MAC's Studio Fix Fluid is my holy grail and I generally stick to what I know in the foundation department. But I was pleasantly surprised when this foundation landed on my desk (not to mention the colour was a perfect match). It's perfect for everyday wear as my t-zone gets very oily by the end of the day. The velvety, skin-like formula really helps with controlling oil. I'm converted!

Controls oilsGreat for summer - controls oils to create a flawless finish. Stays on all day. Love the tube packaging - easy to use
Great for problematic skinI have regular breakouts and need a full coverage foundation and this foundation is amazing. Can wear a light amount or build for a really good full coverage if required. The only bad thing is the price and runs out quick but SO SO worth it.
Great long wearing foundieI love using this foundation if i know i have a long day as i dont have to worry about this foundation wearing off. But it can look cakey if you put too much. Also, this foundie will get darker when it dries so the colour is not the same with other MUFE foundation. Go lighter when you choose this foundation
Love!I have been using MUFE HD foundation for the last 2 years but thought I'd try the Matte Velvet formula for a change. Wow... I love it! I have oily skin and it definitely keeps the shine at bay but somehow gives me a nice dewy look too. The coverage is great, I'd say medium, and stays put all day/night. The consistency is a bit more gel-like than the HD but I find it still blends really well. I have now converted my sister too!
Not a fan!Bought this thinking it would be high coverage & perfect for my skin type considering its “matte” finish. I have normal/oily skin and after applying it at 12pm by 3pm I was already looking like the oil you’d slap in the deep fryer to help crispen your fish!
(I also set it with Huda Beauty powder - which I’ve had no problems with prior)

Finally, I'm converted! We are spoiled for choice here at AB HQ but I am particularly fussy about my foundation. Blame it on my combination/oily skin type that renders most foundations an oily slick come the afternoon (and that's not even when I'm outside in the elements!). I'm a liquid, long-wearing fan and have been convinced I found my holy grail foundation years ago BUT enter the new MUFE Matte Velvet Skin Liquid Foundation. It's a DREAM and now my go-to, favourite foundation ever. The texture is velvety (surprise!) and application is easily blend-able but does feel a little powdery on initial contact. It melts into a beautiful finish that sees me matte and shine-free all day without that cakey look that often comes from foundations with this benefit. I really like the no-mess tube format too that helps with managing how much you use without wastage. MUFE can be so underrated and this one has me a fan for life.
Just like skin?!I'm the type of person who tends to err on the side of tinted moisturiser, but you know, sometimes even hermits like me have to leave the house and go places - and tinted moisturiser doesn't always cut it with a deep lip, you know?
That said, I don't want to look like I'm wearing a mask, and I don't want something that looks like makeup either.
I used to use full coverage products all the time, especially to hide my breakouts etc. Since my skin got better I've erred on the side of less is more, but I can definitely still spot an excellent matte liquid foundation.
This has an almost mousse like texture, though doesn't feel thick, or look thick. It definitely controls oil, as I didn't need to set my t-zone. That said, when I wear a dewy primer underneath this, that dewy texture comes through a little bit too which is nice - it means you can be strategic about where you want your dew.
The best part for me is that this doesn't highlight any dry areas, which is 100% what I was expecting from this. It also doesn't have an alcoholic/drying feel at all.
All in all, I wouldn't wear this every day but damn does this look great in pictures and the coverage is on point.
A full coverage option that doesn't feel heavy!I'll preface this by saying that normally, I am not a full-coverage kinda gal. I'm all about dewy, sheer coverage, so this was definitely out of my comfort zone - but sometimes a gal needs a bit of coverage, you know? On my dehydrated, drier skin type, I found applying with a beauty sponge gave me full coverage with a chic velvet-like finish, but didn't leave me feeling dry or dehydrated. With a brush it was a little too much for my personal preferences, but that's what experimenting is all about! I also liked mixing this into other MUFE foundations to customise the "fit" of the foundation - my own foundation wardrobe!
So pleasantly surprised!I'm somebody who never usually goes anywhere near foundations that mention the word 'matte' so I was seriously shocked when I actually liked this on my skin! I have normal-dry skin but love to load up on moisturisers and illuminating products to bring some life to my dry skin.
When I applied this to my face I was shocked at how lightweight it looked and the fact that it didn't cling to any dry areas. I have played around with it a bit and find that on it's own without an illuminating product underneath it's a little too matte for my liking (but still looks good!) so my favourite way to wear it is layered over or mixed with an illuminating primer. I've found myself reaching for it quite often because of how long it wears in the heat we've been having lately and how easy it is for travel due to the packaging.
I'd definitely recommend this to oily skin types and even to those with normal-dry skin who are like me and enjoy layering and mixing products to get your desired finish. :)
*****Though this foundation is full coverage it feels weightless on the skin and comfortable to wear all day. It will smooth and covers any blemishes or imperfections on the skin. The velvet finish is more complimentary on my dehydration/oily skin, rather than just a straight matte finish. This is my current favourite foundation!
My new holy grail foundationFinally my long search is over. After being a loyal Studio Fix Fluid fan for years, as my skin got older I found it less flattering and started looking for something else.
I love the tones in Make Up For Ever foundations and I wanted to love the Ultra HD but as someone with very oily skin, it was just too dewy for me. Enter Matte Velvet!
As soon as I put this on I could tell it was different. The product is so blendable, buildable but still extremely comfortable (my problem with Double Wear). Where other foundations tend to get patchy near my jawbone, this formula is even. Its got decent staying power too, and the finish for me is a matte that doesn't look cakey at all, which is a relief. I love love love this foundation and can safely clear my shelf of all the other failed attempts.
