Some damaged things can’t be fixed: a broken heart, the environment, one-of-a-kind antiques, red wine stains on your favourite pair of pants (this one hurts).
You know what can be? Stressed strands.
Whether damaged by heat styling, frequent colouring or chemical treatments, or otherwise, there are products out there promising to resuscitate hair that needs a minute.
As a former scalp bleach blonde (
yes, really), I’ve dealt with a decent amount of hair damage.
At one point my hair was so damaged it looked like a child had taken to it with scissors.
While my locks have come a long way since then, my experience taught me that you can never fully “heal” hair damage (once the cells are dead they can’t regenerate themselves), but you can improve your hair’s health and overall look and feel.
I was introduced to this snazzy serum a couple of weeks back by the brand who were kind enough to demonstrate its capabilities on a few of us Adore Beauty staffers in a Virtue hair wash regimen.
As for the results, I’m just going to leave this here:

Needless to say, when the opportunity arose to share the VIRTUE hair serum with you, our lovely Beauty IQ readers, my tresses selflessly volunteered as tribute.
Let’s get into it.
What Is The Virtue Damage Reverse Serum?

In a nutshell, the Virtue Damage Reverse Serum is a leave-in hair treatment designed to instantly repair existing damage and shield strands from future damage.
At the core of its formula is Alpha Keratin 60ku®, Virtue’s special signature ingredient in all their haircare ranges (including my fave,
Flourish), but at its highest concentration in this serum.
Alpha Keratin 60ku® is a hair-identical protein ethically sourced from human keratin extracted from human hair. Its purpose is to locate damage in the hair, replenish lost keratin, and strengthen strands from the inside out.
Additionally, there are a few other ingredients to boost its efficacy: biomimetic peptides to restore damage, plant-derived polysaccharides for moisture retention, and a photo-protection complex to shield hair from UV rays.
All of these clever ingredients combined help ensure smoother, softer, more resilient hair that’s protected from future harm.
Here are some other things to know about the Virtue Damage Reverse Serum:
Suitable for all hair types, including colour-treated hair.
Light, silky serum texture that absorbs quickly without weighing hair down or leaving residue.
Enriched with a nurturing blend of creamy coconut and tropical yuzu extracts, wrapped in warm woods.
Clinically proven to instantly repair 98% of split ends and increase hair flexibility to reduce breakage after just one use.
All Virtue products are vegan, gluten and cruelty-free, and free from sulphates, parabens, phthalates, synthetic colours and dyes.
Apply 2-3 pumps from roots to ends on damp or dry hair, as either the first step in your daily hair care routine or on clean, damp hair.
Excited? On the edge of your seat? Let’s not waste any more time and dig in.
My Virtue Damage Reverse Serum Review.

No doubt it was obvious from the jump that I really liked this product.
I loved how soft my hair felt the first time I experienced it, and I had hoped this wasn’t some salon sorcery I wouldn’t be able to replicate at home.
Truthfully, it did take a little trial and error to perfect – I found it worked best with a generous application on hair that’s semi-damp and not wet, at least in the case of my coloured, often-course hair.
It’s not like other haircare products (such as
K18) where less is more, in the case of the Virtue Damage Reverse Serum, I needed a solid three pumps to feel that instant softness and manageability. And it still didn’t weigh down my fine hair or leave a greasy residue.
The other thing I love about this serum is that it can be used daily on dry hair, as well as with your regular hair masks and styling products, and even then it still won’t make your hair heavy (take note, fine-haired friends).

It also smells amazing, like a tropical holiday sitting seaside with a fresh coconut in hand. Mmmm.
After a wash, this Virtue serum and a blow-dry, my hair had that touchable softness we all crave and felt healthy and hydrated.
It also looked fuller, bouncier and shinier.
In terms of its promise to repair 97% of split ends, for full transparency I only recently had a haircut so my split ends are pretty minimal, but for what it’s worth they looked less wispy.
I’m struggling to find anything I don’t like about the Virtue Serum. Its price tag is rather steep, but I can’t see myself running out of it anytime soon.
So if you’re in the market for hair repair products and your budget permits, I’d definitely recommend taking a closer look at the Virtue Damage Reverse Serum.
