Sharing is saving.
This is what I tell myself when my partner raids my skincare stash. Which has become a lot easier since we live together now.
Unless you’re a bajillionaire, these days, most of us are looking to tighten our wallets and cut back on expenses.
And spending on skincare is no exception. However, I’m not willing to compromise on quality.
Which is why I decided to embark on this little skincare experiment, sharing beloved products with my partner.
I mean, he’s already stealing them anyway.
Being the perfect candidates to road-test this approach, we eagerly dove into this challenge searching high and low for a skincare routine that would suit us both.
My partner and I have very different skin types...
Mine is a bit more oily, with no major concerns whereas Vu, my boyfriend, is dehydrated but also oily, incredibly sensitive, and slightly reactive, with a dash of acne…
Hunter Lab, renowned for their high-quality and effective skincare, seemed like a no-brainer for our joint skincare journey as their range is designed to cater to various skin types.
So without further ado, let's dive into my 'partner-collab' road-test and review with The Hunter Lab products complete with before and afters.
Hunter Lab is like a breath of fresh air for your skincare routine.
Made with love in Melbourne, they combine the power of nature to create top-notch, natural skincare and haircare.
What sets Hunter Lab apart is their understanding of the modern lifestyle. They don't just address your skincare needs; they infuse your daily routine with a touch of contemporary design, luxurious textures and effortless simplicity.
Packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, Hunter Lab's products ensure your skin gets the nourishment it deserves. From face to hands, hair to body, they've got you covered with their well-curated range.
This little gem works wonders by moisturising and rejuvenating your face while giving premature ageing a good fight.
Hunter Lab really knows how to make your bathroom routine feel like a spa retreat.
Their body products and bath salts are less than ordinary; they come in stunning packaging and offer high-quality, vegan formulas that make your skin feel pampered and cared for.
Its unique formulation combines a blend of 10 natural oils, such as rosehip, kakadu plum seed, and hemp seed oil as well as a gentle bouquet of essential oils.
Fast facts:
Supercharged with 10 natural oils.
Skin appears brighter, smoother and balanced.
Cleanses the skin without stripping or dehydrating it.
Cleanses, hydrates and refreshes the skin in one step.
Melts away impurities such as pollution, excess sebum and daily grime with ease.
How to use Hunter Lab Cleansing Oil:
Apply a dollar coin-sized amount of the Hunter Lab Lipid Vitamin Cleansing Oil onto dry hands, gently rub between palm and fingertips and apply to a dry face, making sure to get into all the crevices.
Dampen your hands and massage them back over your face to transform the oil into a light milk. Then rinse away!
Our Hunter Lab Cleansing Oil review:
Cleansing oils are my favourite in winter.
The Hunter Lab Lipid Vitamin Cleansing oil gave such a deep cleanse and left my skin feeling bouncy and hydrated.
Lazy person hack: Do your face cleansing in the shower. It’s less messy that way, plus the cleanser fills the shower with a delightful and luxurious aroma. Big win.
Oh yes, and my partner Vu's thoughts? He loved this soothing cleanse too!
Hunter Lab Lipid Vitamin Face Oil is specifically formulated to promote luminosity and protect the skin from premature ageing and pigmentation through its antioxidant-rich formula.
Facts facts:
Targets dehydration and roughness, while supporting the skin to prevent excess oiliness.
Sinks in quickly into the skin to nourish effectively and leave skin hydrated and comfortable.
Made for luminosity, rich in antioxidants that defend the skin from premature ageing and pigmentation.
How to use Hunter Lab Face Oil:
Massage 3-5 drops of the Hunter Lab Lipid Vitamin Face Oil all over your face and neck.
This one (like most facial oils) can be used after your serum step and layered over your moisturiser.
Our Hunter Lab Face Oil review:
I always feel so pleasantly surprised whenever I discover a lighter facial oil.
The Hunter Lab Lipid Vitamin Face Oil feels glorious on the skin.
We applied this after the moisturiser both in the morning and at night. It provides the same level of hydration as a sleeping mask whilst being ever so light on the skin.
This is the first-ever facial oil I’ve seen Vu use consistently, his skin looked a lot less flaky throughout the weeks and there were absolutely no complaints. Which is completely wild to me.
It's formulated to be used with serums to enhance their effectiveness.
Fast facts:
Assists in minimising the effects of oxidative stress.
Allows skin to heal and reduces skin's inflammatory response.
Helps to minimise the appearance of redness and inflammation in the skin.
Plumps and nourishes the skin to improve the look of visible signs of ageing.
Formulated with niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, microalgae, bladderwrack extract and mushroom complex for hydration and calming properties, and a healthier and more revitalised complexion.
How to use Hunter Lab Marine Essence:
Think of this as a hybrid between a toner and a serum!
After cleansing, apply a 5-cent amount into the palm of your hand and gently press it into your skin.
Then you can follow with your serum and moisturiser.
Our Hunter Lab Marine Essence review:
Y’know when you get out of a steaming hot shower and your skin is crying for hydration?
The Marine Healing Essence is your knight in shining armour.
The consistency is the perfect middle ground where it can moisturise the skin without being excessively watery to the point of dripping off your face.
Vu and I both love an active hydrator in the ‘toner’ step of our skincare routine.
Hunter Lab Peptide Eye Renewal 30ml is a triple-action eye concentrate that brightens and strengthens the skin, mixed in with the goodness of active peptides to address fine lines, dark circles and puffiness.
Fast facts:
Active peptides tackle the look of fine lines, dark circles and puffiness.
Rich, smoothing cream texture that brightens and strengthens under-eye skin.
Maintains optimal hydration levels and helps to prevent transepidermal water loss.
How to use Hunter Lab Peptide Eye Renewal:
Use one pump of the product and gently dab it into the skin around your eye area with your ring finger.
Our Hunter Lab Peptide Eye Renewal review:
When it comes to my eyes I appreciate a pump (I’m not the biggest fan of pot packaging).
The Peptide Eye Renewal was the hydration our poor, neglected eye area needed this winter.
It’s light, quick-absorbing and leaves the skin around the eye contour looking happy and healthy.
Hunter Lab Daily Face Fuel 100ml is an organic facial moisturiser designed to effectively hydrate and rejuvenate the skin while combating signs of premature ageing.

Fast facts:
Natural formulation.
Intensely hydrates skin.
Nutrient-rich daily moisturiser.
Replenishes and restores skin.
Corrects the effects of sun damage.
Fights premature ageing caused by free radical damage.
How to use Hunter Lab Daily Face Fuel:
This one can be used both AM and PM.
Simply layer this on top of any serum or under your sunscreen or facial oil for *maximum* plumpness.
Our Hunter Lab Daily Face Fuel review:
The star of the show!
Vu is obsessed with the way the Daily Face Fuel smells.
It's what you expect a five-star spa to smell like. The formula is lightweight and absorbs effortlessly into the skin.
Bouncy, hydrated goodness is the result - *chef’s kiss.*
It’s wild how gloriously the entire Hunter Lab range worked on both of our skin types.
To give you some context, Vu has previously washed off moisturiser that works phenomenally on my skin.
I can’t even describe to you how complicated his skin is or how particular he is with his hydrators OR how much he was against facial oils.
Hunter Lab is straightforward, luxurious, spa-like skincare.
Oh, and the packaging? I’m a person that is very against stuff on the bathroom vanity, but the Hunter Lab packaging looks luxe and expensive that I consider it decor.
To wrap it up, it's good stuff.
So whether you share your skincare or have extremely complicated skin, Hunter Lab is definitely worth a try.
