Shop Antioxidant and Brightening Serums

One of the most common skin care complaints is pigmentation, especially for mature and aging skin. Pigmentation can appear in many forms from brown, age spots to redness and sallow skin. One of the best ways to tackle pigmentation is to use targeted treatments with high concentrations of active ingredients. While your daily moisturiser and cleanser can help to slowly fade pigmentation and retain hydration, using high potency serums are the best ways to deliver fast and dramatic results to your complexion.

Brightening serums will help to minimise the appearance of pigmentation and balance your skin tone for a more even colouring. Brightening serums are also often packed full of antioxidants. This is because pigmentation is mainly caused by external aggressors such as free radical and sun damage so the best way to prevent pigmentation from forming in the first place is to protect your skin with antioxidants.

The Ordinary have a large selection of high-performance serums which can be used to protect skin against free radicals and brighten the complexion. The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% is one of the most effective for tackling pigmentation. Vitamin C itself is not only a highly effective antioxidant to protect the skin from damage but is a natural skin brightener. The water-free, silicone-free stable formula is boosted with spheres of hyaluronic acid which ensure that skin isn’t left feeling dehydrated after application.

Another popular vitamin C product is the Skinstitut Vitamin C 100%. This pure form L-Ascorbic Acid is a lightweight powder which should be blended into other Skinstitut treatment products to enhance their results and brighten the skin. The Ordinary also offer their 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder which works in the same way.

Wouldn't recommend this one

Unfortunately I couldn't get over the gritty formulation or the metallic smell. i wouldn't buy this one again but worth the try being so cheap. It ended up in my bin.

Plump and hydrated, glass skin

The Ordinary Buffet Serum was the first product I tried from this brand and I really enjoyed it. It made my skin look plump and hydrated, and I was constantly complemented on my skin (which is unusual because I suffer with acne prone skin). Although, it didn't do much in regards of oil control, I still continued to reached for this product and would defiantly purchase again.

Just ok

I used ultraceuticals vitamin C serum in the past that did wonders for my skin. As I no longer was able to afford it, I turned to the Ordinary for a more cost-effective alternative. I think it works but the effects are very minimal. The texture is nice and doesn’t irritate my skin.

Good

I've used a few different vitamin brands but these are my favourites. Came with a booklet with information on each one. The products I find are a little bit sticky but at night I don't care because I'm going to bed and during the day my makeup covers that.
