Better than Basic Beauty Tips:

  • If you’re using a dewy foundation it’s important to use a primer to control your oils and avoid your makeup breaking up throughout the day.

  • When going for a quick, natural look try blending the products in with your fingers instead of using a tonne of different brushes.

  • To make a glowy foundation last all day set it with a powder and an ample mist of the Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray to lock it all in.

Step by Step Makeup Tutorial for Joanna's Natural Daytime Look:

Step 1: Start with a hydrating primer

Step 1: Start with a hydrating primer

Prep and prime the skin using the Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer - GOLD. This will help reduce oiliness throughout the day.

Step 2: Try a glowy, light coverage foundation

Step 2: Try a glowy, light coverage foundation

Pump a small amount of the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat All In One Glow Foundation onto the back of your hand. Then, take the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and apply the foundation to the centre of your face, buffing outwards. Remember to take the foundation down your neck as well.

Step 3: A luminous concealer pen

Step 3: A luminous concealer pen

To keep up with that glowy effect, try using the Clarins Instant Light Brush-On Perfector. Wind up the product and paint the product onto your under eye in brush like strokes, then pat the concealer in with your fingers.

Step 4: Lightly powder

Step 4: Lightly powder

Open up your RCMA No Colour Powder and lightly dip your Real Techniques Setting Brush into the product, then tap the excess into the lid. Lightly pat the powder into your T-zone, just next to the nose and under your eyes. Avoid any areas you would like to keep dewy. This powder deposits no colour, so it blends into the skin seamlessly.

Step 5: Brush up your brows

Step 5: Brush up your brows

For a natural daytime look simply brush up your brows, then set them in place with the Benefit Gimme Brow + Fibre Gel. Brush upwards for voluminous, fluffy brows. This will lift the entire eye area.

Step 6: Bronze with a subtle shimmer

Step 6: Bronze with a subtle shimmer

Use a bronze with a fine shimmer like the M.A.C Cosmetics Bronzing Powder in Refined Gold to give your skin a light bronzy glow. Sweep this on your cheekbones, forehead and jawline with the Angled Contour Brush from the Designer Brands Melodrama 10 Piece Brush Set. Always put a little bit on your nose for a natural sunkissed look.

Step 7: A natural flush

Step 7: A natural flush

Sweep a neutral pink blush like the theBalm downBOY Blush upwards on the tops of your cheekbones concentrating on the apples of your cheeks.

Step 8: Make your eyes pop

Step 8: Make your eyes pop

Define your eyes with the M.A.C Cosmetics Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Groundwork (a mid-tone neutral taupe). This cream-to powder product dries down to a matte finish and can also be used as an eye primer. Use the Deluxe Crease Brush from the Designer Brands Melodrama 10 Piece Brush Set to apply this all over the eye, blending it in softly.

Step 9: Fake a lash lift

Step 9: Fake a lash lift

Lengthen, volumise and separate with the Benefit BADGal Bang Volumising Mascara. Apply to your top lashes and just a little to your bottom lashes. If you've got a lash lift, this mascara work well to add extra volume.

Step 10: The perfect your lips but better shade

Step 10: The perfect your lips but better shade

Apply the Giorgio Armani Ecstasy Shine Lip Cream in shade 101. This lipstick/balm hybrid gives you the perfect glossy pout.

How do I prep my skin for a flawless makeup application?

The key to flawless makeup application is actually a consistent skincare routine with plenty of hydration.

Skin that is well hydrated and smooth is better prepared for makeup application, as the product is less likely to stick to dry patches or break down due to excess oil.

Try clearing and cleansing the skin before starting your makeup routine with a micellar water like the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution 250ml.
