About the Author

Before working at Adore Beauty my interest in beauty was sparked as a form of extreme procrastination during my undergrad when I thankfully discovered brow products and Hyaluronic Acid. Nothing was really the same after that. Now as writer at Adore Beauty I'm constantly researching beauty to give you the most informed and up to date beauty advice!

The Products You'll Need to Create a Textured Low Bun...

Top Tips for Curling and Texturising Hair:

  • If you have a lot of hair, section your hair into two parts by clipping the top section of your hair up with crocodile clips. Start curling the bottom section of your hair before letting the top section down to be styled.

  • This routine uses the curling iron at its maximum temperature, however you can put the heat settings a little lower for softer waves.

This routine shows you how to incorporate a moisturising heat protectant into your styling routine, without compromising the look or feel of your hair, as Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil adds lustre to the final result.

Step 1: Protect Your Hair & Add Shine

Step 1: Protect Your Hair & Add Shine

Start by adding just two drops of the Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil to dry hair and distribute evenly from root to tip.

Step 2: Grab Your Curling Iron

Step 2: Grab Your Curling Iron

To begin creating your perfectly tousled updo, start by grabbing your Cloud Nine C9 Waving Wand and start taking small sections from the front and wrapping it around the wand away from your face. When creating these curls, try leaving the ends of your hair straight. It’s best to use your curling wand at its maximum temperature and If you have a lot of hair you may need to section your hair.

Step 3: Work in Some Hairspray

Step 3: Work in Some Hairspray

Once you have curled the entirety of your hair consolidate your curls with a workable hairspray. We recommend trying the evo builder's paradise working spray, which is lightweight and malleable. Softly spray a light layer so the hair is evenly coated, without overdoing it. Then, lightly run your hands through your curls to distribute work in the spray to your curls. Again, if you have a lot of hair you may need to do this in sections.

Step 4: Time for Texture

Add some extra texture, body and definition by spraying the evo haze styling powder pump into your roots and then through to your ends.

Step 5: Tie It Up

Step 5: Tie It Up

Take the back section of your hair and tie it into a low ponytail, leaving some loose curls towards the front to frame your face. Then tie the pony a second into a low, messy bun. Let a bit of the hair come through underneath so it's not completely up.

Step 6: Twist and Pin

Step 6: Twist and Pin

Take some of the front sections of your hair and twist them back before softly bobby pinning them so they sit just above the bun. Grab the evo haze styling powder pump if you need some extra texture for this part so you can manipulate these curls more easily.

Step 7: Finish with Olaplex No. 7

Step 7: Finish with Olaplex No. 7

Add one drop of Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil to your fingertips and lightly smooth over any frizz on the top of your hairstyle and the ends of your curls, adding some extra shine to this textured hairstyle.

How Do I Keep Damaged Hair Healthy When Heat Styling?

No matter the health of your hair, it is important to use a heat protectant when styling your hair with hot tools. This becomes particularly important when your hair is dry or colour damaged, as your hair becomes more vulnerable to breakage.
