CC Creams VS BB Creams – What’s The Difference?

As we venture into a new phase of beauty which is all about skin, the popularity of BB and CC creams is growing rapidly. But a lot of us are still seemingly confused about what these creams actually do. So let’s walk you through it!

As we venture into a new phase of beauty which is all about skin, the popularity of BB and CC creams is growing rapidly. But a lot of us are still seemingly confused about what these creams actually do. So let’s walk you through it!

BB CREAM

WHAT IS IT?

BB cream stands for Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm. Similar to a tinted moisturiser, it acts as a primermoisturiser and foundation, but with the added benefits of skincare. Most contain SPF, so as well as smoothing your complexion, evening out the tone and providing hydration, it will also protect against sun damage and related signs of ageing.

HOW DO YOU USE IT?

Apply exactly as you would a moisturiser. Make sure that your face is cleansed and dry, then take a small amount and warm it up in your hands before gliding across the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Be sure to blend in well around your hair line and jaw line. BB creams are designed to look like your natural skin, not make-up!

WHAT OUR BEAUTY EDITOR THINKS:

BB cream is ideal for daily use, as it gives the skin a beautiful natural finish, with a bit of a tint. Applying BB cream is a breeze, and if you want a little extra coverage, try dusting your mineral powder over the top – this is what I do for work everyday! Your morning makeup routine is about to get a lot easier…

CC CREAM

WHAT IS IT?

CC cream stands for Colour Correcting. As well as performing that task, it will also cover redness, hide and treat acne, conceal dark spots and add radiance to sallow, dark skin. Oh, and CC creams are also usually bursting with vitamins, antioxidants and other skincare ingredients, too.

HOW DO YOU USE IT?

Just like a BB cream, but focus it more on any problem zones be they pimples, pigmentation or ageing/darkened areas.

WHAT OUR BEAUTY EDITOR THINKS:

CC cream tends to provide a lighter coverage than a BB cream, so I personally think CC creams are great for the summer months. CC creams will illuminate, enhance and even skin tone. Lightweight and long-wearing, CC creams leave your skin looking and feeling smooth flawless. You can apply your CC cream underneath your BB, or mix them together to get the best of both worlds!
