Who are Carriere Freres?
Starting their journey into candle creation in 1884, the Carrière brothers decided to transform the candle, which at the time was considered a practical light source for the evenings, into something that could complete the home.
Winning a gold medal for their invention at the Universal Exposition of 1889 held in Paris, Carriere Freres set out to modernise candles. Inspired by the work of 18th century botanists and adventurers, they worked to transform fine fragrant ingredients into scented candles that could fill a room with their liveliness.
With thoughtful blends of waxes that beautifully carry the delicate spring and summer notes of their hero scents, Carrière Frères has the same lineage as Cire Trudon candles. Originating from one of the oldest and most reputable candle companies in the world, Carrière Frères once worked in la Manufacture Royale de Cire, which continued to supply the finest wax across France even after the French Revolution.

What is the best way to care for my Carrière Frères candle?
With a special blend of vegetable waxes that brings out the best of a fragrance, there are a few candle tips to get the best from your home fragrance.
- The first time you light your Carrière Frères candle is the most important. Ensure that you leave your candle burning until the top surface has liquified. This will prevent candle tunnelling throughout the rest of the life of your candle.
- With each use, do not allow candle to burn longer than 3 hours.
- If the candle wick shifts, wait until after your candle is lit and the wax is warm but not hot. This is the best point to reposition your candle wick to centre.
- When the candle cools, protect its surface with a bell jar or cloche to prevent dust build up.
- Never leave your candle unattended.
- Keep candles away from pets and children, and away from draughts and curtains.
- Protect the surface you burn your candle on with a wooden base or small plate.
