Most Helpful Positive

Best moisturiser

Sukh

Best thing I can use it under makeup it keeps skin hydrated.

Most Helpful Criticism

A bit heavy

Teasa

Quite a thick consistency for me. Love how it leaves my skin looking like its dewy when I'm make up free, but it doesn't work well under my make up after a full day.
  1. Best moisturiser

    Sukh

Best thing I can use it under makeup it keeps skin hydrated.
  2. Good

    Tia

I have oily skin and I liked this sunscreen but it does not look the best on my skin compared to my fav sunscreen but it is still good
  3. perfect spa

    elisefrwrd

I love using this with the moisture defence in themornings, a perfect pair together. This product is thick but it glides on the skin so nicely and feels cooling on the skin.
  4. Too heavy for daily application

    Lilyk

I bought this a while ago, and was hoping it would be the answer to my SPF prayers. But, it is too thick for a daily application, especially with additional moisturisers and serums that I use daily.
My skin is normal to dry, so maybe it is better for someone who has quite dry skin ? Ultimately, I wouldn't buy again - especially when there are lighter sunscreen serums/ products now available...

  5. Love it

    Gen

Absolutely love this SPF, it’s nice and thick which I like because I have dry skin. After sinking in I feel that it leaves a nice sheen to the skin like a nice glow. I use it with a moisturiser underneath and feel hydrated and protected all day.
  6. Quite thick

    Stargazer

This one is quite thick and does not apply well. Might be more suitable for someone with dry skin who need extra moisturising benefits with spf.
  7. my favourite face sunscreen

    Spoons

My skin is early 40s, dry, hormonal, I have struggled to find a facial sunscreen that doesn't leave a white layer on my face, AND doesn't block my pores AND actually works as a sunscreen even after swimming, hot days, exercise etc.
This is the first sunscreen I've tried that actually ticks all 3 boxes.
I got it in the starter kit and i love it, will definitely buy again.

  8. Great to use as a primer for makeup

    Bridgethb

I use this as my last step in the mornings before I apply my makeup and it works great as a primer. It took me a little while to get use to the consistency but I love how nourishing this product is. I also love that it has high spf and I use it as my daily sunscreen for my face. I haven’t had any issues with my face getting sunburnt since using this product which I did have occur quite a lot befor...

  9. thick, not for under makeup

    jogl1985

this is very thick and greasy. i think it breaks me out too..but all sunscreens do unfortunately still searching for one that doesnt.
  10. Not great for darker skin tones

    Lee

I have a medium to tan skin tone and this leaves a purple cast on me, and it’s quite thick in consistency which I don’t mind but it may bother some. It’s ok, but the purple cast is a pretty big downside for me.
  11. Best sunscreen

    Cherry12

I have combination acne prone skin so all sunscreen break me out or is drying. This sunscreen feels like normal sunscreen and whitens my face like sunscreen (I have Indian brown skin) however it moisturises well and my skin doesn’t dry out or get too oily.
I don’t break out too. It’ll be nice in a bigger tube as it’s costly and I can use it for my body. It because it’s small and expensive ...

White cast. Too thick. Greasy. Sticky. Perfect for someone who who has dry skin.
  13. Decent Product

    Hannah

I find that it does really work for my skin but the texture is very thick and might not be the best choice if you have really oily skin.

I put on a light moisturiser first, though and then put on the sunscreen.
It helps it go on more easily without that tough, thick texture that it kind of has.

Otherwise, it protects my skin really well and sits underneath makeup n...

  14. Apply daily as part of my skincare regimen as wrinkle preventative

    Donna

I was recommended this product by a skin specialist and decided to use it when overseas in Bali. I have very fair, sensitive skin and I’m not usually keen on wearing facial sunscreen as they are often heavy and greasy. I applied this sunscreen to my face and neck, every morning. On days when I was wearing makeup, it acted like a primer and I applied the sunscreen after my moisturizer. My makeup sa...

  15. Not great for oily skin

    Bec

Quite a thick, zinc like product which didn't go so well with my oily and acne-prone skin. Did not break me out but definitely needed to be used sparingly on the face. Otherwise, it is an affordable high SPF for the face and had no concerns with its use under makeup.
  16. My favourite sunscreen ever

    Joel

I’m very happy with this as I’ve always struggled with sunscreen clogging my skin. This does a great job at protecting me and helping my acne. Great spf product and I will forever use this!
  17. A bit heavy

    Teasa

Quite a thick consistency for me. Love how it leaves my skin looking like its dewy when I'm make up free, but it doesn't work well under my make up after a full day.
  18. Nope!

