How OPI Started

In the world of professional nail care, OPI is clearly the industry leader and one of our favourite nail polish brands. However, OPI got its start in a surprising way.

In 1981, what is now OPI started out as a small dental supply company. As the use of acrylics in the dental industry started to come into its own, OPI switched gears and developed an acrylic system for faux nails. 

The company marketed its new product to nail salons and soon realised that acrylic products were a phenomenal hit with clients.

How to apply and remove OPI nail polish:

Want to know how to apply and remove gel nail polish? First, prep the nail bed with hot water and a cuticle scrub. Then, follow with a nail file and scissors and shape your nails. Follow with a base product before you apply your first coat.

In total you should apply 2 coats of polish on top of your base and a top coat. If you’ve ever wondered how long between coats of OPI nail polish you should wait, we recommend waiting two minutes between each coat. 

Are OPI nail colors safe?

Many people want to know if OPI creates non toxic nail polish. OPI is a 3-free brand free of dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde and toluene.
