AB LAB Makes Skincare Debut With the Launch of 5 New Affordable Products

It’s an exciting day at the Adore Beauty office when your company—who have 23 years of beauty knowledge and experience under their belt—announce their foray into skincare with the launch of AB LAB SKIN.

Huddled around a table lined with rows of the five new products, each wrapped in AB LAB’s signature sleek, sustainable packaging, the energy in the room was palpable.

And then, we got to take them home (!!).

The second instalment of the existing range of ‘skinified’ sunscreens, AB LAB SKIN was created off the back of months of research which saw our team survey more than 2,000 Australian women, asking them what’s missing from their beauty regimes.

The main takeaway? Reliable moisturisers and cleansers that won’t break the bank.

Aka, the fundamentals of skincare.

With so many feeling overwhelmed and let down by their current routines, the approach for AB LAB SKIN became clear—it’s time to go back to basics.

I’ve even enlisted the help of a handful of AB staffers who each tried a product suited to their skin type and shared their thoughts with me below.

1. AB LAB Dewy-C Enzymatic Cleansing Balm.

What: AB LAB Dewy-C Enzymatic Cleansing Balm 100G

Who it’s suited to: Normal to dry, and dehydrated skin.

My AB LAB Dewy-C Enzymatic Cleansing Balm review:

Out of all the products in the new AB LAB lineup, this was the one I couldn’t wait to get my hands on.

For too long, I had been sleeping on cleansing balms; blissfully unaware of their gentle yet remarkable abilities. But that all changed when I dipped my fingers into my first tub a few months ago—and I haven’t looked back.

Straight out of the box and into my hot little hands, the balm is giving dreamy sorbet cloud vibes. It even smells delicious.

The texture is fluffy and delicate, and melts down to nothing between my palms.

On application, it does exactly as it promises: lifting makeup, SPF and debris from my skin as I massage it in.

Afterwards, my skin feels soft and hydrated, not at all tight or dry. Even following a second cleanse.

I tried thinking of a single thing I don’t like about the balm, but honestly? There isn’t one.

It’s simple, straightforward skincare that works, and I’m here for it.

So if you’re yet to add a cleansing balm to your skincare routine, this one is more than worthy of a place on your vanity.

2. AB LAB B5 Bounce Conditioning Cleanser.

What: AB LAB B5 Bounce Conditioning Cleanser 150mL

Who it’s suited to: Very dry to normal skin.

Fast facts:

• AB LAB B5 Bounce is a gentle creamy cleanser that sweeps away dirt, makeup, oil and impurities, leaving skin soft, clean, comfortable and moisturised.

• It’s infused with a blend of pro-vitamin B5 (panthenol), olive squalane, hyaluronic acid and Australian native wild rosella extract which work together to attract and seal in moisture and protect the skin barrier.

Jordi’s AB LAB B5 Bounce Conditioning Cleanser review:

“As a dry skin girlie, I’m always looking for cleansers that won’t strip the moisture out of my skin. So when I heard that AB LAB was launching the B5 Bounce Conditioning Cleanser, I knew that I wanted to try it.

Let’s talk about the packaging, it’s so cute and practical!!

I love the twist top and the fact that it stays standing on my shelf. It lets out the perfect little dollop and I don’t need to worry about awkwardly putting the lid back on when I have said dollop on my hands.

I was given a little tip by the AB LAB team on the correct way to apply the cleanser to maximise the benefits:

I started with a dry face and lathered the product like a moisturiser. I then added water to my face, let the cleanser emulsify and gently rubbed my face to remove makeup and any other nasties.

Now here is the important step: gently use a cloth to remove the cleanser! As this is a thicker cleaner, using a cloth removes any extra residue but still leaves the skin feeling hydrated.

I love the thicker formulation, especially for the winter months when my skin needs a bit more love.

I would say this is best for those with dry or sensitive skin types who are looking for a well-priced cleanser that doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry and tight.”

3. AB LAB B3 Balance Foaming Facial Wash.

What: AB LAB B3 Balance Foaming Facial Wash 150mL

Who it’s suited to: Most skin types, especially normal to oily and combination skin.

Fast facts:

• AB LAB B3 Balance is a foaming facial wash designed to help dissolve dirt, oil, makeup and impurities while regulating excess oil production.

• It’s infused with a unique blend of mild coconut-derived surfactants, niacinamide, an AHA/BHA complex and Australian native desert lime extract.

• Desert finger lime extract—rich in vitamins B, C and E—provides antioxidant protection against free radical damage.

• It helps to clear congestion and refine the appearance of pores for a cleansed yet comfortable complexion.

Maddy’s AB LAB B3 Balance Foaming Wash review:

“I was given the AB LAB B3 Foaming Facial Wash to road test, a product that promises to help dissolve dirt, oil, makeup and other impurities.

As an oily, acne-prone gal, I need a cleanser that is as gentle as it is effective. Sign me up!

This little beauty contains an AHA/BHA complex and niacinamide (amongst other gorg inclusions). These ingredients immediately piqued my interest and they’re what has worked for me in the past to keep my skin both clean and nourished as I deal with breakouts.

The first thing I noticed about this product is that the packaging had a twist cap that dispensed the product without having to actually remove the cap itself, which is SO handy.

Especially when you’re deep in a double cleanse and things are slippery.

The product itself had a gel consistency and was a little more gloopy than I expected, but a little went a long way.

It immediately foamed up into a gorgeous lather when it was mixed with water on my skin, and my skin was left feeling incredibly clean without the tightness or stinging I sometimes feel from a cleanser that clears congestion.

Plus, it left me with a nice, even complexion that didn’t feel stripped. A win!

I personally loved this cleanser, and would recommend that anyone with oily or acne-prone skin give it a try - it’s slotted perfectly into my routine!”

4. AB LAB Dewy-C Luminous Skin Cream.

What: AB LAB Dewy-C Luminous Skin Cream 50mL

Who it’s suited to: Normal to dry, dehydrated and dull skin.

Fast facts:

"I’m a huge fan of AB LAB Dewy-C SPF50+ Facial Sun Milk 75mL (it’s so good), so had high expectations of this moisturiser.

Luckily, it delivered.

I've been slathering this on my face every night for the last week and it feels comforting and nourishing, but still lightweight.