    Jinaya

Far too heavy, thick and greasy for my oily combo skin. I hate wasting product but just can’t bring myself to use it past the two applications. Do not recommend if you are after a light weight, absorbing formula.
  19. Nope!

    Jinaya

Far too heavy, thick and greasy for my oily combo skin. I hate wasting product but just can’t bring myself to use it past the two applications. Do not recommend if you are after a light weight, absorbing formula.
  20. Too thick

    Kymoi88

Sorry to say I didn’t like this at all . I have acne prone skin and this is definitely a no go. Feels very thick. If you do use it it would be best to pat onto the skin. Wouldn’t recommend for oily skin type
  21. My daily

    Krust

Does not leave skin feeling oily or greasy. Great product to apply before makeup. I use this product daily and highly recommend.
  22. Everyday must have

    Leelee

I love this product, I work outdoors and I use this daily. It has really helped protect my skin and prevent more pigmentation. In summer it is my daytime moisturiser in winter I apply over the top of my age defence.
  23. A reliable cream for sun protection

    Charlotte

Can be used underneath make up or just on its own if you’re going to be exposed to sunlight. We all know the sun can rapidly age skin so I recommend you carry this with you if you’re not wearing make up often and are exposing your face to the sun often. The consistency is very much like a sun block and has the same lasting effect. I haven’t been burnt once since using this cream which is why I con...

  24. Very thick but feels protective

    Elle

This product I find I have to put on a face oil or moisturizer first so that it goes on easier. It is quite chalky feeling and very thick. I have to pat it on very thinly and try to spread it which takes a long time. It looks very greasy for the first hour but settles into a fairly matte finish after a while
  25. TOO THICK.

    SOC

I really wanted to like this product as Skinstitut has a range of affordable yet great products,

I just found it to be SUPER thick and didn't like the way it sat under my make-up (made me extra oily)

I feel there are so many other sunscreens on the market that do a far better job than this one.
  26. Really good

    Ebony

I really love this SPF. It doesn’t feel or smell as strong as normal sunscreen. It’s not greasy or sticky. It goes well under makeup. I have oily/combo acne prone skin and it doesn’t cause any breakouts
  27. Too thick and greasy

    Chai

I love skinstitut products but this sunscreen was not what I was expecting. Sure it worked, I didn’t get sunburnt however it’s so incredibly think and oily even a small amount just sat on my skin attracting dirt and anything else in the air. It did no sink into my skin at all and being so oily I found that after a few short hours of wearing it my pores were clogging and I was breaking out in white...

  28. Amazing

    Yun

This sunscreen is great for combination skin. It’s not too greasy and sticky. Definitely recommend.
  29. Not for sensitive skin

    Jess

I absolutely LOVE Skinstitut products, but for my skin this product was to sensitive to. The SPF50+ is great for those out in the sun! But I found it flared up my eczema.
  30. Good protection!

    Camila

This brand is reliable and gives good results. Perfect product to use on the beach. It is water resistant and does not have that shiny aspect of other solar sunscreens. I do not recommend it for daily use or under the makeup, personally I think it's a bit heavy for that, because its texture is dense.
  31. Good quality

    Kyles

Great sunscreen for sensitive skin, feels nice but struggled trying to put makeup over the top, felt a little thick. I would certainly recommend it as a good quality sunscreen though.
  32. Great formula

    Chelsea

Formula is great for my combination skin and it stayed on after swimming and/or sweating. Did need to re apply more frequently though
  33. Great protection!

    Curlygurl

I have really fair/sensitive skin so found it hard to find a 50+ sunscreen that wasn't oily. The sunscreen is very thick, however you don't need much. I also love that it's waterproof. Highly recommend primer if wearing under foundation but otherwise is great!
  34. Too thick

    Lucy

Although this product did protect me from the sun I found it way too thick and cakey, it also left a white film over my face and made me break out.
  35. Fabolous

    Huyen

Got a sample of this sunscreen. Had the chance to try it. Skinstitut is a well known brand. My Laser clinic sells these products. I have dry skin. This one is REALLY good. It's water resistant keep my make up in tact. Soft on skin great feeling. Price is good but it's only 2 hours resistant.
  36. Great sunscreen for oily skin

    Sil

Great for my oily skin - not too heavy or greasy., Perfect for applying under foundation.
  37. Sun lover

    Chanelle j

Best protection. I use this whenever We go on our boat. Best protection for face and neck.
  38. Finally a lightweight sunscreen that isn't greasy

    Caitlin

Finally a lightweight sunscreen that is SPF50 and applies nicely to the skin without being oily, thick and greasy. This applies so nicely under makeup and I use it everyday. I love it and am so glad I found it. I have been through so many SPF products that claim to be non greasy and lightweight only to be disappointed by how terribly they are on my oily skin and how terrible they look under makeup...

