WHAT IS SKIN RESURFACING?

Skin resurfacing is using a variety of ingredients or professional equipment to change the surface of the skin this includes texture, tone and appearance.

WHICH SKIN TYPE WILL BENEFIT FROM ALPHA-H SKIN RESURFACING?

Resurfacing is amazing for any skin type other than a true, sensitive complexion. Resurfacing can regulate oil flow, plump up fine lines and wrinkles, reduce pigmentation from sun damage, reduce visibility of post inflammatory pigmentation (scarring) giving a more uniform look to the skin, re-texturise thick leathery skin and overall smoothness.

WHAT ARE THE BEST ALPHA-H PRODUCTS FOR SKIN RESURFACING?

The Alpha-H Liquid Gold range is brimming with skin resurfacing ingredients. Treatments like Alpha-H Instant Facial and Alpha-H Liquid Gold Smoothing and Perfecting Mask are good starting points, while Alpha-H Liquid Gold is a well-loved serum. For moisturisers, choose Alpha-H Liquid Gold Perfecting Daywear or Alpha-H Age Delay Intensive Eye & Lip Treatment Cream. All of these products contain agents which will improve your complexion’s condition, adding softness, vitality and even tone.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO SKIN RESURFACING?

To achieve results, continuity is the key, which is why resurfacing products are usually recommended to be used daily. The agents are usually found in cleansers and moisturisers; if in a serum form (usually stronger and higher percentages of active ingredients) it’s often better used in the evening to avoid becoming sensitive to the sun. A product with skin resurfacing agents may be used every second day for a couple weeks, or may be able to use nightly straight away.

ALPHA-H SKIN RESURFACING: HOW TO USE AND WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Avoid using resurfacing products if your skin is sensitive (easily reacts to products ie; itching, blotchiness, uncomfort)
  • Don’t utilise salicylic acid (a common resurfacing ingredient) if allergic to aspirin, pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Stay away from resurfacing products if you have been prescribed medical strength vitamin A or have recently had a course of vitamin A
  • It is common to feel what we call “stingling”(a mix between stinging and tingling) and even some redness, especially when first introduced to resurfacing agents, as they can be quite strong
  • It is also common in some people to experience some slight shedding of the skin. If so, it is not extensive and it is usually around the upper cheeks or around the nose where the skin is thinnest
