I Tried These New Kérastase Curl Manifesto Products on My Curly, Frizz-Prone Hair

So you've decided to embrace your natural curls? Hooray!

I'm pretty sure you might be feeling very excited... and a little overwhelmed.

I know I did when I started looking into products for curly hair.

There's SO MUCH curly hair info (and opinions) on the internet that it can be a hard to figure out where to start on your curly hair journey.

The first thing I did was find out my hair type and curl pattern. A quick Google search revealed that I had curly 3B hair.

Great! What next?

I watched a tonne of YouTube videos and bought a bunch of products.

Some left me with noodle-like, crunchy curls (yuck!), while others were way too heavy for my hair and turned my drying time into an eternity.

All I wanted was a wash day routine that is fuss-free, invigorating and a little bit bougie, that would leave my curls looking fresh, bouncy and soft. 

Is that too much to ask?

Turns out it isn't, because luxe haircare brand Kérastase have launched their new Curl Manifesto range.

But do they live up to the hype?

Is Kérastase good for curly hair? And is Kérastase curly girl approved?

What Is Kérastase Curl Manifesto?

Let me tell you right now, Kérastase didn't come to play when it came to creating their first-ever curly and coily hair range.

It has a product for every curl type, from wavy to coily and every curl in between.

The new Kérastase Curl Manifesto range promises up to 99% stronger curls, with up to 73% more hydration.

It provides a unique combination of hydration, definition and strength, all while creating a memorable, luxurious wash day experience.

There are two main ingredients that you'll find within each product in the range:

• Manuka Honey: This powerful natural honey comes from New Zealand's Manuka flowers and can help to improve scalp health, boost hair growth and moisturise hair for a smooth, shiny finish.

• Ceramides: This patented biomimetic ceramide helps to fill in the cracks that occur in dry damaged hair so that the hair is reinforced from the inside out.

These ingredients work together in the Kérastase Curl Manifesto products to preserve and enhance the natural S shape of all waves, curls and coils.

Simply put, Curl Manifesto understood the assignment.

Now, let's go through each of the five key products in the range and how I use them in my routine.

Kérastase Curl Manifesto Products.

1. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Bain Curl Shampoo.

Kérastase Curl Manifesto Bain Curl Shampoo 250ml is a sulphate-free shampoo, which I use as my first step after wetting my hair.

It is gentle on the scalp to allow hair growth while being tough on dirt, build-up, pollution and impurities.

This will infuse your hair with vital nutrients for bouncy curls and voluminous hair.

Pro tip: If you want it to lather a bit more, try to add a bit of water to the hair rather than adding more product.

2. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Masque.

Kérastase Curl Manifesto Masque Curl 200ml mask is literally like butter!

I use this right after shampooing my hair as it intensely nourishes and strengthens brittle and damaged hair.

I like to use my fingers to evenly distribute the product, then leave it on for about 5 to 10 minutes while I proceed with the rest of my shower.

This mask is deeply moisturising and gives curls more elasticity and definition. 

3. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Fondant Curl Conditioner.

Need a more lightweight conditioning product to combat frizz, without weighing hair down?

The Kérastase Curl Manifesto conditioner is it!

You can apply Kérastase Curl Manifesto Fondant Curl Conditioner 250ml after shampooing if you have finer curls, or add after rinsing out the mask for more hydration.

I find doing this helps to easily detangle the knottiest knots for extra soft and shiny curls.

4. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Creme Curl.

This Kérastase curl cream is a winner.

Not only does the Kérastase Curl Manifesto Creme Curl 150ml help with boosting hydration, but it provides heat protection of up to 230°C, which makes me feel way less guilty about using heat to diffuse my hair.

Once my hair is all washed and towel-dried, I apply a generous amount of this super lightweight, moisturising and frizz-reducing leave-in treatment.

5. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Refresh Spray.

Kérastase Curl Manifesto Refresh Spray 190ml is a must-have product in any curly hair routine.

I spray my hair with this lightweight refreshing mist on days two, three, four and onwards to bring curls back to life before the next wash day.

The curly hair spray instantly revives, rehydrates and reactivates my curls.

My Kérastase Curl Manifesto Review.

After trialling the Curl Manifesto Kérastase range for a few weeks, it's safe to say I'm obsessed.

As for my before and after results, they speak for themselves!

But let me explain why these products are so good.

Sometimes with products for curly hair, they either work really well but look a bit naff, or they look chic and fun, but don't deliver what you need.

I wanted an uncomplicated curly hair routine with products that do what they say (but also look nice and feel luxe), and Curl Manifesto ticks all of those boxes, and then some.

The luxe experience started the minute I laid my eyes on the gorgeous tan/light peach packaging.

Then I opened the bottles and the subtle Floral Manifesto scent filled my shower with fresh notes of frangipani and white musk. Total bliss!

And don't get me started on how silky, rich and delicious the products felt.

While you can find great curly hair products at all price points, as someone who has been washing my curly hair for decades, the experience matters.

Every step of this hair wash routine felt more like a ritual where I was showing love and care to my curly hair, rather than getting it over and done with.

Final Verdict...

Do you need to use all five of these Kérastase products together for great results?

Even though they've been designed to work together for your bounciest curls yet, not everyone has the means to add all five to their routine.

Which were my favourites? That's like asking a parent to choose their favourite child!

Instead, I'll number the Kérastase Curl Manifesto products in the order I'd repurchase them when they run out, or if my budget didn't stretch to be able to get all five again at once.

1. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Masque Curl, $68.

Since curly hair is prone to dryness and breakage, your top priority should be to ensure that your hair is deeply moisturised and strengthened as soon as possible.

This mask delivers that, and some.

2. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Creme Curl, $54.

Heat damage causes dry and brittle hair and this leave-in treatment will protect your curls from heat of up to 230°C while drying and styling.

And as if I needed another reason to love this product, it also helps reduce frizz by shielding hair from up to 80% humidity!

3. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Refresh Spray, $52.

Every day can be a good curl day as this mist helps to keep your curl popping in between washes.

Such a great product to have on hand, because washing your hair takes a lot of time and energy!

4. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Bain Curl Shampoo, $52.

And 5. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Fondant Curl Conditioner, $52.

Don't sleep on this shampoo and conditioner.

This will ensure that your hair is cleansed, hydrated and moisturised without weighing it down.

In conclusion, trust me, the Curl Manifesto range is a keeper.

It's an awesome place to start if you're looking for products for curly and coily hair and are feeling overwhelmed by lots of different options.
