Isn’t a flashy product by any means, but it has the ingredients.
Housed in a dark brown, UV-protected bottle, this fragrance-free serum is dispensed via dropper. Although it’s not oil-based, the initial texture is that of a lightweight oil (the second ingredient, propanediol, can cause this feeling), though it absorbs quickly into skin. The formula’s non-greasy finish leaves skin feeling instantly softer and smoother.
As advertised, this contains a good amount of conditioning panthenol, which helps improve the look and feel of skin thanks to its ability to help skin attract and retain moisture.
Backing up the panthenol is a host of amino acids (hence this product’s name), each of which have water-binding properties, and some of which function as antioxidants as well. If you’re not currently using a product with amino acids and are curious to see what they can do for skin, this is a good, inexpensive add-on to your routine.
What about the desquamation claim? That’s another word for exfoliation. There is some research showing that amino acids can aid skin in its natural shedding of dead cells, but the result is more of a gradual process, and not as dramatic as you'd experience using a leave-on chemical (AHA or BHA) exfoliant.
Long story short: this will be able to help skin’s moisture barrier by aiding in keeping it supple and hydrated. It’s a product that gives you exactly what it claims, which we’re always happy to see!