  39. Doesn't sting my skin

    Taryn

I've tried hundreds of 'gentle, non-sting' sunscreens and none of them worked. This is the one sunscreen that has NEVER stung when I've applied it to my skin.

It is a thick cream compared to others but offers great coverage because of this. I have fair skin and have found this the most effective cover that doesn't have to be reapplied constantly.
  40. Not a fan

    Stacey

I heard good things about this product so I thought I would give it a try (especially to get into better habits to wear sunscreen) but was pretty disappointed. I found it quite thick to put on and left that white sheen, didn't feel very hydrating either. I am now temporarily just using a basic neutrogena hydro boost spf 50 and compared with the skinstitut I actually love it, it's even nice under m...

  41. My everyday sunscreen

    Angelique

This sunscreen is very effective. I use it everyday and have never gotten sunburnt. I also love the creamy texture.
  42. doesn't break me out

    Brittany

I have skin that is prone to breakouts and it is very sensitive to products and often causes breakouts however this product does not break me out it goes on fairly thickly and have to wait a few minutes before my makeup
  43. excelent protection unless you perspire a lot

    salamanda

This sunscreen is easy to apply and lasts well on my skin, when the weather is not too hot.

In the hotter months, when I perspire, it runs down my face. I then need to cleanse my face and reapply.

The product has a lovely feel on my skin and causes no irritation of my sensitive skin.
  44. It’s ok

    Joylo

This is quite a thick sunscreen and leaves a slight white cast. I ended up using it on my neck as I found it too much for my face and prefer something smoother like the supreme screen. I never burnt with it on however for the money I’d rather pay more and get a product that sits comfortably.
  45. Moisturising and works well

    Cha

I like this suncream as it can be used as a moisturiser too. I spent the last week at the beach and my freckles didn't darken with this product smeared on. It takes a little while to sink in and you may need to powder your nose, but all in all, it's a great product, and it works well! Also, it smells nice to put on but it doesn't linger
  46. It works well

    Alexandria

I have acne prone skin and normally have breakouts with many sunscreens, but with this product I didn’t have any aggravated skin at all! It’s a bit thick but very very moisturising. I probably tend to use too much with each reapply but I love the feeling of it on my skin and it doesn’t have a sunscreen odour
  47. Works well.

    Alexandria

This product works well for my acne prone skin. It doesn’t have a strong sunscreen odour which I appreciate. It’s hard finding spf50+ sunscreen that doesn’t aggravate my skin, but this one works great! I find that I reapply a lot just to be safe which means if you are outside a lot it is used quickly.
  48. There are better SPF products

    Phoebe

I was excited to try this SPF50 as I am super pale and forever looking for the perfect SPF product. Unfortunately I did not like it... I felt like the product sat on top of my skin like a film with a milky residue. I am already pale but this made my skin look sickly. So, its not for me.
  49. Great for sensitive, acne prone skin

    Chell

I use this every single day. It is very hard to find a sunscreen that does not break out my sensitive acne-prone skin. It is great for sun protection as it states. I also don't need to use a moisturiser (if you have oily skin) since it provides enough moisture for my skin. It is also great as a make-up primer!!
The only downside for me is after you apply it, it's sticky on your skin the who...

  50. A little bit heavy but great SPF protection

    CrK

Can feel a little heavy/sticky when applying so I tried to only use a little bit (which means a bottle lasts me aaages) but does an amazing job at protecting my skin from sun damage. I recommend it but if you have really oily skin might be best to try something different.
  51. Great SPF

    Jessie

I am prone to breakouts and this sunscreen doesn't cause my skin to produce any blemishes or clog my pores. A little goes a long way too so it's great value! It works great for drier skin. It Can become a little oily in hot weather but can be helped by using less product than in the colder months.
  52. Good but thick

    Madeline

This product is good but it goes on really thick and it feels heavy. I still purchase it but use it as a face sunscreen for the beach instead of an every day sunscreen
  53. I use this everyday!

    Freya

I use this every day for sun protection. I particularly like this one as it isn't as heavy as other brands.
  54. Great product!

