone and texture and the visible signs of ageing. It is designed to be applied to freshly cleansed skin each morning and left to absorb before your other products. The Vitamin B Serum with 5% Niacinamide is enriched with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to hydrate, support the skin barrier and even out the look of tone and texture, and it is also used in the morning, before your daily moisturiser. The Vitamin E Serum with 1% Ceramide Complex is formulated to boost hydration and support the skin's barrier repair, and to help reduce the look and feel of dry, flaky skin. It can be used morning and evening, with a minute or so to absorb before sunscreen or a night cream.

Alpha-H Vitamin A Serum with Retinol

The Vitamin A Serum with 0.3% Retinol + 1% Bio-Retinol is an overnight retinol serum designed to help smooth texture, soften the look of fine lines and reveal a more youthful-looking complexion. Retinol is a more active ingredient than the other three serums, so it is worth introducing gradually, starting with a couple of nights a week and building up as your skin adjusts. It is generally recommended to use retinol on nights when you are not using Liquid Gold from the Liquid Gold range, and to wear sun protection every morning, since retinol can leave skin more sensitive to UV exposure. A moisturiser afterwards can help keep skin comfortable. As with any active-ingredient routine, patch test first if your skin is sensitive.

Which Alpha-H vitamin serum should I choose?

All four are listed for skin types from dry through to oily, so the choice comes down to the result you want: Vitamin C for antioxidant support, Vitamin B for niacinamide, Vitamin E for hydration and skin barrier support, and Vitamin A for overnight retinol.

Which Alpha-H serums are for morning and which are for night?

The Vitamin C and Vitamin B serums are designed for morning use, the Vitamin E serum can be used morning and evening, and the Vitamin A serum is an overnight product.

How do I start using the Alpha-H Vitamin A Serum?

Introduce it gradually, starting with a couple of nights a week, and use it on nights you are not using Liquid Gold. Wear sun protection every morning, and follow the directions on the pack for how much to apply.

Be careful if you have rosacea-prone sensitive skin!

I absolutely love the Alpha-H vitamin e serum, so really wanted to love this one too. Unfortunately this vitamin C serum - DID NOT work for my skin at all. I have rosacea prone, slightly sensitive skin and after using this serum, I developed contact dermatitis around my eye and cheek area, which required a GP visit and prescription steroid cream to settle. Sharing my experience as a reminder for others with sensitive skin to patch test and choose vitamin c products carefully!
