How to Take Care of Sun Damaged Skin with Aesthetics Rx Skincare

My biggest beauty regret is not having worn sunscreen every day.

It’s only when you get to a certain age that the true collagen damage and pigment problems really start to show up.

I am pedantically consistent with this regime because it manages my pigment and skin issues I have with sun damage and oxidative stress.

I love that this skincare routine for pigmentation is quick and easy. I am always running, so I definitely do not do complicated!

Of all the skincare I have used over my 20+ year career in the industry this is honestly the most effective at tackling sun damage on the face.

How to take care of sun damaged skin (morning routine)

Step 1: Start with a revitalising cleanse

I use the Aesthetics Rx Revitalising Foaming Cleanser morning. I love that it does not contain any SLS or parabens and the surfactant in the formula is derived from coconut.

It has a very high percentage of Aloe Vera Juice for hydration plus Vitamin B5 Panthenol for additional moisture and skin strengthening properties.

Step 2: The master antioxidant

The first serum I layer in the morning is the Aesthetics Rx C Serum 23%. It’s loaded with 23% Vitamin C, plus it is supported with Ferulic acid, Vitamin E, and Hyaluronic acid. Together the C, E and Ferulic acid are like a master antioxidant.

This skin care product for sun damage also helps keep my pigment under control with its Tyrosinase inhibiting action and it targets premature skin ageing with its collagen stimulating effect and antioxidant potency.

Step 3: Brightening B serum

I then layer on the Aesthetics Rx B Serum, which is rich in Niacinamide, Panthenol, Hyaluronic acid and Sodium PCA. Some of these ingredients are derived from biotechnology for their consistently high quality, sustainability and efficacy, including varying molecular weights that target specific areas of the skin. Plus they are bioidentical, immediately recognised by the skin and instantly effective.

On the days I am in the yoga studio I can actually finish with this step. It's so intensely hydrating that I find I can do without my moisturiser those days when I am sweating out my yoga practice.

Step 4: Daily moisture boost

The final product I use during the day is the Aesthetics Rx Daily Moisturiser Hydrating. I love this because it contains an SPF15, so it's good for incidental sun exposure*. Plus, I’m obsessed with the essential oil scent.

*Hot Tip: To give the best care when treating sun damaged skin pigmentation, it's also important to make sure you're protecting your skin from any further sun damage with an SPF* of at least 30. Give Aesthetics Rx Sunscreen with Zinc SPF30 a try, or check out some of our Sunscreens Recommended by Our Favourite Skincare Experts. Also, its important to remember, sunscreen is only one part of sun protection, prolonged high-risk sun exposure should be avoided and frequent re-application or use in accordance with directions is required for effective sun protection

How to take care of sun damaged skin (night routine)

Step 1: Evening cleanse

Cleanse your skin in the evening with the Aesthetics Rx Revitalising Foaming Cleanser again, to break down oil, dirt and makeup. I love the subtle scent of essential oils in this cleanser, and the texture is like jelly, so sensorially, it is so good!

This step is more of a pleasure part of the regime because it feels indulgent in terms of the texture and smell. There's no artificial colours or fragrance though - it's super natural (get it).

Step 2: The ultimate glow

At night, I swap out my day serums for the Aesthetics Rx Ultimate Serum 30ml. This really is the ultimate multitasker, and I am literally obsessed. I can't bear the thought of running out so I have to have 3 in my bathroom always! It contains a combination of AHA’s & BHA’S to smooth and exfoliate plus it has a brightening action which I have found has significantly improved my hyperpigmentation. This product gives my skin an instant glow.

Bonus Step: Get out your derma roller

Three times a week I use Aesthetics Rx Derma Roller. This improves the performance of my serums and the overall results of my regime by increasing product absorption thanks to the micro channels the 0.25mm (safe) needles create in the skin.

*SPF is only one part of sun protection! Always seek shade, and wear sunnies, a hat and protective clothing. Use sufficient sunscreen for all unprotected areas and reapply sunscreen as directed. Always read the label.