    Kyra

Good sunscreen that doesn’t clog pores! I find it is amazing under makeup, however I have to press it on my face as it can make me feel sweaty if rubbed in.
  55. Love My New Skinstitut Age Defence SPF50+

    Chook

I've always looked after my skin with good moisturisers and have only just started using Skinstitut products and I'm so happy I have. I'm having laser to lighten my horrible age spots and my dermatologist insisted I use SPF50+Broad Spectrum on my face. I hate most SPF creams because they smell horrible - especially having to wear it on my face; but this product is beautiful. I mix my SPF50+ with S...

I have oiled and acne prone skin, this is quite an oily mixture so really didnt help with my acne, and made my skin look and feel greasy. Would be good for dry skin.
  57. Daily use

    Lisa

I have acne prone skin and this sunscreen didn’t break me out. I use this every morning and it works well for me. The texture is medium but the moment I apply on my skin it’s gone. I love the smell as well. Definitely repurchase.
  58. Maybe

    Sarah

I love this sunscreen although I feel like it is a little more oily for my oily skin and I get greasy easily
  59. Intense purple cast on medium-deep skin tones

    SS15

This sunscreen is so thick and uncomfortable to wear under makeup, but my major issue is that it leaves a crazy purple cast on my medium-dark skin tone. I found that I had to wear full coverage foundation when using this sunscreen because the purple cast was so bad.
  60. LOVE

    cindy

I use this everyday! it is such a treat for my skin and i feel like i am protecting it very well
  61. The best sunscreen

    Raki

This is the best sunscreen ever and , trust me, I tried so many!!! Perfect for my sensitive dry skin, it leaves my skin soft and well repaired. Nice smell, great texture for sunscreen: thick but not too much and very easy to massage in the face and neck
  62. Good facial sunscreen

    Leisa

Goes on beautifully. Feels nice. Good coverage. A good staple sunscreen that isn’t a chore to apply.
  63. Great for break out prone skin

    Annie

This sunscreen is good for breakout prone skin. It can leave skin a bit shiny/dewy, but if you like that like I do then this is perfect. Goes great under make up and can help reduce some redness too.
  64. Love it

    Jia

I have combination skin type. This sunscreen is amazing. It’s not thick and non-greasy. Doesn’t make my face feels suffocated. It is good for everyday use. Highly recommend.
  65. Too thick to be used as everyday sunscreen/moisturiser

    kristina

This product is not a moisturising sunscreen and it is definitely to thick and chalky for a work day. I would use it for days at the beach, in the garden or in my bike. I need a sunscreen that can double as everyday moisturiser and sunscreen. Save your money and buy one from the supermarket or chemist
  66. Love It

    Haylee

I use this everyday and love how it feels on my skin, I even stopped wearing makeup as I love the glowy look this gives my face on it's own!
  67. Easy to apply

    Carla

This products absorbs very well and is great under makeup. I bought it thinking it was a moisturiser with sunscreen but it's just a sunscreen. However it would be great in summer and it certainly doesn't leave your skin with a white film! Skinstitut products have all proven very cost effective and certainly of a good quality.
  68. Summer primer

    BG

I love this spf I have sensitive skin, in summer I use it as a primer and it does not shine keeps the face hydrating, non grease and easy to blend
  69. Good for combination skin

    Kylie

Good as an everyday moisturizer, as it has an SPF. Did make my skin abit oily, that would be the only down side. I use the regular moisturizer daily and it doesnt have the same effect on my skin.
  70. Not for me

    Kate

I have combination skin. I found this product quite thick and heavy and it had a strange smell. I’d imagine it would be better for someone with drier skin.
  71. Amazing product

    Catherine

I have oily/combination skin type. This product works really well for me as it is light weighted and does not leave any white marks on my face. It does takes a while to absorb however once it is absorbed, you don’t feel anything on the face. It works well for sensitive skin as well. I love it so much and will definitely repurchase it.
  72. Best sunscreen with the best ingredients

    Anonymous

You may think it is thick but it's easy to apply, and it's not oily at all. It provides the no.1 active ingredients so far in the market from my personal opinion.
  73. Very thick

    Tatiana

My experience says that a moisturizer and sun screen protection should not be put together in to the same cream, it leaves a thick white layer on your face and takes a while to be absorbed. Won't buy it again...
  74. best SPF

    mani

it suited my skin so well. i have oily skin therefore i just apply a pea sized amount and it is enough for the entire day. i cannot imagine my life without it now. it does gives a whitish glare so you have to make sure you blend it well onto your skin.
  75. Excellent.

