I have extremely fine, thin, oily hair. I started using Nioxin when I experienced a lot of hair fall due to illness. To begin with, it got worse, which was a bit stressful. However, over time, I noticed that even though my hair wasn’t necessarily growing better, it had the appearance of more volume, which made me feel better about myself. My hair just looked better, even though it wasn’t growing back properly. Hair fall is really distressing and if you’re going to try a product like this you need to be aware that the science around hair restoring shampoos is sketchy at best. You need to be realistic with your expectations. You’ll be disappointed if you think you’re going to get luscious, flowing locks from this. Fortunately my hair has stopped falling since I’ve gotten better, but I still use nioxin once or twice a week (because it’s expensive and full of chemicals) as it makes my flat hair look like it has more volume. I personally like the peppermint smell and tingle, but I know some people aren’t into it.
