This is a fantastic night cream, especially for sensitive skin. Not too heavy, reasonably priced, leaves the skin feeling hydrated.

Comfortable on skin

I was recommended La Roche-Posay by an AdoreBeauty online consultant for my sensitive, red & dry 51 year old skin.

Whenever I try a new range I like to get a selection of products to give it a sold try. This review covers the following La Roche-Posay products which I've used for 4 weeks now:

- Rosaliac AR intense
- Toleraine Ultra
- Toleraine Ultra Nuit
- Toleraine Sensitive
- Toleraine Sensitive Riche
- Toleraine Riche
- Cicaplast Baume B5
- Cicaplast Mains
- Cicaplast Levres

First of all, what the heck are each of these products designed for?!!? Which do I use for what? They all claim to "soothe, hydrate, repair" or some combination thereof but the facial creams are hard to decipher. Sure "nuit" is a night time cream and the Rosaliac an antirosacea product but Toleraine Sensitive, Toleraine Sensitive Riche, Toleraine Riche?!!? Utterly confusing & the La Roche-Posay website helped not one bit.

The positives of these products are that they are not heavily fragranced, sit comfortably on my skin/lips/hands and soak into my skin quite well. I particularly like the lip balm & hand barrier cream. Both are good at providing protection without a heavy, greasy feel. The Toleraine Sensitive cream also soaks in particularly well.

Unfortunately most of the face creams live a shiny film which I find particularly annoying on my already often red face. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer sound familiar?

The Rosaliac AR Intense lotion was in fact not intense enough to calm my skin when angry, red, sore & burning. It's just not thick & emollient enough. Similarly while the Ultra products are fragrance, alcohol, paraben & lanolin free, they're just not moisturising enough for my skin.

Conversely the Cicaplast Baume B5 cream must be meant for nappy rash as it reminds me of zinc oxide. It sits on top of the skin and leaves a white film over the skin.

None of the La Roche-Posay products aggravated or irritated my skin but aside from the hand & lip creams, none of them felt like they were doing anything to make my skin better. I'm ambivalent about recommending these products so I'd suggest you try them for yourself & see how you go.

  2. Feels luxurious

    Shay

I've been on the hunt for a night cream that isn't too thick or smells like perfume for a long time. This product is so delicate yet rich and feels so luxurious on the skin - my new go-to!
  3. Feels luxurious

    Shay

I've been on the hunt for a night cream that isn't too thick and doesn't smell like perfume for a long time. This cream is so delicate on the skin and feels rich and expensive - I love it!
  4. Nice night moisturizer

    Joanna

Only been using this for a few weeks, it's a good night time moisturizer. Skin feels nice in the morning.
  5. Great

    Peter

I have been using this product for a few weeks now and I really like how it makes my skin feel. No perfume, goes on smoothly and doesn't feel too greasy.
  6. Good for hydrating oily-combination skin

    Maria

My friend has flawless skin without makeup and she swears by La Roche Posay. I didn't take her seriously at first as I thought her skin is more a result of her genetics and good diet, and I have tried so many reputable skincare lines myself I wasn't expecting much from another French pharmacy springwater brand. But I have recently started trying a few of their products and so far I'm impressed.

I have to say, the naming of some of this brand's product is a bit confusing, and they need to make it easier to navigate their products. I wouldn't have thought that a cream with the words "toleriane ultra overnight" is designed for oily skin, but according to the description it is. It has been good at hydrating my oily sensitive skin, over actives or on its own. Definitely not too heavy to use during the day either.
  7. Great evening moisturiser

    Holly

This is great for use at night time. It doesn't feel very heavy which I find can be a problem with moisturisers designed for evening use. I will be repurchasing.
  8. awesome night cream

    Abby

rich and nourishing without making your skin feel weighed down with products
  9. Really soothing

    Jessica

Great for dry skin without blocking pores
  10. Fabulous

    Melissa

I love this moisturiser, it is deeply moisturising but doesn't not irritate my skin or cause congestion or breakouts. I use it day and night, it absorbs well and doesn't leave any tacky residue or feel heavy - my skin doesn't look oily, just moisturised and healthy. Highly recommend.
  11. Very nice product

    Deborah

I have been using Duac gel at night which can be very drying but with using this product at night there has been no dryness or flaky skin. Very thick and absorbent.
  12. Most hydrating for acne prone skin

    Lara196751

This is an excellent night moisturiser especially for combination and oily acne prone skin. It soothes the trouble areas and provides moisture to the dry areas. Highly recommended.

  14. Great product

    Jessica

I really like this night cream. It is quite light weight, but I find it amazing for layering over top of oils and other serums. However it still performs well on it's own. Recommend for normal to combination skin
  15. Exellent night cream

    Bella

I love la roche's toleriane line, and this is no exception. It doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, is perfect for putting on top of retinol serums or prescription stieva-A, and over a couple of weeks does improve the look of skin. I think it must be the addition of niacinamide that makes this a little more restorative than the toleriane ultra light or 0% - my skin looks a bit plumper in the morning when I use this instead of the other two. Definitely recommend for sensitive skin needing a bit of extra tlc, and the packaging is amazing - perfect for travel.
  16. Worth a try

    Leyna

I have severely sensitive skin due to eczema. This product gave me blister like reactions within a week. Although I’ve heard a lot of good feedback from it, it wasn’t for me
  17. Very light cream

    Elizabeth

Perfect if you have sensitive and oily skin as it doesn’t leave a build up and melts nicely into your skin
  18. Great for dry skin

    Christine

My skin gets dry and flaky in winter - maybe too much of rubbing my face on my wonderfully warm electric when I’m sleeping....

I got this as a sample and managed three applications which helped massively with my flaky skin. Putting in an order now for a bottle.
  19. A bit sticky

    Rose

I received a sample of this that only lasted two applications so I cannot really comment on the long term effects. However, the consistency was gel-like and it felt sticky on my skin. It definitely did not irritate it, but it also didn't really feel like my skin sucked it in. If I received another sample I would use it, but I don't know that I liked enough to buy it.
  20. Excellent product

    Charlene

first time buying this product and i love it after 2 weeks i noticed less redness and my skin appeared clearer, will definitely be repurchasing
