Shop Philip Kingsley

If you like the sound of a hair care brand with a basis in scalp health and science, approved by Audrey Hepburn, we’d like to introduce you to Philip Kingsley.

Founded by legendary English hairdresser Philip Kingsley, this brand is all about giving you your best hair yet. Good hair can be life-changing, they say, and this could well be the line that gives it to you. With fans ranging from Audrey Hepburn to Cate Blanchett to Laurence Olivier, you’d be in good company. If you’re interested, let’s talk about some of the best-loved Philip Kingsley products.

How do I use Philip Kingsley Elasticiser?

So this one is a pre-shampoo treatment. Designed for our gal Audrey, mentioned above, it adds moisture, shine and bounce to hair that’s been through the ringer (or the straightening irons, if we’re going to be more accurate). It’s best used once a week, though if your hair is really parched, you can use it more frequently.

First, get your hair damp. A little spray bottle is handy here. Then, distribute the Elasticizer through your hair in sections, making sure it’s evenly applied. Tie your hair up loosely, if it’s long enough to get in your way, and put on either a shower cap or a towel. It’s not the most stylish look, we know, but the warmth from your head will help the treatment work.

You’ll want to leave it in for at least 20 minutes, though overnight is also completely possible and great. Whenever you go get into the shower, rinse it out well, shampoo twice, and condition as normal.

Which Philip Kingsley products are right for me?

Well, that depends what kind of hair you have, and how your scalp is going. The Philip Kingsley Elasticiser is popular with just about everyone, since it offers general hydration and shine, and there is an extreme version if your hair is particularly parched or damaged.

For problem scalps, plagued by dandruff and itchiness, there’s the Flaky Scalp Cleansing Shampoo, and its matching toner. Used together, these two will clear your skin up with pace.

If it’s volume you seek, consider the Body Building Shampoo, and the conditioner that goes with it. These two will give fine hair the kind of boost it needs, while preventing breakage that would thin it further. Brilliant.

And for blondes, there’s the Pure Blonde Booster Shampoo and the weekly mask to go with. Brassy tones? We don’t know her.

What is trichology?

The quick and easy answer (courtesy of Philip Kingsley) is that as dermatology is to skin, trichology is to hair and the scalp. Basically, it’s all about keeping your scalp as healthy as possible, because apart from anything else, that’s going to lead to thicker, stronger, lusher hair.

When I received this as a sample I hadn’t heard of the brand but the info on the packet had me excited to use the product. Being a new product to Adore, I did some google searching for some additional tips for using it. The sample was enough for 2 treatments, after each treatment my hair was smooth, shiny and ridiculously’s almost like having a hairdresser in a bottle. This will ab...

Hair ended up fluffy

Received this as a sample. My hair has been really good lately and well defined but I wanted a mask for maintenance. Although this made my hair 'soft', it also made it very fluffy and frizzy - my curls weren't well-defined at all.

I usually get around 2-3 days of my curls before needing to wash it again. It's the second day and I've already tied it up. Last night, the roots were weig...

Incredibly softening and voluminous

I recently received a sample of this product, and had never heard of this brand before. I have Hagrid hair, and I found that this treatment left my hair feeling incredibly soft, however was more 'wispy', which was a little strange. By the second day, it calmed my Hagrid hair down and it looked and felt just like I had had a professional blow dry. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking ...
