DIOR Sauvage: More Than Just a Scent, but the Routine Taking Over My Shower!

Sauvage - the name has now long been associated with DIOR and what’s more, Parisian chic!

Meaning wild or untamed, Sauvage has quickly become a global icon.

As the self-proclaimed Luxury Correspondent for Adore, it’s only natural that I volunteered to road-test the full Sauvage collection - more than just fragrance, the collection now covers skincare and body products.

Scented extensions of renowned fragrances (otherwise known as extra products in the fragrance collection) have been a thing in beauty for years.

Typically, if you love the fragrance, it’s easy enough to add on a body lotion or shower gel.

I won’t lie, these aren’t usually at the top of my list as they always feel… well… a bit lacklustre. So call me dubious when the DIOR delivery arrived.

Spoiler alert: these bougie products are quickly climbing to the top of the list in my next Adore staff order.

Read on to discover why this iconic scent is now all over my bathroom!

DIOR Sauvage Fragrances.

Sauvage as we know it was born from a decades-old fragrance called Eau Sauvage - possibly something you remember seeing on your dad’s bedside cabinet.

Since 2015, Sauvage has topped best-selling fragrance lists and you’ve likely smelled it before.

I find it’s always my go-to date night fragrance as I feel ultra sexy wearing it. You need that sort of confidence on a first date, I say!

The fragrance itself is a distant cousin to its namesake, with some similar aromas.

For all of us non-perfumers, it really is a stark contrast with top notes of pepper and Calabrian bergamot with lavender, vetiver and patchouli in the heart, rounding out with cedar in the base.

All of this translates to a light yet sensual fragrance that sweeps easily between day and night, date night and a night out on the town.

As you move through the scents from EDT to EDP, Parfum and Elixir, you’ll find an aroma that climbs in intensity and quite frankly, gets sexier and more sensual.

My advice here is to go for the DIOR Sauvage Parfum 100ml or the DIOR Sauvage Elixir 100ml if you like a headier or heavier scent that lingers.

The DIOR Sauvage Eau de Toilette 100ml and the DIOR Sauvage Eau de Parfum 100ml are both lighter, perfect for a day at the office or a summer night out - they’re not overpowering and will surely see many compliments paid.

Above all else, these bottles are stunning and are sure to impress on looks alone.

If you’re obsessed with packaging like me, you will also appreciate the magnetic cap on all Sauvage fragrances.

This simple addition is actually sooo good - no more incidents of your bag smelling like a garden after being doused in fragrance from the cap falling off in your bag.

In more recent years, the Sauvage collection has expanded to products beyond just fragrance or cologne and now includes a shaving gel, shower gel, cleansers and more.

Let’s take a closer look.

DIOR Sauvage Cleanser & Face Mask.

What: DIOR Sauvage Cleanser & Face Mask 120ml

I know what you’re thinking - a fragranced cleanser… really? But, YES!!

Much to my surprise, I have quickly found myself reaching for the DIOR Sauvage Cleanser & Face Mask multiple times - more so as my second cleanse.

Made with natural ingredients such as cactus extract, any thoughts of potentially drying out or tightening the skin are quickly gone. Rather, this is a purifying but hydrating cleanser that leaves the skin feeling clean yet soft.

Sensitive skin? I would also recommend this - it doesn’t sting or irritate as you might expect.

It really has been born as a cleanser first, with the fragrance being a wonderful addition.

You’ll find it works just as well with beards as it does without.

Plus, it looks bloody great in the shower.

DIOR Sauvage Scented Shower Gel.

What: DIOR Sauvage Scented Shower Gel 250ml

Carrying on with natural origins, the DIOR Sauvage Shower Gel carries the experience from face to body.

Once again, no overpowering aroma here, but rather a subtle scent on the skin from the clear gel that foams.

When I say the shower steams with scent, I am not lying - it’s truly relaxing.

DIOR Sauvage Deodorant Spray.

What: DIOR Sauvage Deodorant Spray 150ml

One of the more unique products in the collection is the DIOR Sauvage Spray Deodorant.

I was expecting a spray can, possibly even with a slight sting considering I can be quite sensitive to deodorants.

This is a liquid though that sprays gently onto the skin, providing both sweat protection but also another layer of Sauvage (before the final fragrance).

This definitely isn’t your supermarket deo stick and provides a certain joie de vivre.

I would suggest letting it dry well before getting dressed though and definitely don’t do the lift-of-the-tee-and-spray motion!!

P.S. There is a deodorant stick too if that’s more your jam. Find it here.

DIOR Sauvage Moisturiser For Face & Beard.

What: DIOR Sauvage Face and Beard Moisturizer 75ml

To round out my routine, the DIOR Sauvage Face and Beard Moisturiser comes in.

This is what I would call a perfect everyday moisturiser for the gent that doesn’t need much.

Quick absorption, non-sticky and super lightweight, this gel-like texture goes over beards, five o’clock shadows and clean shaven.

We can be honest, it’s probably not going to drive groundbreaking results - but for the guy that uses a good skin-changing serum, this is a great moisturiser to use morning and night.

What’s pretty cool too is the matte finish - no high shine here.

Outside of these must-haves, the collection also includes a full shaving range including:

Final Verdict.

So what’s the final verdict? Yes! Yes! Yes! Add this to cart!

This is a beautiful collection of products for the stylish guy in your life.

They really aren’t just the dreaded Christmas set extras that live in the back of the bathroom cupboard. These are products that have been made with purpose - to provide a skincare and body routine that do more than just scent the skin.

If the look of them isn’t enough to tempt you, then take my word for it that the products do cleanse and hydrate.

Plus, I like to think they were made for me - navy is my trademark colour after all!

A couple of products from the range would also make the perfect gift for that special someone - I would highly recommend the EDT, the cleanser and the shower gel as a bit of a winning trio.

Bougie? Yes! Regrets? None!
