The use of perfume dates back thousands of years, with the world’s oldest surviving perfume estimated to be over 4000 years old. Traditionally created from oils extracted from flowers, aromatic plants and other precious materials, modern perfumes also usually contain synthetic ingredients, often to replace animal-derived ingredients such as ambergris.

Eau de Parfum is one of the most popular perfume types, with a wide variety of scent families and types available.

What is the difference between Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne?

The main difference between these three types of perfumes is usually the concentration of the pure perfume essence. Eau de Parfum is usually stronger and contains 10-20% essence, Eau de Toilette is often lighter and fresher, containing 4-15% perfume essence and Eau de Cologne is weaker still, usually containing around 2-5% pure perfume essence.

Is Eau de Parfum for men or women?

Eau de Parfum is gender-neutral – the name refers to the concentration of the pure perfume essence. While some fragrances can lean more masculine or feminine, the best perfume is one that smells good to you, and works with your particular body chemistry.

How Do I Know If A Perfume is right for me?

There are many factors that can influence how a fragrance smells, and it’s important to try a scent in a variety of situations. Some perfumes are better suited to warmer or cooler months. The temperature, and your body heat and acidity can affect the way a perfume smells on you.

You can try applying less, or on pulse points that are further from your nose – the wrist isn’t always the best place for a scent. Stronger scents can be applied on pulse points such as the back of your knees.

If you have found that you’ve tried the fragrance out multiple days in a row and it doesn’t quite smell the same as it did before, try switching up your perfume or taking a break - you may have gotten used to the scent, and can’t smell it on yourself anymore - this doesn’t mean that other people can’t. Ask the people around you what they think. After all, fragrance can be a journey shared.

Disappointed in variety and size of samples

Unlike other reviews I did not think these were good value for $39. 9 vials of only 1.5ml and the spray was broken on one. These are just the tiny samples you get for free at any perfume counter. Sure they are hard to find brands but I found the variety of scents to be lacking. Mainly heavy, cloying florals. Even the 2 woody scents turned floral on me. If you like chypre, musky, citrus or sea frag...

Love this little set. It looks nice and the bottles are classy. A great way to test out the different scents available. Reasonably priced set too.

Spicy and Fresh

Such a lively fragrance, it really surprised me. Very different to the perfumes I would normally wear. Smells like pepper, wood, ginger and lime. Great for anytime of day, and anyone.
