Say Hello to Therabody and Their Award-Winning Skincare Devices
I am the Content Manager here at Adore Beauty. I have been a makeup artist for over 6 years now and love all things beauty.
If there’s one thing I absolutely LOVE about getting a professional treatment done in-clinic, it’s the little portion at the end when I get to marinate under the LED light.
Knowing how relaxing this is, I have been getting serious FOMO seeing people using at-home LED devices from the comfort of their bed/couch.
On top of this, I am a makeup artist and find that foundation always glides on best when I am looking after my skin (which includes getting enough sleep and eating my leafy greens).
But for today, I am focussing on my at-home routine and more specifically, what I can do to get the most out of my skin between salon appointments.
Transparently, I have never used an at-home LED device before but it has been at the top of my wishlist.
After researching and honestly getting a bit confused about which one was best, Therabody landed at Adore (talk about divine timing) and knew I’d be the perfect person to give an honest, newbie review.
What Is Therabody?

The device I got to take for a spin is the Therabody Theraface LED Mask.
Enter, Therabody Theraface LED Mask.
This device is a TGA-registered LED face mask that promotes relaxation and stress relief.
Choose between Red Light Therapy, Blue Light Therapy or Red + infrared light therapy (more on this below) while enjoying a vibrating massage treatment.

Before trying this device, the first green flag I saw was that the device was FDA-cleared and TGA-registered.
I did some digging and found that the TheraFace Mask LED's irradiance level (aka the device’s power level) rivals popular competitor devices.
So what does this actually mean?
Whilst the TheraFace Mask LED comes at a strong price point, you get value for money with this high-quality device.

If you’re new to the LED game, I’m going to pop a quick cheat sheet down below which outlines each light therapy offered by this device and what they aim to achieve:

After hearing all of these stats, the price point was starting to feel pretty justifiable, so I knew it was time for me to see if this mask could deliver what it’s promising.
My Therabody TheraFace Mask LED Therapy Review.
If you’re looking for a spoiler alert, here it is: I really do love this mask because it takes the thinking out, making it SUPER easy to use.
It’s already pre-programmed for a full face treatment that consists of 3 x 3-minute intervals offering Red Light, Red + Infrared and Blue Light Therapy in a 9-minute session.
My first impression of the device was that it looked a bit like an Ironman mask. Luckily, I’m a fan of Marvel movies so this almost turned into a selling point for me rather than a deterrent.
This particular mask has a cordless hands-free design so I found it really easy to pop the mask on and go about my daily tasks/chores whilst my face and head were getting pampered.
An important thing to note is that it is recommended to use this device on completely clean skin (including no skincare!) So I liked to pop my mask on straight after the shower before I went in with my skincare routine.
Whilst the mask comes with adjustable straps for a comfort-first fit, I did find it left slight indentations on my skin after wearing it, particularly around the eye and forehead area.
With saying that, these were only mildly visible on the skin and disappeared after a few minutes.
Because of this, I preferred to wear the mask at night so I didn't have to worry about any marks on my face post-use.
This is a very intentional and well-thought-out product, from the clever stand it can sit on when not in use, all the way through to the built-in vibrating massage treatments and easy access USBC charging point.
If I was watching TV whilst the mask was on I sometimes opted to have the vibrating massage treatment switched off as it makes a quiet whirring noise, however, most nights I chose to just sit back and relax while the massagers hit key pressure points on my face.
If you want a face massage but have already completed your light treatments for the day, you can also enjoy a 15-minute vibrating treatment without the lights - hello multitasking hero!
Whilst I have only used this device for 7 full days, I genuinely do feel like I have seen a slight change in my skin.
It feels slightly more plump/radiant and a particular static line that sits in between my brows has appeared to soften.
Whilst I know that 7 days is not enough to reap the full benefits of an LED device, I am super excited to see the results after a 12-week+ period.
Were there any cons?
The ONLY cons that I could think of would be the price tag, along with the minimal markings that you may experience post-wear.
Whilst the price is high, this is an extremely intentional mask that is backed by science which really does validate its cost in my opinion.
There are more affordable options out there, however, once you start digging into the irradiance and Joule levels (the things that make the device powerful/efficacious), you will find that you generally get what you pay for.
Final Verdict.
All in all, I have really enjoyed this mask and was super surprised at how easy this was to fit into my everyday routine.
This mask would be amazing for all experience levels, from at-home LED aficionados all the way through to someone looking to take their first steps into the LED world.
Working to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, skin tone and texture all whilst boosting skin radiance and luminosity, this mask really is a one-stop shop.
Whilst it comes with a lofty price tag, in my opinion, it is a skin-vestment that you really won’t regret.