    Cass

I’ve just started to use Skinstitut that was recommended to me by a close friend & i am glad! Light weight on skin, dose not feel like you are even wearing the Age Defence SPF50+ once applied & absorbed. I love it!
  76. Favourite sunscreen

    Sharni

Love this product! Easy to apply and doesn't leave white marks on skin
  77. Best sunscreen I've found

    Jade

I'm always hesitant when it comes to sunscreen but this product is fantastic. It's not oily and it's thick so I know it's going to protect my skin. For best application pat/ press into the skin. Haven't been burnt since I started using this product which is great
  78. Skin Saver

    Alison

As someone who is obsessed with sun safety, this product is amazing. I've got really fair and sensitive skin and I use this 50+ every day. It might seem to leave a white hue on your skin but your skin quickly absorbs it and it's a really great makeup primer. I love the Skinstitut range as they're developed in Australia and can handle the Australian sun. My skin loves it!
  79. Alright

    Tayla

Good for protection and use when not wearing a lot of makeup. Makes your skin glow as well and look quite healthy which is nice.
  80. thick and oily

    Lauren

It is better than standard sunblock but leaves my skin oily and is quite heavy, since it is waterproof I will be keeping it for summer beach days but I wont use it for an everyday sunblock.
  81. Good protection

    Sarah

I love how much protection this gives, I can be sure my skin is getting no sun damage. However the texture I am unsure about. I wouldn’t say it is easy to put on but once it is on, sits nicely on the skin. Overall, pretty happy with this product but unsure if I would repurchase.
  82. Skinstitut SPF50 - Great daily sunscreen

    Polly

Very good sunscreen, I apply it after the skinstitut moisturizer in the morning. I don't find it too thick at all, goes on nicely and has a good texture. Dries quickly. No sunscreen smell and doesn't make the skin oily. Good value for money when considering similar products.
  83. Very thick

    Kate

I bought this to wear under make up but I find it too thick. It's fine for normal day use though.
  84. Good sun protection but makes me break out

    Jessica

I have dry, sensitive, breakout prone skin and this sunscreen makes me break out but very sunscreen seems to do this? I only wear it on days that’s I al going to be outside for an extended period because of this. Sun protection seems to last well when I only put it on in the morning and forget to reapply.
  85. Great SPF

    Tanja

I love this SPF! The ingredients are great being broad spectrum, both chemical and physical protection provided. The key to this product is allowing for it to sit on the skin before other products or makeup go on. It almost sets down in a lovely way and the skin is good-to-go!!
  86. Great sun protection but too claggy

    Sally

Sad to write this review because i normally love Skinstitut. Age Defence SPF is thick and claggy, doesn't spread well, makes my whole face shiney. I wouldn't use this product unless I was doing outdoor sports (it's great UV protection but my combination skin can't handle the pore-clogging greasiness especially under make-up)

I think Skinstitut should make moisturisers with built-in ...

  87. Great product

    Christina

I use this every morning after my Skinstitut Ultra Dry moisturiser and I love it.

I only need a tiny amount (so my tube has lasted ages) and it doesn't irritate my skin.
  88. Fantastic!

    Brig

Simply rub into your hands and then press onto face and neck, sun protection and moisturiser in one. I have been out in sun and never felt like my skin is being damaged. Highly recommend!
  89. Love it!

    Wen

I have mature skin and many products were irritating my skin. From the first time I used this product I haven't had any problems and my skin loves the moisture and protection. Definitely recommend.
  90. Perfect SPF50+ for sensitive skin

    Jaimie

I use this every morning after the Skinstitut moisturiser and I love it. Unlike other sunscreens this doesn't irritate my sensitive skin and doesn't burn around my eyes. 1 bottle has lasted a decent period of time and is great value. I also love that this is SPF 50+
  91. Good spf

    Abbie

This sunscreen is thick when it first comes out the tube but it spreads around the skin very easily so it feels more light weight.
The spf 50 is what caught my eye and looking for a sunscreen in a skin care range that doesnt make me break out. This one is good for that!
It does feel a bit oily when you put it on, but after about 10 mins it dries enough to apply make up on top.
  92. Love

    Charlotte

Love this moisturiser so much! Ultra rich and very moisturising
  93. Best moisturiser!

    Emily

This is by far my favourite moisturiser of all time, it isn't just a moisturiser it contains SPF 50+ in a non greasy formula eliminating the need to add another product into my already full regime. I have oily combination skin and this never gets greasy or seperates and acts as a really good primer for foundation. Highly recommended this to all skin types!!
  94. Finally! A light facial sunscreen!

    Ash

Finally, after many 50+ Sunscreen trials I have found THE ONE that doesn't make me feel like I'm swimming in a bucket of oil! It's so smooth and lightweight on.

    **TIP**
Mixed in with a little laser aid does the trick to spread and thin a little further as I found on it's own it can be a little thick if you use too much.
