So, master the art of voluminous waves with these top techniques and much loved Adore Beauty favourites.

Heat Styling Tips:

  • Always use a heat protectant, especially if you have dry, damaged or bleached hair.

  • When you have long hair it can be really helpful to section your hair to make it more manageable when styling.

  • If you missed any shorter, stray bits while styling you can go back in to give them shape.

  • Leave the top part of your hair clipped up and sectioned for a fun half up-do.

How do I get beach waves with a straightener?

Achieving beachy waves with a straightener comes down to using the right techniques and tools.

In this routine Marie uses a wide straightener like the CLOUD NINE The Wide Iron to keep her waves soft and flowing.

You can recreate this look at home with any heat styler and Mare’s favourite hair products for voluminous waves.

Marie’s mermaid waves tutorial:

Step 1: Leave-in heat protection

Step 1: Leave-in heat protection

Marie starts off her routine by using a leave-in heat protectant cream like the Kérastase Résistance Extentioniste Thermique. This formula is great for damaged ends and repairing dry, brittle hair. You can apply this to damp hair before blow drying.

Step 2: Section your hair

Step 2: Section your hair

Section your hair into two sections (top and bottom) using a large clip similar in shape and size to the Balmain Paris Large Clip- Black

Step 3: Tilt technique

Step 3: Tilt technique

Using a wider straightener like the CLOUD NINE The Wide Iron, Marie uses a tilting technique to create her waves. Moving in sections, clamp the iron 3cm from the root and then tilt the straightener backwards and forwards, moving the iron down the hair on a diagonal. Repeat this on both sides of the hair and to the top and bottom sections.

Step 4: Volumizing spray

Step 4: Volumizing spray

After completing each section Marie uses the Kevin.Murphy Doo.Over, which is a dry finishing spray that adds shape and bounce to the hair. You can scrunch it where the kinks are to emphasise them.
