The biodynamic process incorporates an ethical, spiritual, and ecological approach to agriculture that goes beyond organic. Farmers that grow for Weleda use the moon, sun, and planets to guide their planting and harvesting cycles. This method of farming improves the soil's fertility with every planting.
Only natural sprays made from silica, manure, and a compost of herbs are applied to bring life to the soil. Weleda's 135 acres of biodynamic gardens has never been touched by any chemicals or pesticides.
All Weleda skincare products are suitable for vegetarians. Weleda's select vegan products do not contain any raw materials derived from animals, but in the manufacturing process, contact with animal products cannot be ruled out entirely. Some of the vegan products from Weleda are Almond Soothing Cleansing Lotion, Gentle Cleansing Milk, Sage Deodorant, Birch Cellulite Oil, and Oat Replenishing haircare products.
Fragrance is very important to Weleda. Scents are emotional; they can calm, balance, stimulate, or brighten a mood, and their appeal may change as we age. For this reason, Weleda has established a Fragrance Panel of specially trained members to represent the target group for a particular product line.
When developing fragrances, Weleda takes an aromatherapeutic approach and considers the effects that essential oils have on the skin. For example, depending on the product, the essential oil ingredient may have a warming, cooling, or anti-inflammatory effect.
