Being the ‘Beauty Guru’ for my friends and family is no easy task.

I constantly get bombarded with questions and poked at for recommendations. I must confess, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When a Chloe-recommended product becomes another’s holy grail, it fuels me. Truly.

One recommendation I can always rely on? CeraVe.

Simple cleansers? CeraVe has plenty of them at prices and quality that no one can beat.

Dry skin? CeraVe Moisturising Lotion.

Need something thicker? CeraVe Moisturising Cream.

So when my best friend in the whole wide world, my mum, comes to me asking for gentle products that will help with age management, it’s a no-brainer.

Enter, CeraVe’s skin renewing range for firmer, brighter-looking skin.

It’s gentle enough, nourishing enough and easy enough to use.

For context, my mum calls me at least once a week for a skincare routine run-through.

Skincare is confusing, trust me, I get it.

She’s been exclusively using the CeraVe Skin Renewing range for a couple of weeks now.

Keep scrolling for her full review and deep dive into the products in the range.

What Is the CeraVe Skin Renewing Range?

The CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream, CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum and CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum are targeted treatments tailored to address signs of premature ageing skin concerns.

These little gems can easily be slipped into your existing skincare routine or used on their own.

Unlike other cosmeceutical treatments, CeraVe serums are formulated to be potent but still gentle, making them suitable for sensitised skin of all ages and genders.

All three products in the Skin Renewing range share the fundamental base ingredients found in every CeraVe product:

  • Three essential ceramides: replenish skin lipid levels, safeguard against dehydration and external aggressors, fortify the skin barrier and contribute to smoother, softer skin.

  • Hyaluronic acid: the iconic humectant that attracts and retains moisture in the skin’s layers.

  • CeraVe's patented MultiVesicular Technology [MVE]: uses a delivery system that continuously releases moisturising ingredients, ensuring 24-hour hydration.

Before we dive into my mum's reviews, here's some context: she's in her fifties and has sensitive skin that's oily but does get dry and tight now that she's getting older.

Now, let’s get into the reviews, shall we?

1. CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum.

What: CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum

Fast facts:

  • CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum is a slow-release retinol serum specially formulated for sensitive skin.

  • The encapsulated retinol is designed to deliver the potent vitamin A derivative deeper into the skin, without the typical side effects of retinol.

  • This serum targets fine lines and wrinkles and stimulates the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid production.

  • It also contains antioxidants and chicory root which have anti-inflammatory properties, along with niacinamide to reinforce the skin barrier.

How to use the CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum:

Apply no more than one pump onto cleansed skin in the evening.

Unlike other retinol formulas, this serum doesn't cause a tingling sensation.

For added comfort, especially for those with drier skin, you can layer the CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream on top.

If you're new to retinol, start by applying every second or third night.

With consistent use, you can gradually increase the frequency to nightly.

Don’t forget to pop on your sunscreen in the morning.

Mum's review:

Mum’s skin sits more on the sensitive side.

I’ve previously given her retinol which made her wake up with very sore skin (sorry mum), but she’s quite impressed with the Skin Renewing Retinol Serum.

She says it has a light creamy texture and can easily be applied to the skin, and since it isn’t thick, you’re not tempted to use a lot of it.

She applies it to clean dry skin at night.

2. CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum.

What: CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum

Fast facts:

  • CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum has a lotion-like consistency with a lightweight texture that absorbs straight into the skin.

  • Infused with 10% pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid), the most potent form of vitamin C, it visibly enhances skin tone while reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.

  • Vitamin B5, also known as panthenol, fortifies the skin barrier, providing nourishment, and soothing dry, sensitive skin.

  • Packaged in an aluminium tube with a nozzle, this design is great for preserving the product's efficacy.

How to use the CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum:

Vitamin C is best in the morning.

Apply a pea-sized amount to dry skin after cleansing (or after a splash of water on your face), and layer it on top of a hydrating serum if preferred.

Follow up with moisturiser if your skin needs it, or if you’re oily like me just your SPF over the top works perfectly.

Mum’s review:

Knowing my mum, I can easily tell that this is her favourite vitamin C.

The tube makes it that much easier to use, it has a light lotion, gel-like consistency, and she’s surprised that it has absolutely no scent.

Gorgeous under moisturiser and makeup.

3. CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream.

What: CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream

Fast facts:

  • CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream is a balm-textured age management cream designed for hydration and moisturisation, ideally used as the final step in your nighttime skincare routine.

  • Is CeraVe Skin Renewing night cream safe for pregnancy? Absolutely, as it doesn’t contain vitamin A!

  • Instead, the formula features acetyl tetrapeptide-9, a small-chain peptide that aids in promoting collagen synthesis.

  • We also have the trustworthy niacinamide (vitamin B3), which soothes the skin with its anti-inflammatory properties and works to refine skin tone and texture.

How to use the CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream:

If you think this contains retinol, you wouldn’t be the only one - but, surprisingly, it doesn’t!

While many retinol products are packaged in purple, it's crucial to clarify that this is not a retinol night cream.

It is formulated with acetyl tetrapeptide-9 instead which assists in the production of collagen.

The recommendation to apply it at night stems from its rich balm texture.

Mum’s review:

The perfect nighttime moisturiser, rich, balmy and ultra-nourishing.

Both providing and locking in hydration.

Mum says it actually feels like an ultra-luxe cream.

You could layer any type of serum under this and if you exfoliate, it will literally make your skin feel like butter.

Final Verdict.

If you haven’t gathered, yes, I am writing this article for my mum.

Has she called me in the last few weeks to ask me what product goes in which order? No.

She adores the CeraVe Skin Renewing range.

It's simple but effective and works well with other skin treatments she gets.

She does note that she loves a good fragranced product but like I’ve told her time and time again, it’s a good thing when your skin products have none of that.

If you're looking for something foolproof that will work, add CeraVe’s Skin Renewing range to cart.
