When to Apply Neck Cream
Your neck is a very visible, but often overlooked, extension of your face. As with face cream, neck cream is best applied morning and night. The only exceptions to this rule are the same as the exceptions for the face.
If your moisturiser contains SPF, such as Estée Lauder Resilience Lift Firming/Sculpting Face and Neck Creme, don’t apply it in the evening. There's no point in exposing your skin to ingredients it can't use.
If your moisturiser contains retinol, such as Mirenesse Power Lift Wrinkle Zero Night Renewal Serum, don’t apply it during the day. Of course, the word 'night' in this product name is a dead giveaway, but your decision-making may not always be so simple. Just remember that retinol and sun don't mix.
Most other creams can be used morning and night.
Are there any special ways to apply neck cream?
When applying neck cream, be careful not to pull this delicate skin. Neck skin is much thinner than facial skin and tends to show age more quickly.
Just as you would on the face, apply your cream in upward-sweeping motions to discourage sagging. This strategy is no miracle cure, but working against gravity is always a good idea.
Use a super-light hand when applying your neck cream. Allow the product time to sink in before getting dressed or putting anything on top of it, as the cream can migrate very easily to the hair or shoulders, or settle into neck creases.
Is it okay to layer neck creams?
Layering neck creams is fine, but it's not necessarily the best option if you’re looking to achieve maximum results.
Once you apply a thick and heavy moisturiser, such as Dr. Hauschka Regenerating Neck and Décolleté Cream, your skin absorbs as much of the product as it can. Hence, absorption of any other product added on top will be limited to non-existent.

To get the maximum benefit from any skincare treatment products, simply ensure you’re applying those products in the order of lightest weight and consistency to heaviest.
