Long-lasting vanilla laced with tobacco
If you're a fiend for Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille like I am, you will love this. Ignore that this is a men's fragrance, it's universally beautiful and it seems to sit wonderfully well on everyone that I've sprayed this on.

I must admit, I've never bought Tobacco Vanille because though I love the smell, I don't love that it doesn't last more than 2 hrs on my skin, and it always smelled more like a faintly smokey vanilla rather than what I wanted it to be.

Parfums de Marly Herod is not just similar, I would say it's better. For one thing, it lasts all day, and for another thing the value for money is far superior because you're getting more than double the volume for the same price.

In terms of smell I can't say that they're one and the same - the vanilla in Herod is sweetened a touch by the green qualities to this tobacco, and the dry-down is much more smoked. On my skin, the vanilla runs not-quite gourmand but still very inviting, and really it is difficult to not continue smelling my wrists throughout the day. What you end up with is something more complex and fresh, and I am addicted to this.
  1. evocative

very interesting evocative fragrance. It's pretty smokey but sweet with notes of vanilla and floral notes of patchouli.
  2. Good

It's a beautiful perfume, but I find it to not be long lasting on my skin. I'm not sure if it's olfactory fatigue or something else.. Warm and comforting. Vanilla and tobacco. I could not justify keeping full bottle with the performance issues that I encountered for its price, but scent wise it's excellent and high quality.
